Does BG:EE use EAX (environmental audio)? IIRC, the original BG1 & BG2 used EAX, but I don't see it anywhere on the options menu for BG:EE. DirectSound is no longer supported on Win Vista, 7 or 8, but OpenAL is a workable alternative.
Does (or will) BG:EE support environmental audio again?
BG:EE does support EAX using OpenAL. There is no longer an option to turn it off, since, well...it works
My other question is regarding BG2:EE- is there plans to add new NPC-s other than the new ones in the prequel? It could really use some bad guys - as far as I can remember, there are like 3 evil NPCs in it :-)
I think that's the first time I've heard BG called a prequel... Yes, it has been pretty well spread around that there will be a new NPC meeting your specifications.
We're focusing on the BGEE update(s) and BG2EE right now.
Hey cerevant, since it's a ask anything, are you including Android Developement in this sentence ? Any estimation on the release date ?
I won't ask that early about BG2EE but i guess the IOS device release will be earlier than Android too ...
Planning to switch back to Apple Devices for a tab, since the apple store is much better toward game release for my project of buying a tablet computer. The information about Baldur's Gate is quite important for me actually since i'm a long term fan.
Sorry if this has been answered already... but will BG EE new NPCs (Neera, Dorn and Rassad) return in BG 2 EE? And if so, any indication as to where? (Irenicus' Dungeon? Near the exit?)
Also outside of those 3, are there any plans to add new NPCs into BG 2 EE?
It's been answered a couple of times, but yes, Dorn, Neera, and Rasaad will make an appearance in BG2:EE. There is also one other NPC that wasn't in BG1EE that will be in BG2EE.

Thanks for quick answer!
What I am getting at is that if I run with one of the new BG 1 EE new NPCs, would I be able to join up with them reasonably easily in BG 2 EE? Not just from a game mechanic point of view, but roleplay-wise as well.
Also do the BG 1 EE romances carry over in BG 2 EE? How would that affect the old BG 2 romances?
I know it will probably be a long time before BG 2 EE is released, but I am already planning a full BG 1 EE to BG 2 EE run, and looking for new portraits, so the above info would be really useful
Actually, I'm kind of curious about that as well: one of the things that worked quite well with the insertion of the new NPCs is that you can recruit them before the game really gets started - it's a straight line from the Friendly Arm Inn to Beregost to Nashkel, and all you have to do is take out Ekandor's group and Senjak/Dorotea.
Will Dorn, Neera, Rasaad and NPC #4 (does she have a name yet?) be available within Athkatla? Or are they late-game additions like Mazzy and Cernd?
To pass through personal shields, daggers must be wielded or thrown with a precise speed. Of course, using personal shields creates its own problems in desert areas by disturbing indigenous lifeforms (or when interacting with lasguns, but that's not a problem here), so if you want to see daggers flying fast, take your fight to the desert.
So it's been a while since I've actually answered more than one question at a time, and I apologize for that. There are some answers scattered throughout this thread, but here are some questions that I haven't seen answered (I'll be updating the FAQ as well). Expect a new Ask Us Anything thread in the next few hours.
Is there any chance, in some point in the future, of getting the BGII voice sets in BGI, and vice versa?
We have no plans to include the BG2 voice sets (or BG2 portraits) with BG1. The resources are separate for a reason (and in the case of portraits, including them would also rather spoil things for the BG2 NPCs). Once BG2EE is released, however, you should be able to fairly easily port the soundsets into BG1EE.
Okay, here's a tough one that probably won't get answered due to reasons but I have to ask anyway: of the many parent companies Beamdog petitioned to make the EE (Hasbro, WotC, Atari, BioWare/EA), which of them imposed the restrictions on changing existing content?
And a follow-up that will also probably not get answered: if Atari were the ones who made that stipulation, and Beamdog either acquires their rights to the IP or renegotiates with whoever actually gets them, will this allow the devs to make more content/story/character-related changes for BG:EE and BG2:EE?
We can't provide that information (in no small part because I'm sure it would cause someone's inbox to be flooded with questioning emails, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone).
In the original BG2, you had the ability to convert the alignments of three characters either through subquests (Anomen) or dialogue (Viconia, Sarevok). Will this be possible for Dorn, Neera, Rasaad or NPC 4 in BG2:EE?
You'll have to wait and see. We did our best to make the new NPCs believable (at least as much as is possible for a half-orc blackguard and a half-elf wild mage), so their personalities may evolve through the course of the game. Beyond that, I can't give much more information.
Better weather and day->night effects/transitions is definitely on the list.
...I hate to say it but this may be a feature that gets delayed due to the code-wrangling difficulties we've encountered to-date. But yes, this is for sure something that we want to overhaul.
By the way, does anyone know if Wisdom, intelligence and constitution have any other hidden benefits that I might not know about. Ive read that having a high intelligence gives more saves against certain spells. Can anyone back that up as I want to make another character.
This has been answered elsewhere, but for the sake of completion: Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma do not grant any bonuses beyond those listed in the (newly revised) manuals. The tables in the original game's manual were inaccurate. For full clarity:
Intelligence grants a bonus to Lore, and also affects the probability that you'll succeed when learning a new spell.
Wisdom grants a bonus to Lore, and (for clerics and druids only) also grants bonus spells per day.
Charisma grants a bonus to Reaction rolls when dealing with NPCs and shopkeepers.
Given things get solved and patches keep pumping there a chance we could get to choose our geared appearances a bit more in customizations in future patches, I feels silly that as fighter made I either get to have a unequipped cloth look or one in a elven chain, why can I not have the equipped arch mage robe look as multi-classes fighter/mage. Or they divided or split in some way that one can only have the appearance of one the categories technically?
Edit: Just wondered since I recall right one can see Ariel in BG 2 wearing robes as dual class Cleric/mage, so should be possible within the engine I would have thought.
It would be a much more involved change to make the animations dynamic in the way that you describe, so I wouldn't expect to see this implemented any time soon, if ever. If you want to change your character's animation, though, you can use EE Keeper; it's fairly straight-forward to change the avatar that's used.
BG2 EE: Please put in the quests that the original game cut. -Like the door where you need a rogue stone to enter. Was a quest around that, people found dialogue in raw files.
As @shawne pointed out, BG2EE will be much easier for the old mods to "bring forward", so you shouldn't have to wait too long for a number of those things to be implemented as mods, even if they don't get included with the core game.
On-topic: I'm certain there are probably caveats in-place, but a man has to try. What is your mother's maiden name, the name of your first pet and the true-name of Mephistopheles? Do hurry. What? No reason.
I have been told on numerous occasions that my mother was a hamster; Sadly I haven't known Mister Mephistopheles for very long, but based on what I know of him, I'm going to say...Ned? Does Ned sound about right? I'll go with Ned.
Android! ANDROID!!!
We'll have information fairly soon about a number of things, including the patch and Android. Keep your eyes peeled! (Not literally, of course.)
Cloud saves! CLOUD SAVES!!!
It's still "on the list", but right now we're focusing on making sure the game is stable and in a shape that people are happy with.

Reasonably simply, yes. They won't be sitting in bird cages waiting for you to let them out (wink), but I can say with reasonable confidence that you'll be able to find them more simply than, say, Valygar.
As to the romances from BG1, the flirtations there are more of a precursor; unfortunately the engine isn't equipped to handle importing variables, so it won't change based on whether or not you recruited and flirted with them in BG1 (so, in other words, pretty much the same as it is for Jaheira and Viconia).
