    Thanks for sharing the ending for both of them. I especially love how you wrote Dyanheir's one, how
    Minsc
    was mentioned. :)

    Leaving my review here, in case anyone interested. I think I will have her at least one more time someday, for romance, must be more
    tragic feel
    :)

    Would you consider implementing a check for I4E being installed to disable the Imoen-kidnap-mentions for a future version?
    Sorry, but that's not on my list. I prefer the original version of the story.
    Preferable does not necessarily mean non-compatible. I really appreciate having one constant companion, especially the one from the very start. As a modder I'm sure you understand this feeling.

    Nope, I do not :) BG1 NPC Project is also there, and none of my companions are continuing what's in that mod, because my interpretation of these companions is much different from what is in BG1 NPC Project, thus I do not bother more than I need to about it. Neither of my mods is going to crash your game if you install BG NPC Project or I4E, but I am not going to write my mods to work with every single mod/interpretation that is out there.

    Sometimes I may add such compatibility if I feel it's truly needed, but this one is not such a case, sorry.

    Furthermore, I do think these games need new choices and not everyone from BG1 needs to stay for a whole game. I wrote some of those NPCs, but that's because I do enjoyed writing them, it was a challenge I enjoyed, not to keep the composition the same from the start till the end. I actually think that a certain rotation is cool, thus I wrote Juniper who is a ToB-only companion, and Mother Lost who is a SoD-only companion, or White who is BG1-only NPC.

    If you feel my mod mentioning a vanilla event is a deal-breaker for you, then perhaps you should add a different companion to the roster (instead of Dynaheir)--there are many cool options :) And if there are authors who wish to add compatibility via Crossmod Banter Pack (and I am not talking only about I4E), as I did with Khalid and Dyna (if both mods -- let's say Dyna and I4E -- are detected), then I'm still around and ready for cooperation, but since I do not use all the mods out there and (in this specific instance) I don't even like Imoen, then I am not going to suddenly writing crossmod for something that isn't something I will ever play or enjoy.

    Cheers!

    Disclaimer: I do not think I4E is a bad mod, Jastey is a skilled and experienced and great modder, it's just a mod I do not use, because it's not the story I want to play and I won't write content I *personally* won't enjoy creating.

    Can I ask without spoilers how important is Minsc's role in this whole thing? Is he mentioned? Are there talks about him? I am willing to try it but the problem is that i love Minsc and he is a legendary element of whole universum. Smoldering mods review is mentioning his appearance here and there

    Cheers

    Sure! I am still going to use a spoiler tag in case someone wanted to have exactly 0 information about it, though:
    In the very beginning, when we encounter a machinery that is keeping Dynaheir's body in some tube, he smashes the thing and a strange surge takes him away. The very same surge brings back Dynaheir. Minsc is replaced by Dyna for a whole SoA and ToB, but there are many talks about him with Dynaheir, as part of her story is to find out if he's alive and what happened to him and how is it's possible that she's breathing again.

    The mod has left the beta phase, and v1.0 is now available. This version includes text improvements as well as some preparations for it to work on EET. While you should be able to install it on EET, it still requires testing. Keep that in mind.

    Looks like you corrected an English line in v1.2, so I'm re-uploading the Chinese translation to keep it in sync.

    Wow, this is huge, I freaking loved her romance in BG 1 via the BG NPC project, my favorite one from the whole game in fact, super emotional stuff. Did you make this as a continuation of that by any chance? Or is it just its own thing that doesnt acknowledge that mod?
    Thanks.

    I am not a huge fan of BG1 NPC Project, so it's not much of a continuation. Besides, the way he returns is also somewhat of a puzzle and leaves her in shock, so she's mostly focused on what just happened.

    I answered a similar question before on my own forums, so I'll paste the info here as well.
    Hi! Remember, romance is only in ToB, it's more like an addition. The main path, one that is more detailed, is the sisterhood path, a greater friendship only for female characters, a relationship that helps her grow. It's especially visible in SoA.

    In ToB you can romance her (if you are not in a sisterhood relationship, nor in a romantic relationship with other characters). And there is no gender check for that, so yes, female CHARNAME that is not following the mentioned sisterhood path may also show romantic interest in her and pursue the romance in ToB.
    You can still tell her that you have / had a crush on her during SoA, and get 2 unique talks, she will tell you that it is not what she wants for now, but it will not destroy the romance, and she will remember that in ToB

    Hi Lava, we found that several lines of text in L#DYNCS1.baf and L#DYNCS2.baf were not extracted into the .tra file.
  • LavaDelVortelLavaDelVortel Member Posts: 3,253
    @MephistoSatanDevil -- that's... correct. I extracted them locally. I need translation for these lines:
    @160 =  ~Dynaheir... I will save you! DYNAHEIR!!!~ [L#DYNMI1]
    @161 =  ~AAAAArrrrrr!~ [L#DYNMI3]
    @162 =  ~What is this...?~ [L#DYNMI4]
    @163 =  ~No, no, no, no, no, no...!~ [L#DYNMI5]

    Send them, please, and I'll update the translation and then the mod itself.

    @160 = ~戴娜黑……我会救你的!戴娜黑!!!~ [L#DYNMI1]
    @161 = ~啊啊啊啊啊啊!~ [L#DYNMI3]
    @162 = ~这是什么……?~ [L#DYNMI4]
    @163 = ~不,不,不,不,不,不……!~ [L#DYNMI5]

    As a great fan of the BG1 NPC Project, I’m glad to say that your interpretation of Dynaheir feels faithful to me anyway, despite your dislike for it. :) It’s only the matter of her curious diction that stands out – going by the few lines in the vanilla game, it is not only Elizabethan but also at times simply grammatically wrong. This may be due to ignorance on the writers’ part, but the NPC Project ran with it and played it straight as a mark of her foreign upbringing, having only learned Common from old books, which I found quite charming.

    Still, I agree that making this mod compatible with the old romance would be a fool’s errand. That romance is full of foreshadowing of impending tragedy, which is precisely what makes it so beautiful, and truth be told has therefore not really blended in tonally since the days of Tutu (with its little ending cutscene). If one were to write its continuation, one would first have to adjust it to SoD at the very least. So maybe it is better to pick one or the other…

    This is why I feel sceptical of Imoen Forever as well. Players who choose that mod should think of it more as a tweak rather than expect a narratively coherent experience. Imoen’s abduction forms one of the core motives of the game, after all, and beating around the bush with regard to it for compatibility’s sake would only make other mod characters sound anodyne.

    My relationship with the BG1 NPC Project can be somewhat... complicated. I mean, none of my mods continue BG1 NPC Project, but I try not to make my mods like a complete inversion of what's in that mod. I just go with my own ideas, but I don't want my mods to become a statement of my mixed feelings towards the NPC Project. So I focus on what I want to say, on themes I feel are important in regard to these specific characters.

    It's always difficult to write a continuation of an existing NPC, especially when one realizes that the Dynaheir we know from oBG and the Dynaheir from the BG1 NPC Project differ, too. In the end, I wanted to tell a story about fate, about fear, hope, and being unsure of how one should fear when being saved, and the price for her life was paid by someone else.

    So, yeah, this mod is different to BG1 NPC Project, and my style is probably different from the one used by BG1 NPC Project's Dynaheir author (mostly because we are two different writers), but it doesn't mean I made my work contradict the other mod. Perhaps that allows some players to enjoy both the Project and my mod at the same time--I certainly hope it works like that. I wanted all players to be able to find something for themselves in my mod, and there is a story I hoped would match themes many Dynaheir fans would find interesting. And in regard to the romance: I think everyone knows I'm a sucker for romances, but sometimes characters need to get some space to change, so I gave Dynaheir exactly that--at least in the Shadows of Amn--and later on, she's just a new version of herself. One that already had to learn a thing or two.

    Cheers!
