List of kits able to start at LoB difficulty with regular (not cheesy) tactics

YigorYigor Member Posts: 811
A newly created character should be able to beat, at least, weakest creatures in a regular way. 😉
First test: try to win the battle with Shank (Candlekeep, Priest's Quarters) without external help from guards! 😜 N.B. That Shank, improved by LoB, easily beats a shapeshifter's werewolf.

1) Berserker with maximal stats. Tactics: rage + straightforward melee:

2) Bounty Hunter. Tactics: extensive usage of traps:

3) Lawful Evil Mage/Sorcerer. Tactics: polymorphing the familiar into Mustard Jelly:

4) Shaman. Tactics: Entangle (to fix enemies) + Shamanic dance! 👯‍♀️

5) Totemic druid. Tactics: summon a Spirit Animal. 👻

A cleric works just fine against humanoid enemies once they reach level 3. Just paralyze the enemies with Hold Person and attack them until they die.

Thanks! 👍 Indeed, efficient tactics, but starting from level 3. 😎

Usually, when I play LoB, I use the option that makes enemies give extra experience (spending 10 minutes killing a kobold and getting 7 experience for it is pretty lame). Killing the cows in Candlekeep, Beregost, and the Friendly Arm Inn gives enough experience for a few level ups.

@OlvynChuru Damn, it's bad to kill innocent cows! 😼

    Any mage:
Find familar + blindness + sling + knife
Blind + sling. (sleep etc dont work in TOB)
    Familiar pickpocket all in candlekeep.
    Learn spell for early XP.
Talk 30 times to firebead etc.

    Map 1 after candlekeep:
Get belt, get pots + wand from Immoen.
Open up travel features to high hedge.
    Get diamon (500gp) from tree.

    Map 2:
Pick up ring +1, travel north to friendly arm in.

    Friendly arm inn:
Pick up ring of wizardry. Blind and sling hogoblin with flamedance ring.

    Travel to farmland:
Accept sonner quest, then kill sling him to death while cornertrap him. Avoid bandit which random walks.
Save and drink ur oil of speed, enter ankegg cave, run and pick up all stuff and body.
Deliver body to farmer, then talk again and give 100 coinz for additional 1k xp.

Travel to baldurs gate bridge. Give the bowl to priestess for 2500xp.

Travel to high hedge, by invisibility, magic missle, identify, friends, skulltrap, protection from petrification and possible haste. Sell none relevant stuff.

Travel east to bergeost, talk to marv and get 800xp. Go upstairs and have ur familiar pickpocket algernon for cloak.

Start the Silke quest, charm here and let here kill the spiders and possible help neera for gem bag. Then make sure she is out of spells etc and low HP and kill here.

Now travel back to map where u got ur +1 ring. Go charm the wolf close to ogre, use that and urself to kill the ogre, finnish off with blindness + sling.

    Travel to friendly arm inn:
Invisibility urself true mage, deliver the quest items to both shorties(belt and spider/vine/boots etc).

Travel to baldur's gate bridge again, invsibility urself true the ankegg and travel to ulgoth's beard. Buy greater malison and emotinal hopelessness for epic spells and 800xp.

Now travel south of bergeost, see if ur able to kill hoogoblins there for quest, or make ur way south to naskel. Pick up quest amulet safe.

Once in naskel, pick up ankegg armor, talk to noober for free xp. Tell bounty collector that it was not you for +1 rep and get mine quest.

travel to mine, pick up wand from tree and head to east. Do the wolf quest and pick up chromatic orb + cloudkill and learn those for addional 600xp.

Now travel east of naskel mine to pick up gem worth 1k + fire protection ring + samules body. Travel to friendly arm inn and deliver him at temple.

Now find brage and deliver him to other tempel for 1000gp.

Now do mutamin garden, clear it all.

Next step for me is to basilisk exploit on top of durlags tower :P

Algernon cloak can be used to cheeze a lot :P
You can basicly invi urself true naskel mines as well, then charm the cleric, have him suicide on his the familiars and make sure u get last hit for xp. Pick up all relevant.
