Over on the Infinity Engine side of the forums we have a very fascinating and popular thread full of little known facts, clever strategies, hidden easter eggs, and all sorts of things you wouldn't expect or be surprised to learn about the games. I figured that it would be a great idea to get one started over here for NWN. Don't be shy! If you think you know something about NWN that may not be general knowledge or is just really neat, go ahead and share it here!
I will start with a little easter egg that I read about long ago. The books sometimes have things written on them. In this screenshot is a book that has "Bioware Corp" written on the cover, and on the spine is written "This is a book" in Greek letters.

We had these guys blasting at 3am during the 1987 harmonic convergence. On cassette tape.
My friend got so drunk he lit his turntable on fire and we watched the fire turn green.

Be warned, this one has 129 odd questions.
in SoU caused three near-heart attacks in our family the first time we went through it? My wife, younger son, and I all jumped and shouted/shrieked/swore. The dogs woke up, too. The older son just said “cool” and started casting.
The original release of the game came with a RL cloth map that I still have!
Try downloading that bugger!
Okay sorry, there’s probably millions of those out there...
In SoU chapter 1 one of the items you are sent after is the mummified hand of the lich Balpheron. Heurodis, who you meet later in SoU, turns out to be one of the lich's surviving apprentices. You fight Balpheron himself as well In HotU, who is also in hell.
Also, Pirates of the Sword Coast was full of (not necessarily hidden) references, so it might be cheating to mention stuff like this here, but here it goes.
There's a "Jaws" reference in one NPC dialogue, in which the NPC says:
"Sorry, mate. Scared o' sharks. Have been e'er since I was a kid. Great White ate me grandmother, aye? She was swimmin' out in the waves then suddenly this music started playin' an' the fin came out o' the water an' then... it was horrible, just horrible...".

A cow making a reference to the children's song "Old McDonald Had a Farm".
A reference to the old joke "Why did the chicken cross the road?"
Not too sure about this one but my best guess is that it is a reference the "Chicken Dance".
Edit: Oh I see, apparently it actually has nothing to do with what they can see, but actually how close the PC is to them. If there are no living player characters within 10 meters then they become a statue, even if they are chasing you as you run away or something. As a side note they also behave rather oddly in that they don't seem to respect invisibility, even though they have no True Seeing/Blindsight abilities. Probably has something to do with their statue behavior. The things you learn when you read the wiki...
Find out the rest of this thrilling tale from Waterdeep rats!
In Shadows of Undrentide you can keep a woman's baby named Tynan. Keep him, finish the game, and continue on to the sequel, Hordes of the Underdark.
In the Underdark, you can throw Tynan into the illithid bridge construct to gain a rather decent fighting companion.
Oh, and rangers and druids should ALWAYS complete SoU before going onto HoTU. In SoU there is a very powerful little item that allows you to bestow +1d6 fire damage and +1d6 cold damage to your animal companion once per day.
