@Sarevok57, maybe I'm just gonna fall for your troll bait but you've never been able to set the AI updates to 90 in the old games. The Original BG didn't even have this option. Only after TUTU and BGT were you able to change the AI updates for BG. 60 has always been maximum. Unless you've done something that no one know about!
If your talking about the new game then your on shrooms buddy. Editing the ini file for the frame rate does nothing. It's locked at 30 regardless of what number you change it to and until the developers change this, many will just twiddle their thumbs and wait.
yeah i know about the new game, i tried 60 and 90 and both dont work, looks like its hard capped, and i wasnt talking about setting bg1 to 90 fps, i know its hard capped to 60, i said bg2 can run at 90, not bg1
@DinsdalePiranha the problem you link (7888) is not related to the 30 fps cap. It's about graphic card choices when you have 2 graphic cards on your computer, and that the game take the wrong one by default.
Any goddamn update on this yet? Already gravely dissappointed on the fiddling around in ini files and fKK knows what else to do stuff which was easily accessible in the original. Aint touching it nor recommending BGEE before some solutions start to make sense, and fast.

Wrong. BG2 had the option, and BGT and Tutu simply implemented everything from the BG2 engine into BG1, something I thought that BGEE was supposed to be doing?
Just about everything about BGEE is inferior to BGT and Tutu.
@mungri. Sorry I didn't mean games I meant game as in BG. ALmost anyone knows that BG2 and Thone had AI updates but that BG originally didnt and some people are getting that mixed up. But your right. Though I never remembered BG2 being able to set the AI updates to 90, I always thought 60 was the highest. I was not very clear but at no time did I say that BG2 did not have AI updates. I only refer to BG not even having the option and the other two only being able to go to 60. After TUTU and BGT then BG was able to use AI updates.
This is copied from a post I made venting my frustration a bit
"It's just a bit hard to play at 30 after playing BG2 and Throne for yrs and then being able to Play at 60 with TUTU or BGT for BG. Each their own I guess but you can autopause every round so even at 60 things never get out of hand.
My understanding was that BG:EE was built using the latest version of Throne. At least keep the functionality of BG2 and Throne for BG:EE. That way those who want to play at 15,20,30,35,45,60, are then able to play at that speed".
@Sarevok57 I just re-installed BG2 and the AI updates only go to 60 for me. In the INI file changing it to 90 does nothing.
@begolf00 did you get the latest patch for it? the latest patch i got for bg2/tob even says in the read me that you can crank it up to 90, that is where i got the idea from, the patch that sorcerers.net gives should be that one that does it
@sarevok57 Well it's my pleasure to tell you that GOG is a digital game distributor. Everything is DRM Free. I would encourage you to check it out. The only two services I use are GOG and Steam. GOG is a subsidiary of CD Project I believe and they are the one's who made the Witcher games. GOG usually deals with a lot of old classic games. They then somehow get them to work on modern computers. It's by far my favourite digital distribution company.
What do you guys mean it's unplayable at 30 fps? This game was designed for 30 fps, that is the default speed. If u play on 60, everything moves in turbo mode it makes no sense. It's like watching a movie in fast forward.

For you, maybe. For me 30 FPS is slow motion. 60 is kinda fast, but more than playable. Lately I've been running on 45 - that is, 50% faster than normal.
No it's not. As I've said all ready there is autopause for every round if you want it. Why do you like playing at a snails pace? It's painful walking across any of the large maps. Both Throne and BG2 had AI updates and since BG:EE is built on the latest version of Throne why not let people decide like they use to be able to on what speed they want to play.
You sort of sound like 30 is too fast for you, well in BG2 and Throne and the TUTU and BG3 version of BG you could select your AI update speed as well. The slowest you can put it to is 15, perfect for you lol. My point is let the user pick what he/she wants to play at like we once were able to. Yes I know a round is 3 seconds at 60 AI updates but that's the way I like to play.
Also I can guarantee that for some who have never played games much and decide to play it on the I Pad when it comes out 30 will be a no go for a lot of people. Letting this be configurable is better for business. People can then decide what they should have it at.

People that played the game many times eventually get tired of the slow walking and combat. And because the sprites have a reasonably low number of frames the game actually appears smoother with a lot better animation if you speed it up to around 40-45 fps
@begolf00 You basically just contradicted yourself. You say a round is only 3 seconds at 60 fps but then your opening argument is that 30 fps is not the default speed for the game. The rules say a round lasts 6 seconds, which would make 30 fps the actual default speed. Then you go on trying to mock me that even 30 fps is actually too fast for me and 15 would suit me better. I was a pro-gamer in warcraft 3 and semi pro in starcraft 2, pretty sure i'm a much better player than you.
But back to the point, 30 fps is not snails pace, it's actually really good pacing and sets a great atmosphere. Boots of Haste is bad enough by changing your characters to race cars, i don't need 60 fps to make things much worse.
If you don't like slower paces, maybe Diablo III would be a better game for you (and i'm not dissing Diablo franchise here, they are more than decent games).

I don't need your supponence, I only want the framerate slider back. Play at 30 fps if you want.
Your first post sounded slightly mocking to me maybe I'm just getting a bit defensive however I didn't mean to offend you I'm sorry. I'm sure you are a better player at WC3 and Starcraft 2 I didn't mean any disrespect. WC2 was where it was at for me haha lol.
I don't think I've contradicted my self either as not once did I say that 30 FPS is not the default speed. I do think that 30 is the way the game developers intended the game to be played but all I'm asking is to just let people who have played BG dozens of times to be able to choose what speed they want to play at.
Obviously when they developed BG2 this discussion came up and they changed it to let users decide. Though 30 is still default. Anyway sorry again for offending/mocking you my bad.
It's fine, don't worry about it; i don't get offended too easily :P And i do agree that the option SHOULD exist, i even wrote in another thread , criticizing the lack of fps change option. The only thing that seems strange to me is that there are so many players used to playing at 60 fps. I just tried it now in BGT and it's really really awkward and unnatural.
I think everyone is on edge maybe just a bit lol (us vs. them sort of thing). You looking forward to Heart of the Swarm? My cousin plays a crap load of Starcraft and at first he didn't like the switch from brood war to SCII now he's really enjoying it. I can appreciate the time and talent it takes to get good at that game.
He's actually in South Korea now teaching English.
The speed in BGEE is a snails pace, its ridiculously slow and boring compared to BG2 / Tutu / BGT. Theres no reason not to include an option to allow players to increase the FPS if they want to.
@begolf00 Looking forward to it, but not as much as i did for WoL. Still, it will be a welcome change, right now zerg is really overpowered with infestor/broodlord combo. I actually stopped playing Starcraft for over an year (i just watch VODs), but i achieved rank 1 in the entire european ladder after the first month when WoL was released.
Wow that's impressive. I think there's a bright future for e-sports. Even though I'm not a good player I find it highly entertaining to watch SC2 matches or SCBW matches. Especially when they have Koreans hosting the show. The announcers are awesome

I still have no idea what your talking about.
I wish 60 fps!
but i set fps max limit to 60 and nothing changed

Maximum Framerate:
Found in [Program Options]:
Maximum Frame Rate=30
A range of numbers from 10 to 90 is accepted. If you are
playing multiplayer, all players must have the same
frame rate set.

Thanks for sending me the link. Take care
