Thanks. I thought so. I don't recall how it exactly worked prior to the patch but it's definitely weaker. I think it's a pretty substantial nerf to a class that doesn't need it.
The ability deals damage on the initial hit regardless of the target's saving throw; the ongoing poison effect is negated by a successful save. And a target can only be "hit" with the poison once per round, regardless of their saving throw.
Well I like the level scaling so that the ability isn't overpowered in BG1. But it's still weaker overall. Before it did ongoing damage (to a lesser degree) if the save was made. Now it does not. This sounds similar to how it was done in the Rogue Rebalancing Mod. I just think it's a bad nerf when your assassin is a higher level.
Got a trick to you all. Use explosive arrows(they are easy to get now in SOD) with poison and observe as everyone hit with the blast gets hit with poison as well. IT IS GLORIOUS!
Well I just read the thread bengoshi posted. Can't believe I missed it. But I agree with most of the complaints made. It's better balanced for lower levels but is a terrible nerf for higher levels.

Hi Dee, in my bg1 blackguard game enemies were saving against poison and taking zero damage (not even on initial hit). I don't know if I still have the save or not. If I do I'll report via Redmine.

If they're not taking even that initial damage, then that's probably a bug and worth reporting.
