Bear in mind, this is an unconfirmed report: a source within the industry provided it on condition of anonymity, Atari has not commented, and Trent Oster is still going with "We're working on it".
Also a lot of speculation, assumptions and guesses on your part in your whole post.
Huh?? I guess you didn't read my post at all. I was saying that there IS a lot of speculation and assumptions and that I was prefering not to make any.
@Troodon80 - not really all that complex. More like nested sets (people left to right, ownership right to left)
BG*EE team >= Overhaul Games >= Beamdog >= IdeaSpark
Baw, I went to all the trouble of making a pretty graph and everything.
It's basically what I said, though, but gave the graph to show how I (personally) think it all works - in the most basic of formats: boxes and arrows .

Unconfirmed by Atari and Beamdog? Standard practice. Nothing wrong with that statement.

Yeah, I did read all of your post and as I said, "a lot of speculation, assumptions and guesses on your part in your whole post".
If you were "prefering not to make any", then you failed.
For what it's worth: I don't have access to this source, I don't know who he or she is, and I don't even know the exact statement given to us. However the supposition that the information is not reliable, accurate or even deceptive as part of some sort of conspiracy against Overhaul Games and/or Atari is patently ludicrous.
So we have an unnamed, unsourced rumour on a singular gaming website about a legal dispute which we literally know nothing about, which has been picked up by no other news sites, and neither beamdog nor Atari have made any substantial comments on the situation, and even the tile of the article states "Uncofirmed" but you say that supposing the "information" is not reliable is ludicrous?
I took what he said to mean that it's ludicrous to say this information isn't trustworthy specifically because it may be a part of some conspiracy, not that considering this information unreliable is ludicrous in general. (I really hope that sentence isn't as hard to follow as I think it is)
Considering GameBanshee's less than favorable review, I would take any "news" they have on the subject with a grain of salt so large it is Medium sized. That's right, no +1 size bonus to AC for that particular chemical compound.
Due to all current circumstances it's interesting to re-read this article from more than a year ago.
"It took over a year to make the deal happen. “It was going through business hell,” Oster said. “We had to sort out ownership rights and royalty shares and all the basics. I’m lucky that I have really good relationships with the people at Bioware, and Electronics Arts was very reasonable to deal with.”
“There was a lot of detangling,” Oster said. Everyone had to be happy with what they were getting in return for the use of the game, including Beamdog itself. “We feel pretty good [about the deal.] I think in terms of being able to work on Baldur’s Gate, it’s a good deal. If it hits anywhere near where we hope, we’ll do well. Or else we wouldn’t have gone to war for a year to make it happen.”
It seems the situation repeats itself.
Now these words and quotes become even more important. I hardly doubt that all financial and legal wrangling will go to waste and the parties won't find a solution. They will.
And we must appreciate the work that has been done and is being done by Beamdog in such a legal imbroglio.
@the_spyder I guess you are speculating that you don't know all the facts? Or something? Not sure what your posts are assuming or guessing at... The only point I read from them is "we don't have all the facts" rather than conjecture that the report is false because Atari
Here's the thing, though: we've been going on the assumption that Atari's bankruptcy caused the current situation, and that Beamdog might try to acquire the rights to BG during the upcoming auction of assets. In which case, it was reasonable to assume that an update - if not an actual resolution - would be forthcoming by the end of the month, since all transactions will receive court authorization on the 24th (see @bengoshi's comments on the other thread).
But if Beamdog was at fault here, and it's an issue of unpaid royalties, then the auction is irrelevant. And if Beamdog couldn't afford to pay Atari what they'd actually agreed on, how can we expect them to acquire the BG license?

You got it.
I would be curious as to what assumptions the other poster thought I was making, but i'm not THAT curious.
From 1776, Dr. Benjamin Franklin: "A rebellion is always legal in the first person, such as "our rebellion." It is only in the third person - "their rebellion" - that it becomes illegal."

I'm busy trying to figure out how a review written by one person at GameBanshee condemns the entire website.
Ok no idea why you want to bring about discourse on the Rebels who refused to assist England with it's debt that it incurred protecting the Americans. Stop your silly revolution dogma of a brainwashed children - any well read person knows it was a terrorist rebellion against the mercantilism system that was paying off England's debts. I was not a Knight in the USMC overseas even if I did sweat like a Pig in the stupid Gulf- I was a pawn sent to keep our oil rolling.... when is the last time the US moved to help in Burundi or Mali..... ahhhh never...
As to Egypt that rot of a kidnap and child rape moral system - Saudi followers so love to go to Yemen and buy children of 9 - ohhh I mean dowry payment for wives in Yemen.... and Egypt followers are famed for kidnapping oppps I mean romancing Christian virgins, 'converting' them, marring them, and sleeping with them, (not perhaps in that order though) (teenage/pre-teens in Egypt usually are) what idea would Lawful Evil Moon Goddess worshipers have in how to run a democratic society - greedy deist rich rebels of America would even be better equipped than them... I regret I did not poop more in shallow holes I dug in that blasted Arab Wilderness where surely many a unwillingly oil giver died by my Marine brother's hands... Don't bring up politics or realigion unless you are going to talk about the Merchants League the Iron Throne and the Righteous Rule of TIAX OVER ALL...
As to beamdawg well men are greedy - I already said that - and it seems logical Beamdawg might want to get all the profits for themselves seeing as how BG@ TOB enhanced should sell even better and they got their saliva running smacking their chops over all the bones destined to come in when it is published.... or it could be the opposite and fat cat atari lawyers are trying to graft more cash from beamdawg
With the devs still on radio silence, we have to make due with whatever information comes our way.
GameBanshee has received new information pertaining to the Enhanced Edition project. Of note:
Apparently Beamdog hasn't paid Atari the royalties that they were owed, which led the publisher to ask them to pull the title from their services, and delay both Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition's patch and the release of the sequel's remastering.
Bear in mind, this is an unconfirmed report: a source within the industry provided it on condition of anonymity, Atari has not commented, and Trent Oster is still going with "We're working on it".
If true, though, it casts recent events in a completely different light, and - in my eyes - severely damages Beamdog's credibility...
I would write it down to gossip if it was the case, I doubt that Baldur's gate EE would been on sale still on steam, I think if Atari was not paid their royalties they would probably put pressure on steam to stop its sale of BG EE.
Here's the thing, though: we've been going on the assumption that Atari's bankruptcy caused the current situation, and that Beamdog might try to acquire the rights to BG during the upcoming auction of assets. The auction could still be relevant as if Atari is dissolved their contract will be broken, possibly opening them up to do a crowdfunding campaign or something along those lines.

Well, we hope they will. Ultimately, though, we have to accept now that the certainty of even seeing a BG2EE is no longer something we we can't on, and we also have to accept that even should the game see release, it very well may suffer for this--as, in a rush to get the game out fast >to make up for lost time< it may not have sufficient new content to justify its existence. BG2 is, after all, a much more narrative-focused and character-focused game than BG1, and the Enhanced Edition characters will need a lot more new content in BG2 than they did in BG1 to be worthwhile next to the original characters.
So, basically, the "TBA Delay" isn't just bad news for BG2EE's possible release, it could also be bad news for its potential release.
@Arsene_Lupin Oddly enough, I'll be playing the part of the optimist tonight:
Conversely, the delay could cause some or all of the contracts for the IP to change, which could in turn allow them to develope at their own pace instead of someone elses' (like they had to do for Atari at the original release). This could, in turn, allow for much greater quality control and even more added content. Which would be great!
I think the general thrust of what he is saying is that the nationalism/patriotism is both misplaced and unwarranted - as well as being grossly off topic. If we want to discuss politics then we ought to be in the off topic forum, or chatting about in game/universe politics.

You've got it all wrong. The gist of what he's saying is nothing... he's just trolling, lol.

You know what I am talking about:
Cold keep walls, lit up by the occasional candle here and there, eerie silence ...
"It seems logical enough. You live, you affect your world."
"I wonder if your company is destined to be forgotten. Will your company fade in the shadow of greed?"
"Follow. You will do what you must."
etc.
Now, get on with it.

I watch 1776 every 4th of July now. THE TURKEY!

The steam distribution was done behind Beamdog's back. They have nothing to do with it.
