[mod] Fyalvara, the warrioress from Rashemen

LavaDelVortelLavaDelVortel Member Posts: 2,872
There is a new mod at Weasel Mods already! Yep! It's true!

fyalpng.png

The mod adds a new companion to BG2EE: Fyalvara, a human warrioress from the distant land of Rashemen. Upon install, she can be a kitless fighter, a wizard slayer, or a totemic druid / fighter dual-class (may only level up as a fighter).

Fyalvara can be found in the docks district.
When asked about her past, FYALVARA tells you she came to Athkatla from Rashemen, a land located in the Unapproachable East region of northeast Faerun. The land is known for their strong berserkers and wise Wychlaran. She, however, never wished to walk the path of magic. If she has to fight, she would rather use her own muscles. She is as strong as many young berserkers, even though she's not of young age herself.

@megrimlock I hope you already made a new install because of Lhannd and now you need to start over!

Joke's on you. Now you need to make TWO new mods every time I restart.

Nice, is she romanceable or/and befriendable?

Also does she have any personal quest?
  • LavaDelVortelLavaDelVortel Member Posts: 2,872
Considering she was married before, she has kids and grandkids... she's not really interested in any romantic relationships.

And of course, there is a friendship and the initial meeting with her starts her personal quest. If you accept her into your party, of course. If you keep her once the quest is over is entirely for you to decide.

Oh I see, it would be kinda unique and orginal romance though as there are hardly any mods that allow to romance older women. She looks around 50 from the picture so I was a bit surprised that she even got grandkids.

The closest would be Jaheira who is seemingly a fair deal older than the PC and was married. Well, technically Viconia was married too (and might be even older) but acts more like a woman in her 20s or 30s than a woman who is uncertain whether to seek new love or not. Viconia's marriages were seemingly only for domination and never for love or even mutual respect.

Cool that its possible to befriend her at least. Does it affect her ending in any way? Or her responses to the PC?

Last thing...does she have any content in ToB like banters or additional quest?

You can have grandkids in your 50s :) If you have kids when you are 18 and then your kid has a kid when they are 18, you can be a grandparent when you are 36. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but it's not that impossible :)

As for ToB content: all my mods have both SoA and ToB banters, talks with PC, interjections, and so on. There are two epilogues and something you can craft with Cespenar's help. As for quest: that part does not continue in ToB. In ToB she stays because she already helped you in SoA and she wouldn't leave it all unfinished.

The rest you will need to see on your own ;) I don't want to spoil too much.

She looks AWESOME, thank you Lava!

    Thanks for such reaction :)

She's way smaller than Lhannd I just released, but they should be nice additions, and just as Dvaradime, they start with a quest that add new areas to the City of Coin.

Hope you'll enjoy both new mods! :)

An interesting character considering I played a male Human from Rashemen who became a Druid and left Rashemen because of strict cultural expectations.

EDIT: And right after I posted this, I found her in the Sea's Bounty tavern, main floor.

I searched around the open air area of Athkatla's Docks district and didn't find her. Where is she normally?

    Thankee!

is there a way to spare Berzana or will she have to die regardless?

No, there is no way to save her, and... She's an evil slaver, trading human beings and animals 😅 there isn't much place for discussion out there, and both Fyalvara's path and that of Berzana are what they are...

I was concerned for Fyalvara’s mental conflict about having to kill her, not out of any sort of pity for Berzana. 😅It seemed to weigh heavily on her since she wanted to bring her to justice. But gotcha.

    Ah, right!
I'm not sure if that's any consolation, but I think part of her always knew this is a promise she won't be able to keep...

Does Fyalvara have any ToB quests /content (besides the possible weapon upgrades?)
  • LavaDelVortelLavaDelVortel Member Posts: 2,872
No, Fyalvara is in general a bit smaller NPC :) I wanted to add a strong, experienced warrioress, that won't be as holy as Mazzy. ToB offers friendship talks, item upgrades, banters, a few interjections and, of course, epilogues, but that's mostly it :)

Your contributions to this series and it's community is nothing short of astounding. Your work is always in my list of must-installs.

Finished this one finally! :) I found Fyalvara to be a welcome companion; I love Minsc but it was nice to have a Rashemi character of a higher IQ give a bit of a different flavor to the story (though I highly recommend taking Minsc along because they have that connection). I do wish at some point a modder does give us a new wychalarn NPC (re: a Rashemi witch/mage) for BG2 (or just gives us a completed Dynaheir in an alternate reality where she does not die-maybe something similar to how Lava presented an alternate reality with Khalid where he survives instead of Jaheira) because I do feel that is an intriguing story yet to be told in the Baldur's Gate 2 lore. All in all Fyalvara's neutrality makes her fit in with most party makeups and her conversations feel pretty natural to the flow of the story. She's definitely worth a try.

Thanks! :) For both your small review and trying so many of my NPCs :)

It's a pleasure! Your mods are the primary reason I've gotten back into a multiple playthrough BG2 binge (I usually wait every five years or so ever since Weimer released Solaufein all those years ago and go on a multi-month, multi-run, multi mod quest/ mod NPC run when the latest and greatest NPCS come out) and it was specifically your Ravenloft mods that got me motivated to start doing this cycle again. Currently I'm doing my second Skie run so I can try the Eddard romance this go-around. I was just about finished with your lineup (I still have Fhaugy and Gahesh to do after this one because I made a promise to myself I'd try all your BG2 NPCs for at least one playthrough each), though now you've gone and released Xzar and Montaron so it looks like I'm going to have to do a whole new install once this current set of installed mods are finished. :D

Thank you for your kind words! Skie and Eddard are rather fun. Fhaugy is cool, if you follow the romance (he romances male characters only) and can lead to a sweet scene if you, at some point, mention a proposal or marriage or something like that. That triggers a special secret scene in ToB :) As for Gahesh... this one is really old and I wouldn't recommend it, to be honest. Fhaugy is so much better. And I hope you'll like Xzar and Monty, too!
