The entire Steam key issue is in the hands of Atari. They put the game on Steam and are in control of any Steam keys. I really suggest anyone who wants a Steam key to attempt to contact Atari and make their request known.

Granted Nathan had a statement a couple days later (both are in this thread btw) saying they were still trying, but my guess is he wasn't quite in the loop that it had been shot down. The fact there hasn't been any further news one way or the other seems to confirm it.
Really though, how hard is it to open steam and add the game's .exe as a "non-steam game"? I've done it and it works perfectly. Can launch from steam and I get the in-game overlay. And I don't have to wait weeks on end for Atari to push the patches. Win!

Does it work correctly for you?
It doesn't for me, it's not really that big of a problem but it's something I miss a lot some times. I tried with every patch since release and several steam updates and always the same problem, the overlay just doesn't work/show up. The worst part is, since the overlay it's only bugged with BGEE I can't really think of anything I can do to fix it.

It works for me, though only if using the game's .exe, not the launcher.

Very funny (because you're joking right ? Sometimes it is hard to tell from a post without emoticons).
