The Beamdog Client and the Beamdog store (https://store.beamdog.com/ ) will be retired on December 8, 2025. For more information on what that means, and how to continue playing your previously purchased Beamdog games refer to our frequently asked questions below.

About the Client & Store retirement

What was announced for Beamdog Client & Beamdog Store?

Beginning on December 8, 2025, we will no longer support The Beamdog Client and the Beamdog store (https://store.beamdog.com/ ). Until this date, purchases made in the Beamdog store will continue to be supported. This will not impact how the currently owned games and DLC are actually played. Players will be able to continue playing games they already own. The site itself (https://store.beamdog.com/ ) will continue to function, but you will not be able to create new accounts and/or make new purchases there.

Are you shutting down multiplayer services for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition and other Legacy D&D titles?

No. You'll still be able to play multiplayer as usual on all your owned games and DLC.

Are MythForce and Axis & Allies 1942 Online affected?

No.

Are purchases of Beamdog games and DLC from other platforms affected?

No.

Do I need to redownload all my content again before the Beamdog store shuts down?

No. You can continue to play or redownload all your owned games and DLC before on December 8, 2025 via the Beamdog Client. You can also continue to play all your owned games by launching them directly from their .exe files without any need for the Beamdog Client (as our games are DRM-free). After December 8, 2025, you can get keys for all your owned games and DLC on a platform of your choice: Epic Games, Steam, or GOG. To get the keys, you'll need to log into the Beamdog store and pick the appropriate game, DLC, and the platform you want a key for.

Can I change my associated email address and/or remove the Beamdog store account?

Yes. To change your associated email address and/or remove the Beamdog store account, you'll need to log into the Beamdog store and pick the appropriate option.

Will I still be able to get support when I have questions about my Beamdog store purchases?

Yes. You can still get support for any Beamdog store-related questions you may have at https://support.aspyr.com/hc/en-us.

Playing your games after the Beamdog Client and the Beamdog store retirement

How do I transfer my games to a new platform?

You can get keys for all your owned games and DLC on a platform of your choice: Epic Games, Steam, or GOG. To get the keys, you'll need to log into the Beamdog store (https://store.beamdog.com/ ) and pick the appropriate game, DLC, and the platform you want a key for. You can do that starting on December 9, 2025.

Can I still update my games if the Beamdog Client goes away?

Yes. The appropriate platform you use the key for will prompt for and install game updates when one is available.

Can I still play these games online and offline?

Yes. All the in-game content and functionality remain the same. You can play your games and DLC by launching them via the client the appropriate platform (Epic Games, Steam, or GOG) provides, or directly from their .exe files. GOG also allows you to download the games and DLC manually.

Can I get multiple keys for Beamdog games and DLC?

No. You can only get one key for each Beamdog game/DLC. So you need to decide what platform you want to get each key for. Note: you should pick the same platform for DLC keys and the main game key.

Purchases

Will I still be able to purchase DLC for my Beamdog games?

Yes. After you redeem the keys for your Beamdog games via the appropriate platform (Epic Games, Steam, or GOG), you can purchase DLC for these games via that platform.

Troubleshooting and errors

I'm trying to sign in to my Beamdog Client and/or Beamdog Store account and I'm seeing an error. Who can help?

You can get support for any question related to your Beamdog Client and/or Beamdog Store account you may have at https://support.aspyr.com/hc/en-us.

    The end of an era.

I’ll be honest, I’m sad to see the Beamdog store and client go away.

I hope the company is doing well and this doesn’t impact the possibility of a 2.7 update.

From the FAQ above - You can do that starting on December 9, 2025.

The store is down today with a maintenance page. The new system will launch tomorrow.

@JuliusBorisov On December 6–7, the Beamdog client was already not working.
In fact, this topic should have been posted earlier, not on the very last day.

This is not the best way to treat your fans and players. Aspyr support does not work either; it is just a generic reply with no real help.

Overall, thank you for the Enhanced Edition versions. However, to be honest, having a diamond like Baldur’s Gate in your hands, you could have done much more for the community and the players. I am confident that even if you had launched donations or crowdfunding for Baldur’s Gate–related projects, many people would have been willing to support and participate.

It is a great pity. A sad, but ultimately avoidable ending.

The links to the shop do not work for me because it tries to open https://store.beamdog.com/) which leads to an 404. JFI

Thank you for including other shops and especially GOG.

Sad day. Always kept the Beamdog client on my desktop. Guess I gotta make an account elsewhere.

I already have my SoD CE, but for those who might be interested in acquiring one, how would they go about it now that the Beamdog store is no more?
  • BaldurBaldur Member Posts: 57
I misclicked a button and for some bizarro reason I can't go BACK and change my choice for a game code. And if I want support I need to make an account for a completely seperate website. How is this considered efficient?

ohhh kay, so the answer is I CAN'T do it offline. Fun. Getting the steam codes now. *grits teeth*

We reached out to GOG, this is what they said: "We are sorry for our redeem system running into hiccups with DLCs, we're currently working on fixing that. It seems that retrying in a few days might solve the issue. It's best if the user submits a ticket to our Customer Support – that way there's a trace of the issue repeating, and you'll be directly updated on the current status". So please open a ticket with the GOG customer support.

So how do I UNPICK GOG as my code without having to register an account with an abominable data harvester site?

I'm sorry to be dense but I think I am going to need help with this. I have ten computers on a LAN at home. Of those ten five are on Beamdog client and five are of GOG. Each of the five GOG computers had to have an individual email login, most of which I've lost the information to but they all still work. The five computers that are (were) on the Beamdog client will have to be taken someplace besides GOG because I don't have another five email addresses to use for CD keys. I've never had a STEAM account but I don't object to opening one. Thing is I don't really want to open five steam accounts as I don't have the login information for all this stuff. I can see user names/email at the old client interface. Is that likely to be enough information?
I did try to log in to the Beamdog store this evening just before posting this but wasn't able to get in. It had an error like someone reported above, ma or something?
I've had all this set up for so long and never had to do any real maintenance because the client and GOG did it all for me. If I can figure out how toi do it with one PC then surely I can repeat the steps. The most recently added PC is one that I DO have the password to match the email on the client. I'm going to start with that and try to work my way backwards. Some of these desktop PCs are still running Windows 7, hoping that won't be an isue logging in to the store.
Typically if I post anything online it's at the Vault under the name TimG
In any event, I surely appreciate everything you've done for us over the years. Beamdog breathed new life into what is arguably the greatest multiplayer experience of all time.
    Thanks to all of you.

My SoD DLC also does not show in the library. I tried to do submit a ticket, and in the ticket, I need to specify my computer's technical specification. I can chose Linux, but then it only offers me Ubuntu. I am on MInt, I have no idea what I should chose. I also do not understand why this is needed for a ticket that refers to GOG's online library.
Sorry, my bad. For the ticket, I need to chose the overall type. I didn't notice, so it was in "Game technical issues". Changing to the appropriate category makes it possible to send a complain without requested tech info.

Still, this is not related to BeamDog's. Claiming the Redeem code worked fine.

This gets even more embarassing. SoD is there, as an additional download for BG:EE. Apologies for this post.
What I wanted to say is:
Claiming the redeem codes went straight forward, thank you BeamDog for the smooth transition.

having dug a little deeper it looks like the Steam system works like the GOG system does, each game copy IS tied to a particular email. I have the emails duplicated (for the most part) between Beamdog and GOG so copying the format over to Steam should work. Am I supposed to create a Steam account first or is clicking the blue box going to do that?
I've located passwords for three of five client copies so far so I am feeling pretty good about it all working out. If I have to buy a couple of Steam copies that isn't really a hardship. Getting it all to work is the worry as there isn't time to play if it is being spent on technical issues and free time is at a premium...

Clicking on the Steam button gives you the code to activate the game in Steam. You'll have to create a Steam account yourself.

Activating games with DLCs is a 2-step process. First, add/activate the game itself, and once that worked, add the DLCs. That means the whole game (base game plus DLCs) will need to be activated in 1 place. I did not check whether you can add DLCs to, e.g., an existing base game on GOG, but add the base game from Beamdog to Steam.

Where I am a bit at a loss is with a game version that cannot be activated anywhere, as is the case for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition Developer Build... I guess I'll survive not having access to it anymore :disappointed::smiley:

The dev build is no longer needed as a separate entry. Both on GOG and on Steam, you can pick the beta version if you so want (in the special tab for the game in your library).

I very much appreciate that you went to the trouble of giving multiple options rather than forcing me to get a Steam code. Thanks very much for that. I am having some trouble getting GOG to take the SoD code, but hopefully that'll get sorted out. I also appreciate that your games didn't have DRM and are still perfectly playable as is. Cheers.

@JuliusBorisov likely you cannot provide answers to these questions, but I'm just curious...

Is the closing of the Beamdog shop any indication of the future of Beamdog as a company?

The forums have been largely inactive as of late, and there has not been a lot of updates about the future plans for Beamdog.

The shuttering of the store could be because you no longer want to have to support and run these services, but it could also be a sign that Beamdog is as a whole in a downturn.

Can you let us know what's going on? Will we see more games from Beamdog in the future?

The Beamdog Client and Store sunset has been in progress for about a year, and we first started talking about it a few years before that. It’s been a long‑planned transition, so there’s nothing to be concerned about.

In 2025, we released an update for Axis & Allies 1942 Online on iOS, as well as the major 1.2 update for MythForce on PC and consoles. Volunteer NWN developers also shipped a new patch for NWN:EE on PC, which we later brought to mobile.

This same year, Obsidian launched Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2, and many of our team members contributed support and patching work to those projects.

We absolutely intend to keep creating new games in the future.

    Hi, @JuliusBorisov,

    Hoping you can help.

I had purchased NwN:EE through the Beamdog store. When I go to my account, I do not have an option to obtain a key for any other store other than Steam. The instructions note to click the green button; however, there are only 2 blue buttons, one for Steam and one for my CD key.

I would like to use GOG going forward but am not seeing a way to obtain a key for that platform.

    Thanks.

What about updates for BG:EE/SOD/BGII:EE? Are those in the realm of possibility or should we put that idea to rest?
