DESCRIPTION: Main GUI, Start Screen/Main Menu Options, Inventory Options, Button Options, Font Size Options, Record, Map, Journal, Priest Scroll, Mage Book, Options Menu, Save/Load, Popup Box and more. Download comes with all files in one easy installer package or manual install.

INSTRUCTIONS: If you are upgrading from a previous version make sure you do a clean install and remove all files from your override folder before starting. To ensure compatibility you will need to remove all mods/files from your override folder. Once Archaic GUI is installed, you may install any other mods/files to your override folder.

EzInstaller Instructions: Run "EzInstaller.exe" and make sure the installer is pointing to the correct install path for your BG:EE override folder ("Your BGEE install path\00766\override"). Next, select your customization options and follow on screen instructions. I have included screenshots of each customization option in the download zip file for your convenience. If you wish to change your customization options after install, you may simply run the installer again (without uninstalling) and change whichever options you wish. The uninstaller will be placed in your override folder. You may also uninstall from Control Panel: Programs and Features or Add/Remove Programs depending on your Windows version.

Manual Install Instructions: First you need to copy over the GUI/Core (required) files to your override folder. Next you need to copy over your guiw10.chu file in the scaled or non-scaled folders.
Then you can choose your custom options such as inventory, font & buttons. Make your selection for each custom option by placing the folders contents in
("Your BGEE install path\00766\override")folder or your custom install path. Make sure you are placing the files within the folder: .mos, .bam, .chu, etc... files in your override folder and not the actual folder 'Buttons, Fonts, etc'.

Archaic does not translate to cradle of life.
Abeir-Toril is archaic and translates to cradle of life, not that it really matters.
What matters is that you have made a very nice looking GUI, I like it!

@Tigerbalsam - Yeah, I guess I could have worded that a little better.

At that resolution, it looks more like an RTS than an RPG!

Looks very nice though, the GUI, like a BG:EE and BG2 mix.

Congrats ! it looks great !!!!!!
    Two questions :
    - Is it possible to enlarge portraits, buttons and have a larger text box ?
    - Do you plan to change inventory screens as well with this nice looking style ?

I agree adding those tweaks to the game would make the UI awesome, though I am not sure how it would look in the game
Great mod from what I have seen so far.

Which incidentally the Baldurs Gate series actually is more akin to. It's tactical combat - similar to Dragon Age 1 (on PC). Either way you can still zoom in the main window so it is zoomed to your preferred level (the game forgets this though so you have to adjust often - being worked on)

The colors are nice, but the ornamentation with the bhaal skull and everything is a bit eye-catching for something that's supposed to be background. I'd lose it.
  • ArchaicArchaic Member Posts: 924
@AK47 Thank you. This is the first Mod I've ever done and I'm learning while I go. I do not think I would be able to adjust the portrait size. I will be skinning the other screens such as inventory, record...etc.

@SpaceInvader Thanks. I don't know. Its something I will look into through the process. I'm new to Modding BG.

@Aliard1806 Much appreciated. I use photoshop to make textures.

@The_Guilty_Party I will play around with toning it down. Thanks for the suggestion.

@Magevil I actually liked the holy symbols of Bhaal spread at the bottom the UI. Any chance you'd give options of installing the botton bar with and without the symbols?
  • Notepic4Notepic4 Member Posts: 27
Awesome, I would love to test it out ;-)
  • ArchaicArchaic Member Posts: 924
@mlnevese - Honestly its a lot of work to do both. More than likely it is going to stay because I like it too. :)

I like it the way it is. I like that the GUI is small.
    Thanks for making.

I have but one question: is it possible to add more spell buttons?

No, the GUI of BGEE have the same limitations than the BG2 engine.

    That's a great work ! Close to BG2 GUI.

But I think like The_Guilty_Party, Bhaal's skulls should be removed in my opinion

I agree, I find them distracting based of their placement around the UI elements.

@Azureblaze @The_Guilty_Party - I can completely understand what you mean by the skull being distracting so close to UI elements. However, I've been playing with it like this for a few days now and you don't notice it after awhile. I'm still undecided about whether I will keep it in the final version or not. Thanks for the feedback. Beta coming soon...
