Maximizing Stats

GrumGrum Member, Mobile Tester Posts: 2,100
So a thought occurred to me...which races can abuse equipment to get the highest possible stats? Some thoughts...

Elf Swashbuckler (Dex 19) with Hawksight (scimitar that gives +1 dex), Shuruppak's Plate (+1 dex), Malla's Soul Stone (+1 dex), Tome, Lum and Deck of Many Things = 25 dexterity.

Half Orc (Str19 Con19)
Tomes (+1 Str and +1 Con)
Hell (+2 Str and +2 Con)
Lum (+1 Str and +1 Con)
Deck of Many Things (+1 Str)
Axe of the Unyielding (+1 Con)
Malla's Soul Stone (+1 Con)

Strength: 24
Constitution: 25

Alternatively, replace Axe of the Unyielding with the Harmonium Halberd for +1 strength. Giving 25 strength and 24 constitution. Note, that if he also has Shuruppak's Plate and has Hawksight in the offhand, and starts with 18dex, he will have Dexterity 22 as well.

I can't find any way to get both strength and constitution up to 25.

Any race (Wis18)
Tomes (+3)
Hell (+1)
Lum (+1)
Deck of Many Things (+1)
Axe of Hrothgar if cleric/thief (+1) / Silver Ion Stone (+1)

Wisdom: 25

Any race with at lest 16 Charisma or just with the ring of human influence
Tome (+1)
Hell (+1)
Lum (+1)
Helm of Glory (+1)
Blade of Roses (+2)
Nymph Cloak (+2)
Axe of Hrothgar (+1)

Charisma: 25 (Yes, even for a dwarf)

Anyone know any way to get that half-orc up to 25 strength? Also, how high can you Int?

Note that the tome and Machine of Lum the Mad bonuses don't stack with items that set ability scores, though the Hell bonuses do. The Ring of Human Influence and the Tome of Leadership and Influence will only give you 18 CHA, but combining the ring with the Hell bonus will give you 19 CHA.

Gnomes and Halfings can't get that 18 Wisdom by the way

    Good catch.

Thinking to myself, for completely maximizing stats without cheating or rolling forever...

Roll up an elf and get a 90 roll. Which isn't impossible.

Strength: 9 (no bonuses and no penalties, the minimum for a fighter. In BG1 just use ranged weapons)
    Dexterity: 19
    Constitution: 17
    Intelligence: 9
    Wisdom: 18
    Charisma: 18

Equipment: Crom Faeyer, Hawksight, Shuruppak's Plate, Malla's Soul Stone, Nymph Cloak, all of the tomes, lum the mad, evil hell choice for constitution, good for wisdom/charisma

    Strength: 25
    Dexterity: 24
    Constitution: 22
    Intelligence: 11
    Wisdom: 23
    Charisma: 23

All of that with the not-too-hard roll of a 90. If you get better than that, just pump up intelligence. This creates a truly godly bhaalspawn. Well, statwise, at least...

Erm ... now I'm going from memory and not positive about this, but ... I think that's been fixed in the EEs, so that Hell bonuses now just upgrade your permanent base stat, the same as Tomes and the Machine, so that they no longer stack with stat-setting items.

@Grum - if your half-orc is a Cleric or part-Cleric, then s/he eventually (Cleric Level 25) gets the Holy Symbol of the appropriate-alignment god, which gives another +1 STR. However, being a Cleric means giving up the Axe of the Unyielding ... except, well, a Cleric/Thief could wield it under UAI, but with no proficiency, so it wouldn't be very good in combat.

Could a half off fighter/thief use uai to steal another cleric's holy symbol?

That'd get you up to 25 strength and constitution....

@Grum: They could, yes. That's an extra 2 STR if you use two at once.

Brilliant. Meaning that the Half-Orc Fighter/Thief could easily go:

Strength: 2x Holy Symbols, Tome, Lum, Hell for 25 Strength
Constitution: Tome, Lum, Hell, Axe of the Unyielding, Mala's Soulstone for 25 Constitution
Dexterity: Tome, Lum, Hawkeye, Plate, Mala's Soulstone for 23 Dexterity

Got to resist the urge to roll that up. Finish it up with either 22 Wisdom or 22 Charisma, both easily attainable.
