[Workaround] Unpausing multiplayer game doesn't work

The *SECOND* movie in the Bandit Camp (when you approach the bandit camp headquarters) for Multi-Player will "Pause for Movie" but the movie does not play and then no players in multi-player can un-pause.

The movie should play and then allow players to skip the movie or not and then allow players to unpause after both have watched or skipped the movie.

This is similar to the inn and ambush rest bug that was previously posted and partially worked around.

    Hello,
I am playing online in multiplayer mode with a friend.
We have a bug, it was ok at the beginning of the adventure, the bug began after the friendlyarm inn.
When we sleep (for example in beregost or nashkel inns or in nashkel mines) the game stay in pause after sleeping and the only way to unpause it is to disconnect my friend. He can join again after and the game continue. The problem seems not happen when we sleep outside. No crash is generated, the game is just in pause and waiting my friend to disconect. No bug when I am alone in my multiplayer game.
[config : I am the host of the game. We are both on Win7. He has a 64bits version and I have a 32bits version. We are both using french version of the game pre loaded with the stand alone launcher]

Same problem here. Game stuck in pause after resting in an inn in multiplayer.

The workaround for now is to make copies of rest.wbm in your movies folder and naming them restinn.wbm and restdung.wbm. Should make resting work again.

That works like a charm. You will have to restart the game after making those changes, but it's working now. Thanks!!

I was able to fix the problem, apparently it is missing videos for the Inn and dungeon Rest, so in order to stop this bug, you need to find the "rest.wbm" in your movies directory. Copy that file twice and rename the copied files, "restinn.wbm" and "restdung.wbm" you will not freeze on resting anymore but it will always play the video for resting outside regardless of where you rest

Wow, that's so revealing, since that fix was introduced by Dimitr a page ago.

This thread is only two pages long and people still post in it without reading the previous posts at all -_-

Yes, because we want to see a resolution, not a workaround. :)
    1) I wish they could just add the old movies to the game - that is a resolution.
    2) They could create new movies replacing the older and missing ones - since it was advertised on the main page. It is a resolution too, but I wish they could do both (make new ones but let us to reach the older ones too, or choose it at the beginning of the game). Or just look for my idea at Feature requests: make an Info page, where you can watch them in a small window before you go to the new movie / scene.
    3) Create links, placeholders. Lazy resolution, but a resolution.
    Thanks.

WE can't play multiplayer because of a major bug.

Rest in INN freeze game, no1 can play multiplayer until you fix that. We have paye for player multiplayer...

    @Lobo:
Umm... that's odd - since you see the camp fire sequence when resting in the wilderness, right?
Assuming there is really no rest.wbm, you can also use any other video from the movies folder for this to work. It just looks weirder when you are resting in a dungeon and the 'Friendly Arm' (frarminn.wbm) video sequence starts playing :-D

Hm... if you are still interested in a solution for the missing "rest.wbm" problem: You could also delete (or just rename in case something won't work) the 766.beam and the 766.status in your
X:\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition\Data directory and run the launcher again. Without those files the launcher will re-check if all* files were downloaded correctly and redownload missing/errorneous ones.

    * With all I mean all files except the restdung.wbm and restinn.wbm ;-)

Thanks very much for this - I'll be making a post soon.

You mean the "delete the 766 files" suggestion, Nathan? Well, yeah. It should reinitialize the download of missing/broken files. However I can't imagine that Lobo would have been able in a multiplayer game to rest in the wildernis without the video sequence...

And the restdung/restinn issue was already added to the Master Technical FAQ by Zeckul, I think. But thanks anyway :-)

Yep, still useful to have more exposure to the workaround for the time being until we can fold the workaround into a patch =)

    Xvart village
Literally every time when we tried to go to the west we encountered pause for movie, here is reproduction of this bug when I loaded it alone using multiplayer:

    Here is save file:

Edit: Actually without even resting so maybe it is wrong thread, hmm?

    @Grieg:
Good news, the bug is caused for the same reasons.
Somehow at this point on the map (or at this time?) a sunset triggers. (I noticed this, because after clicking on the map and back again it was suddenly night)

So, as with the former fixes: Simply choose an existing movie (for example again rest.wbm), copy it and rename it to daynite.wbm

There was also a niteday.wbm in BG2... maybe you should make a duplicate for this one as well...
I'll add it to the first post! Thanks again. Your save game and description was excellent.

Updated a second time - but not as important as Griegs reported issue...

I have already fixed two of the freezes by improper exception handling / unavailable movie files by making copies of the original rest move to two new movies restinn and restdung

HOWEVER: this same error occurs at other places, the last one was at the bandit camp. Anyone know of any other easy to find bugs like this that still got through and how to fix?

And another smashing update! Just uploaded 'ye old movies in order to replace the missing ones.
And to everybody, telling me: "Stupid Durla! There was already something like that!!!!11oneeleven" - yes, but @Sam_ accidently missed to adjust the filenames and made needless adjustments to the override directory and the "baldur.ini". Well, that was my opinion when I tested it. (No offense, Sam)

Oh, one "warning": The wyvern video uses a nice "Mensch! Was war denn das?!" audio track in it. Somehow, my BG1-Swordcoast is populated by Germans. Odd, isn't it? ;-)
