Because you wrote that the new patch is out middle September I checked back again. I was not surprised that the patch is not out. Just what I expected from you after 1 year after release. The joke is: I read that the BG:EE 2 is out soon. LOL. After one year the game has still more bugs as the vanilla edition had, and you leave us behind with this fail edition and start a new one. I wonder if the first game will be ever corrected. Why should we buy the 2nd one? Buying this game was my worst choice since Diablo3.

Oh ye of little faith. The patch will come soon enough, if you will be patient, and Android will come soon after, and I believe BG2EE will release as scheduled, and if there is a delay, it will be to deliver a more polished, more excellent game, so all will be well worth the wait.
Sorry, but I can't believe them anymore. What I see now is that: - they removed the movies, which were way better as the new static ones are. after a year they only removed the advertisement about "all movies were replaced". - the vanilla version had fewer bugs as the new edition has now, after 1 year - the game become much easier, monster spawns are still messed up - the new NPCs are much stronger as the originals were, Baeloth and Dorn is a shame, they have no place in BG1, too strong for the first part of the game. They placed two of the new NPCs in your way so that you can't miss them, even if you try, and you have to fight against their enemies, even if you don't want to.
I feel sorry for everyone who bought this edition, and feel bad for the new customers who will find the new edition an open beta edition with throngs of bugs, with OP NPCs, and so on as it is with the BG:EE until now.
Even with all those issues (and I can't even remember all that many bugs), Baldur's Gate is one of the best games to have come out on the last millennium, and Enhanced Edition does in fact make it better on a lot of things.
You bring up a small amount of relatively minor matters, then claim the game is horrible and on the level of something like Diablo 3, and feel sorry to the rest of us even though we are having just the jolly good time with the game. That makes you sound like an entitled child who feels like he is owed perfection.
I just know , I can play Baldur's gate in my Android phone / iPad now and this game will be better and better after more and more patch polish it , even it may can't meet all of fans requirement , but if there is no this project , how can we see Zoom in / out function and other new features , and it looks upcoming patch will give us quite cool UI , I think those things are worth me to pay some money to support this project

i think this guy is tripin balls. if you dont like the npc's dont use em. the unavoidable occurrence with the 2 npcs... arent hard or anything... just get through it and enjoy the 99.999% of the game. and the overall game might be easier, but with new classes, kits and npcs. that just means more play-throughs for me. plus you can always turn up the difficulty. kiddo.
After one year the game has still more bugs as the vanilla edition had, and you leave us behind with this fail edition and start a new one. I wonder if the first game will be ever corrected.
1. Do you have some specifics to back that up? Or did you forget how buggy BG was? 2. BG1 and BG2 run on the same engine. The only difference between BG1EE and BG2EE is the plot. So, all the events, dialogue, characters, maps, items, etc. Everything else is the same and it is this part with the majority of the remaining bugs. So, when they fix the problem in this part, it's fixed for BOTH games. Please read a book on software development before you make assumptions about the development team priorities.
Seriously, why can't people understand this? It's not that difficult to guess, and it's been said on this forum at least 20 times.
Buying this game was my worst choice since Diablo3.
Really? I haven't had my account comprimised yet by a huge security exploit and then get told repeatedly by the Devs that it was because I gave out my password/information to some Nigerian Prince/Viagra advertisement from my junkmail folder.
Yep, as someone who works with the development of software and even games in the past, my internet common sense is clearly on par with a new internet user.
Seriously, if you're comparing this to Diablo 3, you have some serious issues lol
Blizzard STILL has yet to own up to their mistake (millions of accounts compromised by this glitch) and continues to accuse their player base of being stupid enough to let it happen.

Some of these criticisms are legitimate, and I even share some of them, so it would be a pity IMO if they were to be overlooked or discounted just because of the belligerent tone.
1) I also don't like the new movies and I find the original ones much better despite the lower resolution. Too bad also that some of the movies were not even replaced, but simply removed from the game. I'm not sure if it is even feasible, but it would be great if there was a menu option allowing to choose which set of movies to play.
2) while I don't remember if vanilla had originally more or less bugs than BG:EE, the latter for sure has still an huge amount of them. The devs themselves are saying that the next patch should fix hundreds of them. So let's wait and see.
3) I agree that the spawning system still doesn't work as it should (e.g. spawns disappearing on reload). Again the patch should take care of that, so let's wait and see.
4) I also find some of the new NPCs and items to be overpowered in such extent that they make the whole game too much easier, but luckily that can be solved by either ignoring them or (my preferred choice) nerfing them with modding tools. Still, as plea to the developers I would like to invite them to be more careful, when introducing new content, to preserve the balance of the game.
The funniest thing is that, honestly, a lot of game developpers would LOVE to sell (Or even simply produce) games as good as Diablo 3, even if it's considered pretty bad for "Blizzard's standards".
The funniest thing is that, honestly, a lot of game developpers would LOVE to sell (Or even simply produce) games as good as Diablo 3, even if it's considered pretty bad for "Blizzard's standards".
I would say it is rather that most game developers would love to produce a game that could garner as much popularity, and as much hype as Diablo 3.
The quality of Diablo 3 was irrelevant to its sales. It sold off the cult status created by Diablo, and Diablo 2. There was a loyal community, with a wider arc of casual gamers who had long since parted ways with the series, who were always going to get on board for a third installment if it ever materialized. That manifested as pre-orders and first week sales, the greater majority of which came from those who had not experienced a beta, or a demo.
I pre-ordered without a moments hesitation, nor a second thought. It was Diablo 3 and that was all that mattered. It was disappointing to find out that Diablo 3 was not being created by the same team who had developed Diablo 2, but that in no way shape or form was going to change my need to experience the next installment. The same cannot be said for what may follow Diablo 3.
I am glad to see this happen, especially after the scare we had a few months ago. I hope we get a few more new NPCs, besides the ones we already have. Or maybe some extra quests/items/weapons. It might be nice to build your own stronghold, as well.:)
I second wanting some new areas with quests and especially a new stronghold with the depth of the d'arnise keep. Building it up was and still is biggest highlight of the game aside from the main story
Just took the Pre-order plunge. Getting to beta the new BGEE patch got me pretty excited about BG2EE. Its looking really good and they deserve my support. I'm glad the Atari problems were figured out.
After some major disappointments with preordering videogames from other companies (EA & Blizzard I'm looking at you) I had promised myself never to preorder video games ever again.... Damn you Beamdog for making me break my promise!
All of you are basing opinions off not looking at the big picture.
1. BG:EE had it's engine and mechanics taken from BG2. They took the setting of BG1 and threw all the formulas of BG2 onto it (ex. the kits, classes, difference in spells, etc.). That understandably made a LOT of bugs at first.
2. The current patch is easily playthrough-able without running into any bug that will completely screw up your game. I've now run through BG:EE start-to-finish 4 times without encountering 1 bug, the other 3 times i ran into some to the point of having to reinstall the game but that was before the most recent patch.
3. BG2:EE coming out before multiplayer for BG:EE was a big mistake on beamdog/overhaul's part. Most people that just learned about the baldur's gate trilogy in the past couple of years will now lose interest in the game as a whole. Because the most logical solution is "If they still haven't made multiplayer workable, then whose to say any of BG2:EE will work?" The thing is, that as veteran D&D and baldur's gate players realize, is the amount of change they put into BG:EE is so much more extreme as far as programming goes that they realized there was no way to make everything work within a short, 2 years of working on it from almost any company.
4. I don't know, maybe ea games, blizzard, or activision would have been able to do it sooner because they're multi-billion dollar companies. But the fact remains that those companies would have done their own "version" of the game and changed way more but done it quicker. It would not have had the baldur's gate feel that i grew up with anymore.
Overall, as an veteran player to old-school computer games (mainly baldur's gate, mech warrior 1-4, fallout 1-2, placescape: torment, heroes of might & magic, warlords, diablo, warcraft, starcraft) I would say I'm not overjoyed at the status of the game now, but I'm not exactly even irritated by it either. Beamdog/Overhaul has me psyched that their keeping to the original feel of the game and taking the time necessary to make it right. Considering their funding and drive to keep the game right, the status of the game is right where it should be.
The only problem, is they keep getting my hopes up about the patch coming out sooner then it honestly should (like saying mid-september, and it's now early-october) but that's because of all the people whining on here that they want to play the fully-bugfree version right NOW. So enough yelling and screaming gets the operations manager up in the company to talk to each department and be like "YOU! WHEN WILL YOU BE DONE?!" "Uhhh, we think around this time." "OK, YOU! WHEN WILL YOU BE DONE?!" and go on to every department until he puts together an estimated time in his head to tell people to keep them around. This, is the reason companies need to start saying things like "Should be done in december." And next thing you know, you get onto the game in late-october and it throws the patch at you. Could hear the roaring fans now "YOUR THE ONLY COMPANY TO COME OUT WITH A PATCH/GAME AHEAD OF TIME. YOU ARE THE GAMING GODS!!! ALL BOW DOWN!"
I think I might be one of the few who firstly does not have a steam account, but even if I did, I would not buy BGEE or BG2EE from them, I support beamdog, and the fact of the matter is that they get more when I purchase through them, plus I get my updates sooner, I'll be able to pre-download the game before release, and when cloud saving is released, my understanding is that it will not be available for steam users... fact is that those who buy on steam aren't only hurting the developers by not buying directly from them, but they are also missing out on cool stuff.
I was honestly one of those mistaken enough to buy it from steam.. because it was easier being that I already had a steam account.. I regret giving them my money..
But for a little FYI steam is doing outrageous sales on the game, probably because of steam users getting less accessibility then beamdog users. I've seen on steam news it on sale for 50% off for about a week out of every month for the past almost-year, the most recent sale just ended (yes I did wait to say something until now so you wouldn't fall for their trickery) that was a 75% off ($5.00).
Just goes to show, you pay the price for doing things the easier and cheaper way instead of the harder more expensive way.

I'm guessing beamdog still isn't in charge of the steam sales and get less/no money from them?
