EEEHH that's horrible, I feel bad for that show and I don't even like that show. It's so depressing and full of lolis, Yuck! that voice acting is cringe worthy.
Gods I hate lolis.
Anyways good stuff this season is hidden amongst like a 1000 lame slice of life snorefests and even more lolis, Yuck. The good stuff is really good though.
We have One-Punch man and wow did Madhouse outdo themselves on this one, I haven't seen animation this good since Redline.
Shaft brings more gatari to the table, this time it's Owarimonogatari and it's just as amazing as the rest of the gatari series.
Last there is the second season of Noragami. "Noragami Aragoto" and it's as good as first season.
Nothing else has really peaked my interest, there is the yuri thing with girls getting off then turning into weapons, then battles happening, but it just looks so so stupid and I've never been that into yuri anyway. Also the thing with the superheros looks kinda cool.
Honestly, Akame ga Kill (or Akame ga Kiru, as I'm used to it being called since I read it on a manga website) has lost its interest for me. I still read the new chapters, but when they consistently kill off favourite characters... I mean, sure, killing a few major players makes for a nice twist (A little George R.R. Martin method, so to speak), but when literally no one is safe and it kind of makes it seem like everyone will be dead by the end, it's hard to grow attached to anyone.
So, kind of a funny story. My pet sitter likes to watch Anime on my Netflix account while I am away. As a result, I end up with a bunch of stuff 'Recommended' for me in queue. One night I figured that I would try out whatever was being promoted at the time. I ended up watching about 4 episodes of 'Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians', Anyone seen this? Or understand what the heck it is about? Somehow I expected more Giant Robots and space aliens and less girl on girl action, (or at least if the latter then more tentacles etc...).
There... are no ends to the pool? It's kind of a messy oblong shape with an undulating bottom.
For instance, There are places where giant robots are normal like Code Geass, places where physics get a bit awkward like Ikki Tousen, then there are places where both are out of control like Godannar.
The safe(er) way to get into the pool is to fond someone who has watched a variety of series, tell them the kind of movies you like, and have them recommend a tame(er) option from that group. ie, my dad likes shootout shows, so I might recommend Trigun before Hellsing Ultimate.
Do you prefer the longer series or the Samurai X series? I got a bit burnt out by the length/comedy of the longer one.
I prefer the longer original anime to Samurai X. The first 3 -4 arcs of the original anime are great, but it does start to lose focus after the Kyoto Arc (this is because it caught up with the manga and instead of waiting for new manga chapters they simply made up their own stories).
I never really liked the OVAs either. So yeah, I prefer the anime and the manga over anything else... but the live action triology is also pretty good. I haven't watched the "New Kyoto Arc" yet, so I don't have an opinion on that, but I've heard they cut out a lot of content so I'm not really in any rush to watch it.
O_O I thought that was a fan made trailer. I guess I'll have to watch that soon.
Yeah, it's basically the Japanese equivalent of the Dark Knight Trilogy (but better, imo). It's very faithful to the manga, only making changes when necessary. The changes that were made don't feel tacked on and are handled really well too. The actors are all spot on too, so that's a plus.
If you like Kenshin then I'm fairly confident you'll love the live action films. Only trouble is finding some way to watch them. I've been considering buying the BluRay set soon, because I originally watched them by less than "legal" means and would like to re-watch them.
It's so weird to see the digimon look exactly the same as they did in the original show, and their human counterparts got a whole redesign. Not sure if I like it yet or not. But definitely worth checking out!

As of this moment, it isn't officially licensed in the US for distribution.
However, FUNimation screened the 3rd one at Fantasia back in August, so it's probably just a matter of time before they announce the license for it.
