@Magnus_Grelich It's not a crusade so much as me being slightly amused and annoyed by the preponderance of what is, basically "Erotic Fantasy Art" (Don't do a search for that on DeviantArt- there is not enough brain bleach in the world... really.). And then there is the naked, pregnant sorceresses. I tell you, man... I've seen some things! Bu hey, it's okay, we all speak out when we're annoyed and not thinking clearly sometimes- it happens.
to me i thought this was just a thread to poke fun at impossible armors, personally i look at these pictures and imagine the women and what few men there are posted here and think how people would react to them in public, most of the time its laughter XD im not saying the art is bad as a skill standpoint, i cant draw so ill never have a say in whats "good" or "bad" its all better than what i can draw / photoshop im just having a bit of fun at the image NOT the artist.....

Well, if she's fully confident in her magic abilities to walk into the battlefield while she's seriously pregnant and expect no danger to her baby... More power to her? I guess?
I certainly wouldn't do it, and definitely not naked, but there're women who've run marathons while they're 7-9 months pregnant. Throwing lightning balls at charging enemies sounds like a cakewalk in comparison.
Course, I haven't seen any pictures like these (nor do I really wish to...), so I obviously don't have the full context. That's just my first impression/random thoughts that went through my head.
Here's a whole bunch of pictures that just make me sigh sadly.

Aside from the lack of protection, everything about this piece is great. If she had been given a version of that armor that ACTUALLY protected her, but otherwise kept the same design, this would be a masterpiece of pop fantasy art.
@Schneidend That's what kills me about all this art- If you fixed the armor problems, it would be Great. Sadly, though, the artists decided to make it "Playboy armor", and that just makes me feel sad and annoyed.
I probably should have let this thread die off, particularly as this link doesn't really even belong here, but reading it, I thought of this thread. Plus the comments are pretty funny.
ugh. Female Fantasy Outfits are the worst. They looks ridiculous and unflattering and cement the conception that one of the main characteristics of that female character is to be sexy (though at least for me it usually fails to actually achieve `sexy'), at the cost of completely undermining any further attempt to make them into a believable character.
A female character that wants to look sexy wouldn't choose wear this stuff (let alone someone who wants to be armored!). Artists that try to appeal to a certain audience choose to make them wear it. And when an aspect of a character so clearly points back to the designer, instead of fitting in naturally with the actual character/setting, that's bad character design (not necessarily bad artwork!).
These are pretty much soft porn/bedroom roleplaying/fantasy-as-in-not-the-genre outfits. And I *really* don't mind when that's the context in which a piece of art is made and/or viewed (which is probably the case for many of these, actually), but if it's actually meant/taken to show a serious character (which is the case in for example many video game promotional materials), I just get sad.
Any brave warrior who can wear such beautiful and stunning armor, is certainly of such high level, they simply don't get hit where they wear tight cloth.
I love the artists renditions of adventurers. Please post more showing off those fantastic curves that can't be touched by just any magical blade!
My blade has been dyed red with the blood of many a fool who thought trench coats or nudity would provide adequate protection. A slim waist and broad hips are a lot less pretty when you violently separate one from the other.
Unrealistic fantasy art = ALL female fantasy art = Art for Kensai character.
No real armor, big sword.
At first I thought this was genius, but then I realized it doesn't work. I'd expect somebody with a Zen-like mastery of weaponry to dress practically, especially for travel, and not like a magical hooker.

Kensai character, who just so happens to be a fanatic follower of Sune? I doubt they use practical clothing.

Considering bruises, sores, cuts, scrapes, frostbite, or any of the other rigors of adventuring that clothing can prevent aren't exactly beautiful or love-inspiring, I'd bet some gp you're wrong.

That's where he faith in Sune comes in. You just trust the goddes to protect your beauty

just to clear that up

Miss Malaysia looks like a supervillain indeed!

Draw your own porn.. and if you ask why, I bet they would simply reply, BECAUSE I CAN!
Doesn't everyone know this?

The avengers showing off booty, really making the point clear haha
No, but it sure does make them -look- cheap. *dusts cigar while waggling eyebrows*
