So has the app been resubmitted yet? If not, there is no way it's going to be released this year.

That doesn't really answer the question though, does it.. I assume, from the last bit of information that we did get that it already has been resubmitted.. but I'd like to know also if it is now in the hands of the great almighty Apple gods.

I can wait.. oh yes, I can wait.. but I'm just curious now that we nearing the end of the week that they estimated it would be delayed to. Not asking for an exact date or even an estimate, since it's up to Apple if it has been submitted.. but that's just it.. I don't see the confirmation that it has been submitted or not.

That's exactly what I thought when he gave me that reply. It seems ovbvious though that the game has not been submitted so we will be very lucky if we see it this year.

    Hopefully it's out before christmas

There isn't much time left. iTunes connect is closed Dec 21-28, so if they are going to have a shot they need to submit a build no later than the end of next week.

Mac version will definitely be pushed to end of December/early Jan.

Double ditto. I have the PC version though - but I'm on the road from next week so don't really want to get too deep into that. Cancun for 8 weeks (back 4th Feb) really wanted to take BGEE with me for the journey. (13 days to get there cruise ship UK to New York - New York to Mexico - I don't fly) No appstore on first leg of cruise either I'm told. Oh well. Late night poker sessions in the casino like last year. I paid for the cruise twice over with last years winnings so there is always an up-side

Good thing an iPad is good for so much other stuff you still got your money's worth.

You can download it on the cruise ship if it comes out...just might cost a few bucks. Ok dozens of bucks.

    Quote from Twitter:

"@MishalAdamjee I think the lesson I've learned recently is don't say dates until you have 100% confidence in them. I'm not there yet."

I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.

Congratulations to this community for taking a company that was tweeting regularly about status, releases and process and turning them into what the statement above means.

Another company afraid to communicate with their customers.

If you have posted on this board with statements talking about them missing the release dates, being incompetent for missing releases, or anything of this nature this is YOUR fault.

YOU caused this lack of communication. YOU are the ones to blame when you don't get the information you want as quickly as you want it.

When is the human race going to get as smart as the rest of the animal kingdom and realize we should stop shitting in our own nests.

    --Illydth

Lol. Or maybe he has just realized the obvious, as he says. Missing release dates makes them look bad, so don't tweet that shit. I really don't think a few whiners on the forum are the sole reason for this realization. And it isn't the grandiose backsliding of humanity you describe. It's professionalism, and respect for the nature of the beast.
It'll be out when it's out. We don't need to know the updates and progress on every build and submission.
It seems to me that the developers in this case felt a little bit more part of the community than, for example, COD developers and enjoyed communicating and being open. Many in the community enjoyed this. Unfortunately, this results in a small percentage of individuals ranting about irrelevant nonsense. Why is "looking bad" even an issue? That is a problem between them and the judgmental people who feel a need to feel superior.

To go back to Illydth's comment, we have ended up at the platitude "you can't please everyone". Catering to those of us who like updates based on the dev team's best guesses displeases certain people who get self-righteous when problems arise. Every software and hardware product being sold has people making such complaints on some forum on the Internet. Perhaps one lesson for the devs is to ignore forums like this because they will always be chaotic.

At least this is better than "fanboy" wars in comments sections...

If you go into a restaurant, order a meal and wait like 2 hours when they told you it would be made in 30 mim

    Would you not complaim ?
  • BigityBigity Member Posts: 98
    Not quite the same.

Regardless, complaining and whining are not the same.

This has happened to me. Usually we just order more alcohol and eventually forget that we're hungry. When the meal finally does arrive, its a pleasant surprise. LOL

I was reading some on the iPad 1 memory issues. The article I'm referencing says that apps listed in the multitask bar are not using any system resources. Some apps like Mail and GPS do continue to operate.

Wouldn't the "to be safe" approach be to close down everything in the multi task bar?

The analogy is not the same.

If a 'work of art' is not ready when the artist thought, how am I impacted?
    I am not.

    What is my loss?

To not play a game (however good) does not deprive me of anything as I can do other things.

A restaurant has promised a service from the point I sit down. A game promises a reasonably bug free experience from starting the game. If it's too buggy, the release grumbles will quickly become bug grumbles. If the game is not available, it just isn't. Nobody died. I am not inconvenienced as I have my time and my liberty. There are other things I can do. I would much prefer the makers take the time they need to get it right.

Otherwise it becomes - 'I have submitted some code, I have been to bathroom, my dog thinks it's ready but I don't know what Apple think....'

    Enough already...

I too am looking forward to the iPad version, but will wait patiently until it is ready and have no wish to beat up those who are bringing it to me. I have no doubt they are doing the best they can and the pressure isn't helping...

@TrentOster: We've made a lot of progress on the iPad build of the game. But, we are seeing out of memory problems on the iPad1.”

About time for iPad 1 users to upgrade! :P

It's a service, like any other.

Games are not art imo, but there are many who disagree...

They promissed the game in november, its december, so yeah, there's a fault.

    Pressure is inevitable.

I would encourage anyone anxiously awaiting the iPad version to look into using remote desktop and the PC version.. If one thing is clear, beamdog cannot be counted on to release this anytime soon.
  • scrittyscritty Member Posts: 10
Yeah - games aren't art. The app not coming out is no massive deal. No need to bust a nut over it. Two sides to this. From a gaming point of view, it's a shame it's not out, but hey - there are other things to do.

From a professional point of view it's not very good to give a couple of dates and miss them. While we guys and girls here on the forum know all about the trials and tribulations of the development team, we aren't the majority.

Most people who buy this game are likely just to pop here and take a peek. See a date, watch a vid, never join the forum but make a quick mental note and leave.
There are loads of games (some of which I end up buying) that I never take the slightest interest in the community or forums before or after launch. I spot them, see the website, make a note and leave. Check the forum stats "visitors vs reistered visitors".... most (the vast majority) have no intention of ever getting involved with a "discussion" about a game. They have a day off or a week off or just a "gaming itch" to scratch. They type in some search term in Google regarding the genre they like, end up here, take a look, make a mental note..and then leave

The "strobe" view these people are seeing is "game release date1 announced - game release1 date missed - game release date2 announced - game release2 date missed - game no longer has release date"

Some won't care and it will not affect their decision on buying the game one way or another - others may (may) assume the game is vapourware or the game designers are incompetant and wave "bye bye"

At the best that's a shame because sales may be lost of a perfectly good game
At the worst it's a little unprofessional. Making games is a business, if you set a date in a business and fail to meet it, your boss normally gives you a kick up the back-side (metaphorically of course). MIss two and (in any business I've known) it might be a disciplinary or even dismissal.

I have decided to play the PC version, and it does work reasonably well - so I'm not axe grinding here.
Good on them, I'll get the Ipad version whenever it comes out.

I'm glad to hear about lots of progress.

Time to start figuring out my PC and party configuration I suppose.

By iPad 4 I can only assume you are referring to the iPad Mini.. which is in fact the same performance specs as the iPad 2.. only smaller. So if you have an iPad HD (iPad 3) then you currently have the best performing model at this time.

Hmm, iPad 3 hd got A5 chips @1GHz, and standard dock connector. iPad 4 has A6 chips @1.4GHz and lightning connector.

Like Billfrance said they have actually released the iPad 4 already. Seems pretty crazy for it to come out so soon. The only big improvement is the processor. Other than that it's nearly the same.

While we are waiting... What do you think about Spiderweb Rpg?
Avadon, Avernum 6... Are them real RPG like old black isle or more similar to eye of the beholder?

  • UlliamUlliam Member Posts: 4
My bad.. I wasn't even aware they updated the processor & connector on that model. As mentioned, not much difference at any rate.
