I just found the time to rush thru Candlekeep and testing Polymorph for a bit. It makes Traps useless, since you can go invisible first and then morph, moving around 100% MRed should make even Durlag's a joke. When I killed Prat's group my point from where I threw my invincible cheeseb- um fireballs, Prat kept aggroing me, so I went Jelly form and was resistant to whatever he did. Being 85% missile resistant is not very good, since you can still get interrupted by missiles, once I am level 10 cleric I can be 100% resistant with Armor of faith tho (right now 95%), that's sadly not before SoA.
Cheese is a good keyword: Korgath sneaked through Nashkel Mines and brought Mulahey down with a well placed backstab, trapstacking and some more Fireballs while the remaining Kobolds and Skeletons - already badly hurt - went down to some more backstabs. Ah, so much fun! Back in Nashkel he tricked Nimbul really badly: Seven Special Traps were laid down before Korgath charmed Nimbul and moved him right on top of the Traps. After a backstab he turned hostile and was shred to death thanks to the trap damage even before any of his protection spells could go out. Poor Nimbul.
Same procedure with Drasus: Charm him -> let him fight the two guards so he got hurt -> move to traps -> backstab -> BOOOM!
Just quickly dropping by to say that Caligula is still alive and kicking. He's slowly clearing the dwarven mine, because I have been busy all week. Still managed to clear two more rooms. Since I won't be home all weekend, not much is gonna change in the next few days. However, the schedule seems clearer next week, so expect more updates soon !
Did you guys know, that in SoD the enemy levels get boosted by a massive amount because of LoB? This does not seem to be the same in BG1 and 2, but I came across this by accident today, playing around with Turn Undead. You need a turn Undead level of 24 to destroy the skeletons of all kinds in the starting dungeon. The highest level skeleton there is level 8, so I googled and found out the enemies get +12 levels. This might explain Big B's more than 80% MR. In BG1 this definitely is not true, since my command spell works on all the creatures it is supposed to work without save.
@Victor_Creed_SFV: Clearing the Dwarven Mines is optional - yes! But with some preparation - and summons - it isnt that hard to save the dwarves. Anyway: Getting them - or the Lich - as support later on will prove to be very helpful. +12 levels from LoB? Okay! But still not enough!
BtW: You are already in SoD @Victor_Creed_SFV - or just doing some research?
I was bored yesterday but didn't want to record BG1, since it was late, so I exported my F/M/C to SoD as she was and did the starting dungeon. While doing that I also found out that the nymph cloak is useless compared to Algernon's since it's range is touch while Algernon's is 40 ft, so I'll have to kill poor Algernon later today. I think besides the cloak I only nee Durlag's Goblet and Kiel's Helm and I'm good to go for SoD, starting dungeon worked fine without both. Btw., did you guys ever try running into the skeletons while hasted, then run south out of sight and then invis? It seems bonebats won't follow you and you don't need PfU.
Anyway after I did the starting dungeon I went to bed, but today I thought about how sad it was that due to me being triple class I'll only get cleric level 8 and never being able to turn undead in the dwarven mine, which would b very strong So I created a cleric of lathander, gave him max level 10 per EE-Keeper just to see whether turning would work, but it neither worked with the level 10 cleric, nor with the +2 turning shield you can get in the starting dungeon. That's why I researched the subject and then bit by bit raised the level of the cleric with keeper to check what theoretical level you would need for turning them.
Agreed - The range of Algernon´s Cloak is far better. On the other hand its only one use per rest. With regard to the starting dungeon and the undead: I tried different things. Running through with Haste, using invisibillity or even using summons as distraction. Nothing worked for me. Once the summons are dead the undead will follow you forever while the Bonebats will see and attack through invisibilty. At least thats my experience. With the summons it might be possible to rush through and kill Korlasz quickly enough. Anyway: As there is no need for the PfU-Scrolls later on beside the Dwarven Mines using them is the fastest and safest way.
Korgath in the meanwhile has continued with his Algernon´s cheese. After killing all guards around Davaeorn he charmed the Mage and moved him to the Battle Horrors who were still waiting at the entrance. They made short work of him and went instantly down once they had killed their own master. Too sweet!
Are you sure they are not following? Cause: As they are slow they will need some time to catch you! I tried exactly this with and without summons and it never worked in my version. But you may use the time to force Korlasz to surrender!
You can see it from the wights behaviour. If you are still in vision of the bonebats, the wights will also come after you, I think even Korlasz henchmen might. I know this because when I tried recording this I messed up twice. Only came across this thru accident.
Ok, so I went through with going to Korlasz and charming her and even tho the behaviour of the wights and I think also the other enemies in this dungeon is unique when you stealth this way, the bonebats and skeletons actually come after you, my bad I guess you still could use them with charmed Korlasz to get her down to surrender state but it is kinda dangerous if she dies you have a big problem.
@Victor_Creed_SFV it sounds like your installation is not quite the same as ours. I've not played far in SoD in the past, but my experience has also been that once things first see you everything in the area uses a follow_me script whether or not they can see invisible.
I also noted that you referred earlier to levels not being increased in BG1 and BG2 - they are increased in my installation by LoB. If command is working for you without a save I imagine that's the impact of an additional mod you have.

Well, I posted too many posts in short order, but as I mentioned in the last post I just didn't notice the skeletons following, since I rushed to Korlasz AND the wights did not follow, which they do if I go invisible before I face the bone bats. But yeah, you guys are right they did pursue, they were just very slow. :d I don't have anything else installed than the base BWS (which was necessary for SCS) and SCS itself. Command works without a save against a couple of creatures including Iron Throne guards, strange.
A short update: Korgath is now busy in Baldurs Gate and reached level 8. Candlekeep isnt far away and so far the whole run has been easier than expected. Stealth + Charm + Traps are ruling everything and - as you may have seen in the screenshots - lead to some really devilish instakills. Korgath has decided to trick the Iron Throne Guards as the only thing he needs is the Ring of Free Action (he spared the life of Dushai). Once he got the Strength Manual his hit & damage potential will get a huge boost and make things even easier. So the only big challenge that remains then is the Palace Ambush - this should be still good for some reloads. We will see.
Here´s how Alai at the Iron Throne getting killed by Assassins while his friends are just watching - a free Ring of Free Action!
After rushing through Candlekeep Korgath tried hard to charm Slythe - but failed. As his backstabs would instakill Korgath he used four guards plus Quenash to protect him. With this meatshield he dispelled Slythes Haste first and waited until Quenash went down. Only then he joined the party and backstabbed Slythe down to loot the two-in-one present: Invitation + Baldurans Cloak! The palace ambush is not far away anymore...
P.S. Its quite interesting that Slythe sometimes fails his saving throw against the trap slow. If the slow triggers it gets even easier!
Oh, thats quite easy @Grond0: Nymph Cloak - 40 charges are more than enough!
BtW: In my previous runs i was able to steal the Cloak of Balduran from Quenash. This time she did not have any items at all so Korgath either had to kill her or do the quest line. Very strange...
Nymph Cloak: 40 Charges, Range: Touch Algernon´s: 1 charge per rest, Range: 40 ft
Anyway: Korgath managed to beat the Palace Ambush on his second try! Seven special traps were placed (resting in between) and once the nobles transformed the Doppleganger Cleric got hit by all of them. Even though the slow did not trigger he was down to badly wounded and some backstabs later he already went down. For the other Dopplegangers Arrows of Dispelling helped a lot so Korgath could start his backstab + Acid Arrows swapping while pressing the Mage hard. He soaked up the Fireballs (127% Resistance), the Magic Missiles (Shield Amulet) and some Melfs Arrows while shooting Acid Arrows on the already heavily wounded Dopplegangers. It still wasnt enough to save Belt but Liia - as always standing around doing nothing - wasnt attacked much so time was running in favour of the defenders. With only the Doppleganger Mage left - who ran out of spells - the rest was just cleaning the house. Much easier than expected but - to be honest - Korgath was quite lucky this time.
Great work @Harpagornis! I love bounty hunters - and even moreso dwarven ones - so am looking forward to your progress. I see you are using short bow for ranged, but what is your melee, scimitars? Are you dual-wielding?
Thanks for you post @Aerakar! You are right: Dwarven Bounty Hunters are pretty damn cool. And the saving throw bonus from Constitution are making them a very solid choice as well.
Shortbows are pretty solid for range attacks and later on there will be some good ones in SoA. For now Korgath is using the Shortbow +2 he got from Marek. For close combat Scimitars are supergood in BG1 and SoD - thanks to Drizzt. As the penalties for Dual Wielding are very harsh he is mostly using only one of them - depending on the situation. I only switch to Dual Wielding if the enemy is stunned or similar - like fighting the basilisks with Korax, the Ghoul.
For now only Sarevok is left - time to farm a bit more and buy all the stuff needed for SoD!
Korgath decided to have some more fun before hunting down Sarevok therefore he visited the big bad Wolf of Ulcaster. I always skipped this fight for no reason so i wanted Korgath to take a closer look at it. Even though the Wolf - who is always called Invalid in my version - not only uses several CC but will also get help from more and more wolves who are coming in. Much like the Davaeorn fight. This all sounded like big trouble but at the end it was quite simple - even without any protection potion or scroll except for Oil of Speed. With it Korgath was able to constantly backstab the Ulcaster Wolf and retreat fast enough before any CC would catch him. Also the traps hurted - and slowed - him badly so all Korgath had to do was: Keep on restealthing and backstabbing while avoiding the CC and the incoming support. It still took some time until the beast went down and Korgath managed to sneak-run past the big wolf group to loot the Ulcaster´s History Book.

Not quite sure if I even can save the dwarves.
