Your favorite class?

SniiiimonSniiiimon Member Posts: 153
Hello everyone! I don't know if there's a similar or exactly-like-this-one poll out there (I couldn't find one), but anyway... which class is your absolute favorite and why? If it's a specific kit, please state which one.

Edit: If it's a dual- or multiclass... then I'm sorry, I totally forgot about them. ._.

I'll start.

My favorite class is easily the paladin, despite all of its cons. There are several reasons for this: for one, I like the whole "holy knight" aspect of it. I think being a warrior-priest servant of a chosen deity... well, sounds bloody awesome. Secondly, I've always liked being the good guy. And paladins... well, you know. Thirdly, I think is fun to rp as one, even if I find it a bit challenging at times. I mean nowadays I have little to no trouble avoiding Lawful Stupid territory (thank you, Book of Exalted Deeds).

But when Imoen wants to start looting the bodies of our fallen enemies (or even locations long-forgotten)... or when my charname falls in love with Viconia... or when my charname has to tackle the whole affair with the Shadow Thieves and Bodhi's vampires... or when my charname needs to sneak into a drow city disguised as one of them... Yeah. At times like that, it's not easy to be a paladin, I'll tell ya. Not even a slightly unconventional one.

Even so, I've always loved this class and I probably always will!

How about you guys? :)

Druid via Cleric/Ranger. I love the cleric in D&D, not so much in every RPG(MMO) out there. So, going with Druid as base.

I love playing a mage. I enjoy being a scholar of the arcane and the idea of having a tower with loads of cool gadgets.

In fact, one day when I accomplish my dream of building my own house: I will also build a tower which will house my books ;)

Oh, right. I forgot about dual- and multiclasses. Oopsie daisy.

Fighter/Thief is my personal favorite :)
The fighter class itself I always found to be very dumbed down with ad&d, so the vote goes to the thief part of this mixture.

My favourite classes tend to be the 'hybrid' classes: Bard, Paladin, Ranger, mainly. I'm also a big fan of Multis and Duals for the same reasons.

    Fighter/Thief.

    @Eudaemonium

Yeah, I like the other hybrid classes as well. In fact, a fond character of mine, Harodrim Murkwood, is a ranger. He's my canon charname in NWN: SoU. I also like the fighter/mage dual-/multiclass. Because... well, I just do. :P

With a caveat. "Mage" does not include Sorcerer!!! They are in my estimation quite a different thing altogether. (personal opinion)

Growing up, I always enjoyed reading about Gandalf in the Hobbit and in The Lord of the Rings. Classic stuff. Later on, I read and thoroughly enjoyed the Dragonlance Saga primarily because of Raistlin. I just love extremely intelligent but otherwise unremarkable adventurers being able to manipulate forces that can literally shake the foundations of reality. Plus, I don't want to worship anyone to be powerful.

My first Charname was a Fighter/Mage Multi (Well, my first was a Ranger, but I didn't get far with him; the F/M I played all the way to ToB). I just finished EE with a Skald and a F>T Dual. I want to do a Swashbuckler>Cleric, but regrettably I can't put pips into anything other than Clubs or Quarterstaffs XP (I want my dual-flailing Swashie/Cleric, dagnabbit).

Oh I know, @the_spyder. I know. But there was only room for ten poll options. I didn't know what to do! I wanted separate options for the Barbarian and Blackguard as well. -_-

    I love being a Paladin.

    Being Evil takes effort.

I love being a Thief (or something between a Thief and a Fighter) and actually use my head to win encounters.
Being a Lawful Stupid Paladin is too easy.

i definately want a mellee class without stealth and i don't want to be into organised religion

but i also want to avoid the theme of me being the brute that smashes everything in it's way,if possible i want my char to have some abilities(non physical i mean) for use against tougher enemies
in bg it would be fighter/mage using spells if greatly outnumbered or vs bosses/casters

I like thief-mage combos. I like the self-sufficiency and having all of the tricks up my sleeve.

Sorcerer hands down. If I could make a sorcerer multi I might try that one too. Also love Bards, especially in tabletop RPGs (don't play ad&d, I play with a unique hungarian system). Right now I'm also thinking about trying out a Fighter/Thief multi-class for a multiplayer playthrough with some friends, since with a thief you always have something fun to do (pickpocketing, lockpicking, finding traps, going into stealth before battles...)

It is a split between the Fighter, Ranger, Cleric, Thief and combinations of the 4. Than again, I also really like the Blackguard, well, to be honest, the only two classes that are not "My Favorite" are the bard and the monk.

Long time fan of Paladins. In PNP I've played them more than everything else combined. In BG its more like 50/50. I like being the knight in shining armor, saving the day, making the world a better place. I do enjoy some of the dilemmas BG faces you with, often it requires a lot of thought to figure out how to play LG.

My favourite class is a bard. It's really fun to play as a bard, especially as a Jester or a Blade. Both from RP and abilities points of view.

I'm quite surprised this class don't get much love.

You can sing (also with a harp), you can charm other people with spells, you can PP them, you can fry some enemies with a fireball, you can kill Sarevok with one single spell (Chromatic orb), you can use any weapon you like, use any wand available, identify any item without problems.

Playing as a Jester is a very interesting experience, unmatched really. You can walk invisible through hordes of enemies and confuse them, after that watch them falling because of your party's fire.

Playing as a Blade is also pure pleasure, forcing you to micro-management (the thing I like so much). His Spins just shine in any battle.

If I have to pick a single class, I think Mage or Sorcerer. Starts out as a wimp who runs from kobolds and wolves, ends up as the most powerful character in the party.

I voted for a figther, but I always like gishes and imho it's really fun to play kensai\mage, berserker\druid or even a blade.

Hahaha, I just knew someone would vote on the "None of the above! >:D" option!

Also, I'm kinda suprised that the Mage/Sorcerer classes are in the lead. Well, that much of a lead, anyway. Maybe I shouldn't be?

My favourite DnD classes are Sha'ir ( i like all 2nd, 3rd and 4th edition verson of Sha'ir), Force mage and Shadow mage (Nethermancer 4th edition and shadowcaster in 3,5rd edition)
I do also like 4th edition Swordmage

It's pretty much equal between a cavalier (best paladin kit) and stalker for me. But stalker won out because it sounds more badass.

I really like to play the Paladin class. Turning the evil taint in me as a weapon of good. Although as a player I think I lean more to Neutral Good than Lawful Good. Rp wise my Paladin by the time she reaches Amm has realize that she enjoys smitting evil not because its the right thing to do, but because she enjoys killing things. Also she wants Imoen bad.

I voted cleric just to see the results, but it's not exactly true. I have several favorites, and I can't pick just one. I basically love to play anything with magical ability.

Clerics for Healing, Command, Silence, Hold Person, Animate Dead, Protection from Evil 10', Chaotic Commands, Raise Dead, Aerial Servants, and lots of other goodies that mages don't get.

Druids for Call Lightning, Insect Plague, Summon Fire Elemental, and the kits.

Mages for, well, everything. What's not to like? Nuking, crowd control, and anti-mage spells against other mages. A vital member of every team.

Skalds for the song bonuses. I love to stay invisible through the whole game and let my friends handle everything, because I'm a poet, a musician, and a lover, not a fighter. Plus, I'm into a little bit of everything. If needed, I can briefly turn visible, wave a wand, or toss in a Fireball or a Haste to help out the party mage. And, you get the best stronghold in Amn. Who wouldn't want to bring a little pleasure and civilization into a scary, violent world by sponsoring a theater?

Paladins because I like being a knight protector, and a defender of justice and good. I usually choose the inquisitor kit, because free True Sight and Dispel Magic at twice your level are just awesome powers. The wicked necromancer casts Mirror Image, Stoneskin, Minor Globe of Invulnerability, Improved Invisibility, and Mislead? No problem (waves hand in the air) - POOF. Now he's just a frail old man standing there in a bathrobe.

Hmm.. Should I be ashamed I have never played a bard?
