Why can't I add spells highlighted in green to my spellbook

MustafaMustafa Member Posts: 2
"Write Magic" no longer appears in any spells of any level. I don't believe I am at my limit (intelligence 18). The scrolls are highlighted in green which I believe means they are available to write. When I view them, all I see is "done" What am I missing?

    Are you a specialist Wizard? The spell could be from the school of magic you can't learn.

    Are you wearing an armor?

    I can only think about two situations

    1) You reached your max spells per level (it's 18 for a score of 18 in Intelligence)

    2) You already know that spell.

    Wearing an armor doesn't forbid you from learning spells, only casting them.

    The scrolls from the opposition school of a specialist wizard highlights in red, not green.

    this could be a bug because;

    if you have 18 INT, you can only have 18 spells per level, and if you hit that limit, the spells will no longer be green ( at least thats what happens when i play )

    and if you already know the spell, again it should not be green ( again this is what happens when i play )

    next, if you are a specialist wizard not only will the spell not be green, it will be red, because specialist wizards cannot cast spells of their opposite schools ( unlike vanilla bg1 )

    so with that being said, do you have any mods installed? what version are you playing? and on what platform are you playing it on?

    And what spells are you attempting to write?

    Also, which version of the game? Can you please provide screenshots? Singleplayer or Multiplayer? What class does your character have?

    Sorry to bother everyone, and thank you for all the responses. I figured it out. The scrolls are contained in a scroll case. Apparently, you cannot use them to write into your spellbook if they are there, they have to be in the main inventory. They still appear green in the scroll case so it seem like one should be able to use them there, but that's not the case. Sorry for the confusion.

    Scroll cases and other inventory containers are really just free stores, where you can see what you can scribe before you buy it.
