Hello all, I want to talk about a subject that is a topic that is close to my heart and something i been dealing with for years and recently with my cancer.

As many of you know I been going through chemo atm, for Brain Cancer. But i have have a brain tumor on my brain stem and seizures since I was at the age of 5 yrs old and I am at the age of 31 now. Many of you dont know, is since i was 13 i struggled with depression and since i was 22 i been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and since bc of my brain tumor and since it became cancerous, the schizophrenia has gotten worse.

As you can see my health has destroyed my life, but gaming and Beamdog has been my outlet and comfort through this time and I want to say that, gaming is a way of joy for those in need to escape in time of depression and times of sadness. Fantasy, DnD, gaming brings relief and enjoyment to sadness and a little joy and hope and time to find that escape from the pain of the current trial that person is facing like myself and I personally want to thank Beamdog for what that they have done for me by remastering these games and bring a little hope back to my life.

Well, I will survive, however, the damage will be great, I will be in a wheelchair due to nerve damage, and the mental issues, we are managing with meds and therapy but are very minor compared to most, in my situation. I will need assist living when my parents pass, but we will worry about that when time comes, I have double vision in my left eye and tremors in both hands, and arms, but meds do help. As long as the chemo does not damage the brain stem i should be fine but there is the risk, so do pray, bc my tumor presses right up against it, so that is the tricky part of this whole process.

Josh, I'm so sorry to hear about your health and all the trials you are facing. You must be incredibly strong to deal with these obstacles every day. Frankly, I'm in awe of your will and spirit. I don't think I could deal with so much hardship. Hearing your story, and others like it, really puts life in perspective. I really hope that your cancer treatments are successful, and that you are able to manage your schizophrenia. I'm so glad that you have things in your life that bring you joy - like Baldur's Gate. Yay for Beamdog! And yay for these forums. It's touching to know there's a place where people who've never met in real life can share their experiences and really be heard.

Keep playing and keep posting, Josh! May the force - or its Forgotten Realms equivalent - be with you!

There is an underground culture in our prisons where inmates will play D&D in secret because they are specifically prohibited from having dice or RP games because the power of escape that D&D can bring plays counter to them being incarcerated.

Never underestimate the freedom and joy RP games can bring.
