If I can make mods and fix some of the stuff beamdog hasn't while working 50 hrs a week, spend time with my family and free time to play games and tinker about with mods. They can't even manage there own games which is pretty much there main job.
Look, if you don't like how they do business, fine. Don't give them your money. Feel free to write reviews reflecting that, provided they are reasonable, truthful, and without undue invective.
But taking time to pop into threads on this forum, particularly into threads about Apple platforms, is odd, to say the least. I myself have purchased machines for over two decades, but only for the Mac, Linux, BSD, and other Unix systems. I had a machine that let me dual boot into Windows, but that was because work required it. I have no use for Microsoft. It's a choice I've made for various reasons, security being one, and like any choice it comes at a price. Macs are a bit more expensive (though not really if you do a spec-for-spec comparison) and not all software runs on a Mac or Ubuntu, particularly games. However, Unix systems are more stable, more secure, run quicker on similar hardware, need less micromanagement, etc. So choosing Windows comes at a price, too.
Android tablets are a bit cheaper, but the wider variety (and quality) of hardware that a given version of Android runs on makes it harder (and more expensive) to develop, support, and update. For iOS, Apple provides all that information in one spot and provides a development and sales environment that may be less good in certain ways, but is at least simpler and more consistent. For a small development company, it has a smaller cost of entry, to use a term from economics. I also believe that, though Android may have a bigger base of users, iOS has a larger number that will pay for apps. (Admittedly, my information on that is two or three years old, so that might have changed.)
Until last week, people like me who bought the game for the iPad or iPhone were in the same boat. I understand the disappointment, but please. If the Android user base is perceived negatively, you're only going to drive people to the view that developing and supporting software for Android isn't worth it. Take it from a guy who was a Mac OS8 and OS9 developer in the late 90s.
Probably blame GoG/Gamersgate/Wotsc rather than take responsibility for poor performance.
That's pretty much nonsense as we all know and have seen how they miscommunicate even they have acknowledged that as well by posting on forums they way they communicate (obviously must be hard to see with those rose tinted goggles). Quick to lay the blame on anyone but themselves.
I'm still waiting for SoD to come to my platform (probably after android) so don't know if there is anything more to the dissatisfaction with the game, as I am still trying to stay spoiler-free. (I stay out of the SoD forum unless a platform-specific issue pops up on the recent discussions front page.)
And then they had the Miz fit of a century. Apparently having an NPC shop-keeper be trans, and finding out after asking said NPC a few times about her name, was so mind blowing that they all crawled out of their basements and...wait, nevermind. They stayed there. And tanked SoD's reviews.
Which is really sad. Because their terrorism was designed to hurt Beamdog's sales, and to send a message to other developers that they better not make a game they don't approve of...or else the same will happen to them.
I'm just glad that they've left the forums. I mean, these are people who doxy those that disagree with them. The amount of evil that it takes to do that? Truly disgusting people.
And...ranting aside. The release of the IoS update shows me that the platform SoD will probably come out eventually. It'll just take another year or so.
