Oh sht, i see now. When someone moved grael to his new place, they didn't change his destination, only his position. So when anything wakes him up he will start moving there. I think even spending enough time in the area the actors jump to their destination So, i think i found the problem.
@Messi What are you talking about? If I have a handle on what you are referring to in regards to the missing wardstone then I think you are barking up the wrong tree. There is only one bridge area that has "dwarves" (they are actually doppelgangers) on it is on the second level down in the tor (the one with all the trapdoors). The level 2 exit wardstone is not in the bridge room but rather on the completely opposite side of the dungeon. Go to the room just south of the "teleportation rune" room and just north of the "hall of ghouls" and there should be a secret door. Behind that door is a statue and two gold plates. The statue in that room has the level 2 exit wardstone.
I was in an area of the acid and rested. When the game came back it started spamming that he was taking acid damage. He eventually died. I reloaded my save game and started playing again and did not see the message. As soon as I rested and came back to the game, the game started spamming that he was taking damage. Both times it happened were immediately after resting.
The second time I rushed down to his room and broke in before he died. He was standing at the bottom of the screen, against the wall, in the acid pool. He moved out to come attack me so I was able to talk to him and such.
Did you say you went down to the bottom level, were teleported out, then went back down? If so, how did you do that as the part porting to the chess board is based on killing the last enemy above.
@Shandyr@bigdogchris Yeah the trigger for being teleported to chess is not actually beating the guardians, but rather having any party member in one of their rooms and having beaten all of them. Teleporting to chess also does not spawn chess enemies after they are beaten the first time (can you imagine 2 world's edge?). I can only imagine the headache you two must have gone through in previous playthroughs thinking you had to do the bottom two floors all at once... Note: It was like this in the original too.
I'm not sure what's going on with Grael. As soon as I got to the 4th basement level, I teleported out to sell some things. When I got back to B4F, it was showing Grael taking 1 point of damage every round. Reloading the area doesn't seem to be resolving the issue. The only thing that's working is rolling back to the save before I talked to Islanne to teleport out of the tower.
Is Grael absolutely essential to continue? I don't like hauling around or wasting crap equipment when I enter a new area.
(Looks like this is a well documented issue. Sue me for not looking closer.)

I think THAT is the question that needs to be answered, quite honestly I wont lose sleep over some dumbass ghoul taking an acid bath if it aint essential to my party's progression... so, is it ??

If you pay close attention to what he talks about, he'll provide a hint for how to tackle a later boss. He's also worth quite a bit of XP if you kill him yourself. I don't believe he's attached to any quest, though.

Nope. His not required for any quest or anything like that. So don't lose sleep over it.
