This all sounded like big trouble but at the end it was quite simple - even without any protection potion or scroll except for Oil of Speed.
The Wolf should have a variety of different howls available. Those include horror, so it would be risky in a no-reload not to use protection (there's also a dispel magic howl, so you need to be able to reapply protection).
@Harpagornis Do you know if the demons in the Big B fight are considered summoned and can be protected against with Protection from Evil? edit: also did you ever try bullets of darkness + 3 against him? you get 80 of them and with the sling +3 from durlags you do 8 base damage and slings also get strength bonus
Agreed @chimaera! I used the same compromise for Cernd: Buff him up and hope that he will kill Faldorn in Greater Werewolf Form. Also agreed on the Warden script! It seems a bit strange and last time i fought him he lost against two summoned Genies. Looks like he has a big problem when you are cheesing out of his vision. Seems like Fafnir is rolling like an unstoppable Avalanche through SoA - will there be any challenge waiting for him?
@Victor_Creed_SFV: Protection from Evil did not work for me against Big B´s demon army. And yes: The Void Arrows or Bullets are nice - i usually use them heavily at the beginning of the fight when there are not many demons and my summons (+Calaer) can tank them for a while and you have a free time firing one arrow (or bullet) after another!
@chimaera: With Mace of Disruption or Azuredge Liches are a joke. Without - okay - you will have to work a bit more. Are Dragons a real problem for high level casters?
Cant remember that i have seen it anywhere @Victor_Creed_SFV - but i did not open any chest. Would be interesting to see how long this would work before Big B or the Erinyes will take it out. But you are right: Invisibilty is your best friend in this battle!
@Grond0: Yeah, the Wolf used his Horror if i waited too long but like the Dispel Howl it never went out thanks to cornering out of vision. I agree that this would be risky in a no-reload but even without the whole fight was much easier than expected!
You mean the clone? You can cast invis on the clone, too, but yeah I guess they might go after it instead of the pc but maybe it would help to also constantly cast summons to distract from the clone.
Btw I spoilered myself today for the very first time about the Big B fight, thats why all of a sudden I ask so many weird questions and the guy had a full party but at least he was on LoB and he constantly resummoned with wand and his party never got aggroed by the demons, he did have Minsc in the fray tho, but I wonder how well this tactic would work solo, especially if you combine it with other cheese like invis.
Lol - now i know why it wasnt possible for Korgath to steal Algernon´s or Balduran´s Cloak: His Pick Pocket Skill was too low. Looks like a minimum skill is required for each character - or item. For instance: I was able to steal a healing potion from Chantalas Ulbright with 40 points - but not more. With 60 points i could grab the Wisdom Tome as well as some more potions. I have played so many thieves but never realized this simple principle. Maybe i am getting too old...
Beating Big B with summons only? Sounds weird! Not getting aggro by any of the demons will be hard as they come from all sides. And i wont call invisibilty cheese - it just makes this hard fight a little bit easier.

No as I said he had a full party, but my point was the summons (+ Minsc) kept any aggro of the rest of his party. Invisibility is cheese the way it works in BG, especially with Mislead, but in general. Yes it might be substantial for soloing Big B, when you don't have harm, but let's keep in mind that BG is not a solo game by design but a party game.
Korgath explored Durlags Tower and after grabbing another Wisdom Tome he faced the fearsome Wardens. Thanks to his special traps (7x 3d8+5 damage) Fear, Avarice and Pride all went down to injured or badly injured instantly - good starting point! After some backstabs Fear went down quickly while - like always - it took quite some time to wear down Pride. Love on the other hand was easy again as his spells never landed on Korgath who grabbed his Wardstone with Haste. But before moving on to the next level to get Durlags Goblet Korgath faced the sneaky Avarice in a true Thief vs Thief duel. Watch what happened after an epic hide & seek game:
All grows cold... and then... silence. Yeah, this happened over and over again - too bad!
Okay, okay - Korgath tried it again and this time it was him who cheesed better. Thanks to some Necklace of Missile Burning whenever Avarice went in for an attack plus some heavy backstabs after surviving Avarice brutal assaults Korgath finished this little sneaker with a Dart of Stunning in his head (even though the stun never ever procced). Tough work but at the end Korgath proved to be the better Chea.... äääähm... Thief! As you can see in the screenshot - it was a pretty close fight!
Korgath finally faced Sarevok - who went down in the usual fashion. As everyone - except for Angelo - followed their master all of them where nicely parked in the SE-corner. And thanks to some heavy out-of-stealth rain with Arrows of Detonation and Necklace of Missiles Semaj, Diarmid and Tazok (damn 50% Fire Resistance) went down one after another. WIth the Skeleton Warriors parked in the NW-corner only slippery Angelo was left. Once he showed up all Korgath had to do was: Protect from his Magic, dispel all protections and backstab the hell out of him. When he finally went down it was all about facing Sarevok in a deciding 1vs1. But - oh wonder - Korgath had no intention playing this one fair so he excuted the good old backstab & restealth cheese again and again and again. Even with Potion of Power it still took some time to land all of those needed hits but - once Sarevok was nearly dead - it was time to get into position for a nice final (screen)shot - GG!
Not to forget: The final stat screen right before facing Sarevok and moving on to SoD.
No time for playing - just typing some weekend questions: Any updates or progress? Does anyone know where @Blackraven is? Is someone willing to give the pure Cleric a chance? What do you think how big the chances are to bring Korgath through SoD? And last but not least: Whats your most hated enemy so far?
Most hated enemy for Warriors? This cheating Shadow Aspect in SoD!!! No other creature has killed me more! If you ever face it @Arctodus: RUN!!!!!
For Thieves? Anything immune to backstab and/or traps!
For Druids? Nah - Druids rule everyting. Well. Nearly!
@Harpagornis, you called me? Lot of stuff going on here. Great work Harpagornis with your different characters. I still need to catch up but you're a real trailblazer! @chimaera, you make it look easy with Fafnir.
I started a run with a Blade last week, as tweaked by Rogue Rebalancing (*** in dual-wielding at character creation, can cast up to level 8 spells, gets Whirlwind attack instead of enhanced bard song, but a number of weaker abilities to replace the high level traps). When I first read about LoB mode, my thought was to go Blade if I were to try this. Anyway I thought my Blade was doing pretty well in BGEE, but Bayard taught her otherwise: She had inadvertently triggered a Confusion trap and paid the ultimate price for attacking ol' Bayard.
I might try again, but I've just started a SCS/LoB run with a Shadowdancer, but using a party, that I'll post about in the no-reload thread.
I'll be following developments here though. Good luck everyone!
Good to see you back in the house @Blackraven. Blades are really cool - if i remember correctly @Victor_Creed_SFV is also a big fan ot them. No? And: If you wanna try a new run - you are welcome!
Yeah, it looks like Fafnir is just stomping everything into the ground @chimaera - even more with SR!
Still no time for playing but - hopefully - i might get the chance to start a bit with SoD today. We will see!
Korgath started into SoD and used mostly the power of his stealth and peaceful arguments when facing the Followers of Sarevok. The Undead were tricked with a PfU-Scroll as he had four of them stored in his backpack.
To reach Porios right after the beginning Korgath charmed one of the Followers so the rest moved away from the door. Now everything he had to do was: Sneak up to Porios and convince him and his guards to surrender - fast and easy xp:
Once Korgath had run past the undead and sneaked through some more groups of Mercenaries he finally faced Korlasz and her Elite Guards. To win this battle fast Korgath set up seven traps (one rest in between), charmed Korlasz with Algernon´s Cloak and moved her right next to the traps:
Nicely parked Korgath fired one Arrow of Dispelling to get rid of her Stoneskin. Once she turned hostile again all traps fired and took her immediately down to badly injured:
Badly wounded Korlasz did not want to fight anymore and accepted her surrender - all of her allies left the catacombs and the undead turned to dust giving Korgath a huge XP boost that took him right up to level 11:
Now its time to collect some loot and move on to the city of Baldurs Gate once more - what a smooth start!
The Druid has to wait - it was just too easy at some point. Maybe i will continue Krell or restart as pure Druid. We will see!
Hhmhmmmm... i tried to pickpocket her on several occasions... catacombs, palace... but the game claimed that there are no items to steal. But maybe my pick pocket skill was too low - like always. I also tried to kill her but she was just immortal. Damaging her during Assassins attacks is hard for Thieves or Warriors. 80 Haste Potions are cool but there are already too many of them in the game. Why no Potions of Power?
Korgath is justing getting gold to buy all needed supplies. There will be a lot of dead party NPC´s on the floor soon!
I had run into some strange bug as i managed to kill Coran this time before he left the Elfsong Tavern - after getting kicked by Safana. Once he was charmed, several hasted backstabs plus six traps brought him down quickly. On my first kill i got 2 Invisibility Potions, on my second one - cause the game crashed after grabbing his loot - he dropped 20 (!!!). Confusion. To get some clarity i did it a third time and he dropped 2 again. This game is always good for some suprises. Oh, i tested it again: Still 2 Invisibilty Potions...
P.S. Unlike the other NPC´s Coran only wears crappy unenchanted items...
EDIT: Korgath is cleaning BG from one party NPC after another while his gold amount is growing and growing. Not to forget: Thanks to pickpocketing he gets more and more potions - and one Buckler +1 from Jospil who got killed by a charmed Flaming Fist Enforcer for 1400xp. Too bad that all Flaming Fists seem to wear only crappy items after Korgath cleaned the Flaming Fist HQ with another charmed Enforcer. At least Bartleby dropped a named Wakizashi +1 that was sold for another 1k gold. Time to get some rest before Korgath will look for more opportunites to cheese around.
The secret of Halbazzer Drin´s Special Cabinet [SoD]
Has anyone wondered what magic the rightmost cabinet on the top floor of Sorcerous Sundries might contain? Would it be some super magic weapon? A powerful potion? A Tome of Knowledge? Korgath wanted to lift this secret and tried to break open the lock. But after a short moment he realized that its special mechanism was immune to any form of thievery or even simple magic. "Aaah" Korgath thought cause now it was clear that Halbazzer Drin must have some sort of key to open this special cabinet. Korgath tried to pickpocket him - but only got some potions. Hhhmmm.... maybe his skill is too low? He used some potions to push pickpocket up to 120 - and failed again. As attacking Halbazzer would turn everyone hostile and also activates some Golem Guards Korgath walked the cheesy path: First he charmed Kazzrem, the Monk who is also selling some goods.
And from now on everyting was easy: Kazzrem was able to attack Halbazzer Drin who just stood still until he went down:
Like Korgath predicted he found a key on Halbazzer Drin´s corpse:
With the key in his hands Korgath rushed to the top floor to finally reveal the secret of his special cabinet:
A mysterious potion inside! What powers will it gift to us? Immortality? Permanent Invisibility? A moment later all was clear:
What a surprise - no?
P.S. Tested it again: Even a Pick Pocket Skill of 230 is not enough to steal the key from Halbazzer Drin!

Are there Mislead scrolls in SOD?
Might be a pretty cheesy way to stay invis vs the demons.
