@Battlehamster: If I were you, I'd think twice about abandoning my old Xbox 360. Neither of the next-gen consoles quite enthralled me... Especially the Xbox One with Microsoft's many hilarious blunders...
Based on what I've read so far, DA III is going to be available on 360 as well as Xbox 1, which would be good for me as I'd hate to have made all these choices and be unable to have them carry over because I can't move it to another console.
For those of you worrying about how consoley the game is looking, apparently a separate, PC focused UI is still being developed that may address that to some extent. That isn't how the game will look on PC I think.

I will give bioware another chance. They have been letting me down, I'am sure we could write a book about why DA2 is how it is. But maybe they learned something with it, and I'am curious what they can make with frostbite tbh... (the general idea is that there are some good devs at bioware right now imo) Still not curious enough for a pre order.
I'm predicting similar requirements to Battlefield 4, seeing as both seem to share an engine. It's a very crude way to judge this sort of thing, but I think being able to run one should mean you can run the other.
I'm debating this one big time as unfortunately, the gaming evil that is EA has made it QUITE clear that every game in the foreseeable future will be DRM. Effing azz-hats think that will stop pirating...it's failed. To ea it is a matter of control, not piracy. They've become quite the megalomaniacs these days. It's easy to see what they're attempting to do & nothing made that clearer than Sim City. It HAS to be drm controlled since the majority of the game itself, including all of the stats, calculators and the stupidest, laziest AI ever devised is all server side. So you're essentially buying 1/2 a game at full price for a dumb AI and some minor calculations which could still easily be hacked and improved upon and played off-line. So 1st I will wait and see and read more about it in gaming conventions, see what reviews it garners from trusted sites and make a decision based on that. Bioware need to get back to their roots and give EA the effing boot.
People have wondered, debated and predicted for years what would kill pc gaming. EA's new gen of gaming control is what will kill computer gaming. (well that and all these new-fangled git-ups like ipads and their ilk lol).
PS: thought i'd add that if anyone ever saw the interview with will wright about the newer sim city, he said the right words but looking at his face and body language, it seemed to me that he was NOT impressed with where maxis and ea were heading with his baby. Or I may simply have made the wrong interpretation of his reaction. If I can find it somewhere, i'll post a link to it.
I don't EA a tidbit anymore. Simple as that. They've made Bioware the hollow shell they are today. And I spit on the mess that is Sim City. One dude managed to completely bypass the whole online DRM bullshit, proving you can just as well play the game offline, only that EA is trying to hinder you from doing so because of their overly neurotic control issues.
@ajwz This may be slightly more to your liking, most of the combat is in the isometric view and is very reminiscent of Origins. Remember too that this is all console footage, PC will probably have a better zoom out.
Also, short range teleportation confirmed, which is always fun.
Based on the videos being posted, I may actually buy this at some point, if nothing else, just to take a look at what seems to be a step forward in graphics technology. I don't ever go for graphics over gameplay, but I'm always interested in progress toward finally having that holodeck in my house.
A couple of things, I'm still not too sure about, though. It looks like the game has an uncustomizable, forced player character again. Also, my experience has been that teasers for games often show the opening cinematics, as opposed to the actual game. And, the teasers don't really show the user interface very much.
The mere fact that it's being designed for consoles is also a red flag to me. That usually means very simplistic controls, and few or even no options for customization. (I mean, customization of your character and his/her actions, not the world history parameters they're advertising.)
I just don't know yet. But I'm remaining open-minded, and cautiously optimistic.
I just looked at the video @Tome posted, and that one shows a lot more of the user interface and actual gameplay. It looks very interesting. So yeah, cautiously optimistic that I might want to play this.
The full info that was revealed for PAX so far, includes the following:
1) Tactical view is back for all platforms. There is also more direct battlefield control, with spells that block line of sight so you position yourself better and take cover.
2) Customization is almost limitless and the armor system more free. You can have your Warrior in heavy armor, or leather and fur like Conan to achieve what you want. Additionally, you can have your Mages in heavy armor if you wish(yes they did it), and through customization, make your distinct appearance. Like, plate and robes/overcoat on top, so it looks like your appearance this time around is something that you will decide, you won't be restricted into anything, and will not look generic no matter what you do. You can craft your own gear, name your weapons, and also select the appearance of what you craft and customize it as you see fit, color included.
3) Weapons are expected to be class restricted, but more options will be probably available, plus they were open about alternatives but won't say anything more yet. They are probably still thinking about that.
4) 4 Races to choose, Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Qunari. It has been hinted that you can change your height/body type, but it's not confirmed. A follower named Vivienne appears taller than Cassandra. First time we see Qunari. The only class restriction is still no Dwarven Mages. Everything else goes.
5) Animations are more realistic, with a physics engine that makes you feel like your character has weight a la demon/dark souls. Your character reacts to any alteration of the ground.
6) Paraphrasing in the dialogue wheel has a toggle that allows you to see what your character will actually be saying.
7) No health regen after combat. Resources are limited. This will be toggled by difficulty as well. Additionally, friendly fire has a toggle as well.
8) They won't say anything about specializations yet, and i couldn't find out anything from the panel, however it has been hinted that you will only choose one specialization, which will affect your story and backround more. Old specializations did not feel special enough.
9) Environment can be used to your advantage.
10) The combat looks like a slower version of DA2, but faster than DA:O. It gives a more action feeling some times, but in the end there is tactics involved as well as we saw.
11) You can take Keeps and customize them into military bases, merchant sites or something else i can't remember. You can also choose to defend them or take decisions about them.
I can't remember anything else for now.
Personally, i was waiting for info like this so i could decide what to do with it.
I can honestly say that i am satisfied with what i saw, and i came to the conclusion that, they at least learned something from past mistakes.
@Mornmagor: If what you said is true, then I'll also be cautiously optimistic. I really hope this will be a mindblowing game. I want to have my faith in Bioware restored.
Well, they surprised us, i can say that, in a good way. The videos i saw were pretty well developed for a pre-alpha build.
We'll see how it turns out, but for now, it looks promising.
@Drugar Actually races will have a different backround from each other and will affect your gameplay a lot. Some options might be closed. From what the devs said so far, you're not a follower of the Qun probably.
5) Animations are more realistic, with a physics engine that makes you feel like your character has weight a la demon/dark souls. Your character reacts to any alteration of the ground.
Yet the heavy-armoured character in the trailers tumbles like a bloody gymnast.

I usually use canyourunit.com but I doubt if they've got Dragon Age III listed already. Strangely, I'm getting a blank page there now.

I do believe that they won't do origins like in Origins, where you start off differently depending on your race/background. A shame, but oh well.
We'll see how it turns out, but for now, it looks promising.

Yeah, the roll needs to go.
