Well, if that’s really gonna work I can’t help but find all this story hilarious. Bitter laughs, but laughs anyway. I mean, I restrained myself from playing for months, I even delayed the purchase of SoD because of this...and all for nothing? XD
Ok, I’ll try and “buy” the cheapest in-app purchase right now...the extra portraits, maybe?
Edit: it seems to work...I “bought” everything and now it says it’s all installed. The only thing I’m sure is there, are the extra portrait since you can use that in character creation, but I’ve no reason to believe the other add-on should work any different.
Don’t know how to take this sudden turn of events...
Anyway, thanks Xerxes for finding a solution to our predicament.
I’m probably going to buy SoD in the morning, it seems I’ll finally be able to play it.
After reading of Xerxes1811’s apparent success in re-downloading his content without having to pay again, I went and tried the same thing. I can corroborate his report - after clicking the “Buy” button on my previously purchased content, a window popped up with the price tag and asked me to confirm purchase. After confirming, a separate notification popped up, informing me that I had already purchased the item and asking if I wanted to download it for free.
I went ahead and downloaded the content just now; I won’t know for a few days if I was actually charged or not, but Apple certainly makes it seem as though I was not charged a second time. If I subsequently discover that I was charged, I’ll report back here so as to let any other forum readers know.
Just one final post here. It’s been a week, and thus far, it does not appear as though I’ve been charged a second time for my in-app purchases. So, as far as I can tell, anyone who already bought the content once (through Apple’s App Store, at the very least) should be okay to “buy” it a second time in the absence of a “restore purchase” option.
I can’t speak to the process on Android (if this affects them), as I play exclusively on Apple devices.
We're working on the 2.6 patch! We'll share more details when we're ready to move on to the next stage of the beta test, which should include some more in-game testing / validation.
@Acifer We're a bit confused by your report, you mention testing iOS in 2.6 and 2.7, but there is no iOS 2.6 version, and in 2.5 the "Restore Purchases" button doesn't exist in the UI.
Assuming you were just talking about the 2.7 beta, then our best guess is that you're currently signed into an Apple account that hasn't actually purchased the DLC. If you can confirm you're in the correct Apple account and clarify the behaviour you are seeing, that'd be appreciated!
(Version 2.7.3 will make this a little more clear, as the buttons will say "Installed" if the DLC is recognized as purchased.)
The behaviour right now should be that if the DLC is recognized as purchased already, the Buy button should be greyed out. So if you can still click it, Apple believes their account doesn't own it (or there's a bug in the game, of course).
I tested the "Restore Purchases" button on two different versions of BG2: EE on two different iPads, using the same Apple ID (the account I originally used to purchase the DLCs):
On the iPad running BG2EE version 2.5.16.6 (so NOT version 2.6 as I mistakenly mentioned earlier), everything works as expected: after tapping "Restore Purchases", the Buy button becomes greyed out (see first image in my previous post, that's V 2.5).
On the iPad running the BG2EE beta 2.7.2.0, the Buy button remains red and can still be pressed after restoring the purchases. When I tap the red "Buy" button, the TestFlight purchase window opens, allowing me to attempt to purchase the DLCs again.

V2.7 appears to initiate the restoration process...
but the buy-button remains active afterwards (in version 2.7), meaning you can purchase already purchased DLCs again.
So it doesn't seem to work in my setup.
