They'll be supported as of this next patch (v1.2). You can follow our progress in the The Road to v1.2 forum.

i dont know if this was asked already, but does anyone know if the beamdog version of bg:ee would be compatible with a steamversion of bg2:ee?

Well, the only compatibility they have is character files.

But yes, I'd say for certain that you can use BG:EE characters from whatever platform for BG2:EE on whatever platform.

    @jamesker negative plane protection

@MikeMasters Maybe it's just me, but I rarely use that spell due to it being single-target and having a really short duration. Too much micromanagement. I personally prefer the Amulet of Power.

Regardless, level drain in an of itself is punishment enough. It shouldn't remove your spell memorizations too, that's just sadistic.

@Dee great job on the forum and with the beta. I really liked the transparency of the different phases. Now to the questions:

Will the info about updating game= restarting for best results be presented in the launcher before people download?

Will the current beta patch install to a new directory and keep your previous non beta install intact? Will the open beta? Will 1.2?

    Yes, yes, and no.

    Any chance we will see:

    -The Psionic class?

    -The Ninja kit?

-A NPC companion with a non playable race, like a goblin? That'd be cool.
  • EudaemoniumEudaemonium Member Posts: 3,199
Technically we already have one of the last one in Haer'Dalis, a Tiefling. It's unlikely we'll get a goblin, though, due mainly to the whole equipping issue.

Also isn't the Ninja a class, rather than a kit?
  • RedGuardRedGuard Member Posts: 672
I'd imagine that if you gave them a set weapon that leveled up with them then you could have a Goblin or Gnoll etc as a NPC companion. You just wouldn't be able to pick their weapons or armour.

    Ninja is a thief class

Yeah, but they have an entire 2E book all to themselves with a bunch of specialist kits, and so strike me as more of a 'Rogue Class' like Thieves and Bards, but distinct.
  • MonoCanallaMonoCanalla Member Posts: 291
Tiefling is a subrace (half human after all) goblin and other folks would be races.

    Ninja being kit, class...either way.

Will Dorn, Neera and Rasaad undergo transformations with their stats like Minsc and Jahierra? Minsc's constitution and dex were 15 now in 2 they are 16. Jahierra's dexterity is now 17 while before it was 14. I hope Dorn gets 15 constitution and rasaad gets higher dexterity maybe. That would be cool if they truly are TRUE sequel characters.

    @DKnight

    It is confirmed (http://www.reddit.com/r/baldursgate/comments/1mv2oh/anyone_have_questions_about_bgiiee/)
their ability scores will stay the same.

    - "Will any of the new NPCs from BGEE have stat changes like Viconia and Edwin in BG->BG2?"

Kaeloree (LiamEsler): "This was done to fix problems with BG1 NPCs' original stats, but the new NPCs have much more functional stats, so there's no real need."

In the start of BG2 - the very beginning- you can pause the game, drop all your loot on the ground, and then after your are buffeted about by Irenicus, pick all of it up.

IS this possible in the BG2 Enhanced Game?

Also, will the hitpoints of the character remain the same- or will they be averaged to some norm when you import your BG1 final save max hitpoint guy?

I've created a soundset of Anders from Dragon Age - Awakening but there's a nefarious bug because of which custom soundsets can't be easily added to BG:EE.

Will this be fixed in the upcoming 1.2 patch? (and will it be easy to add the soundset strings so they appear as dialogue?)

Would like to see the school-kits of Mages scrapped and real kits like Dragon Disciple

For example, Necromancer mage that has its own select of spells that primary deal with draining health, cursing enemies, and raising dead to fight, maybe a poison sunfire or something

Or more variety of fighter kits

@Beowulf Don't worry, you can still use the console or EEKeeper to spawn your favorite items from BG1.

A question: Any chance some spells have been changed to make sense? (Meteor swarm doing 4-40 damage for example)

    Third time's a charm. :)
This time I'll even tag someone, like @Dee

    1. Have you gotten user feedback on how to improve the ipad controls?
    2. Will the ipad controls be enhanced/improved somehow with the new patch for BG:EE and/or in BG2:EE?
    3. Will it be in a future patch?
    4. Will there be new touchpad control options?

Actually you can already use custom soundsets in the current build. However you must name your files using CUSTOM0, CUSTOM1, ... prefixes (then the digit or letter). From my own experience, you have to put the files in the lang\en_US\sounds directory.

I confirm that the patch makes it easier in terms of location of the CUSTOMxx files for them to be available. They are accepted in Documents\sounds, \sounds, and lang\\sounds, at least.
However I don't think there was any change in terms of naming convention. Using other names than CUSTOMxx didn't work for me with the current beta patch.

    I didn't know that. Thanks!

    i have a question.

Will Keldorns sword Hallowed Redeemer cause Cowled Wizards spawn in BG2:EE?
Its passive ability was considered as arcane magic in Bg2 and became annoying sometimes.
Have you changed anything about it?

When the IOS port eventually happens, will there be any provision to allow dialog.tlk modding on the ipad version without a jailbreak (like, by slipping file overrwrites of the dialog.tlk, override files, or chitin.key into the library folder?) I wouldn't hold my breath for a working jailbreak of ios 7 any time soon.
