If there will be a DLC including a possible new Enhanced Edition NPC, should it be a male or a female? What do you think should the new NPC be romancable or not? Please vote and comment.

OK, so far I have a grumpy female lawful nuetral bard dwarf that has no romance. She is going to be awesome! She could be a bard kit.

I think Beamdog acquitted themselves very nicely with the BG2:EE romances - at this point there's a fair balance for evil male PCs (Dorn, Viconia), evil female PCs (Dorn, Hexxat), good female PCs (Anomen, Rasaad) and good male PCs (Aerie, Jaheira, Viconia).

Which means there's room for new characters who don't necessarily require romancing.

I'll echo the "Chaotic Neutral female dwarf barbarian" request. :)

I say not romanceable, since there's enough of that already in the game. Let's not overdo it.

All in all, I've voted for a true neutral male human thief, as far as the polls go. In truth, I would prefer a true neutral female human thief, but if i was only given the choice of gender dictation, I would prefer it to be a male. Generally speaking, I just don't think we need any more good-aligned NPCs, and we now can thank Overhaul for having sufficient evil-aligned NPCs.

Female Chaotic Neutral Human Jester - goofy, unpredictable, & not interested in dating a Bhaalspawn.

Male True Neutral Ghostwise Halfling Barbarian! Was exiled from Chondalwood for breaking a sacred relic of his clan in a fight and must atone for it. Is terse, gruff, and slow to make friends, but is a staunch ally to those who earn his trust.

Has a friendship path. Has several interactions with Mazzy who will try to "civilize" him. Good friends with Minsc, Korgan, Cernd, and Wilson. Bristly with Anomen, Jaheira, and Nalia and to a far lesser extent with Keldorn but can become friends with him. Enters a Greater Rage state (+6 STR and CON on top of Barbarian Rage immunities, +1 attack per round, +4 AC penalty) whenever one of his friends dies until the battle ends. Is fatigued after a Greater Rage and suffers -3 to all ability scores and -20% movement speed.

Not everyone needs a romance. They just need to be interesting characters.

I think "no romance" implies "self romance" for charname :)

Where's the "don't care as long as the character is good" option
  • EmmiEmmi Member Posts: 77
Either Clara or another female NPC with romance for females with good or neutral alignment, wouldn't mind her to go for men either, but as it stands, there is only Anomen (ugh) or Rasaad for female characters who are not totally evil.

So the winners so far are:

    Class/kit: Barbarian (28%, 52 votes out of 181)
Race: Dwarf (25%, 33 votes out of 129)
Alignment: Neutral (54%, 60 votes out of 108)
Gender: Female (65%, 41 votes out of 63)

I approve of these results. :)

Don't care, but I don't want another romance. It's immersion breaking if half the party hits on charname at some point. I know, I can turn them down, doesn't change that it's not realistic that many people show interest, yet no-one wants to be friends. So my vote is - don't care, no romance, FRIENDSHIP PATH.
  • shawneshawne Member Posts: 3,239
@KidCarnival: To be fair, there are eight potential love interests in the game to fourteen potential "friends", and even then, those love interests are mutually exclusive (which means all the other love interests default to friendship anyway).

Except that the friendships don't develop like the romances. It's just the banters you always get, not just if you specifically try to befriend someone. Fleshed out friendship paths, that's what I mean.

Is there a practical difference, though? I mean, let's say my character covers for Edwin when that other Red Wizard comes looking for him, or frees Nalia's home from the invaders (thereby securing their respective places in the party) - wouldn't you say those loyal characters are now the PC's friends?

No, this means that I want the new hermaphrodite NPC to romance itself, and give birth to a litter of hermaphrodite babies. Which could also mean self romance for charname, sure.
