BG2:EE Necromancer first timer.

Hello, new to the forum and new to CRPG's. Just a little background, I've been wanting to play through some of these older CRPG's for years but have never been able to push myself through one. I've picked up BG:EE and BG2:EE and would like to get started straight into BG2:EE(don't ask why..)

What I want is to play a necromancer, poison, summons, the bad mojo type stuff. But I don't really know where to begin as I've never spent much time with any of these games. I've done a little reading and have seen class mods for BG:EE that improve necromancy stuff for sorcerer, but haven't found something similar for BG2:EE. So I was hoping you fine fellows could help me out with suggestions for building a necromancer or any mods to make a necromancer cooler/better/more fun.

Summoning is more the realm of the conjurer than the necromancer (apart from animate dead), If you go for a sorcerer(or a variation) you'll have to be very careful with you're spell picks as you won't get many. I reccomend going for a specialist mage but you'll have to ask someone more informed than I which would suit your play style the most (i think it would be either conjuration or necromancy but not sure).

Summoning isn't necessarily the most important thing, I enjoy like poisons and big debuffs and stuff like that as well.

Hello and welcome! It's always nice to have a new member:)

If you want to play as a necromancer with poison, I suggest that you make a multiclass mage/thief and with the EEKeeper (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/16497/ee-keeper-updated-to-v1-0-2#latest) change her into a mage/assassin and use only necromancer spells as a mage.

You should probably know Clerics gain animate dead at lvl 5 while Wizards gain it much later. I believe it was level 9 if I recall.

Yeah but other clerical spells are weak and not flashy enough when compared to mage selection. Clerics are more like 'support' characters that can contribute to a battle well enough, a party is so much better with a cleric in its mix than without. But high lvl mages are game winners on their own.

Kind of "Necro-ing" this thread, heh, but there this mod for BG:EE, BG2:EE, and IWD:EE called Tome and Blood by the awesome @Aquadrizzt. I'll place the link below.
