Abdel doesn't for me, but his lines show up in the dialogue box. I've tried adjusting character sounds volume, toggling them on and off, and with earbuds plugged in. NPCs talk when I engage conversation with them, so no problem there.
Same problem here as Souldancertn. Just played through build #19 on my Nexus 10, I found a couple of small problems which I reported, but apart from those there is the fact that Abdel wouldn't say anything aloud. I could read him, but no sounds. He was not muted in the options.

I noticed the same thing, I just thought Abdel's sound was disabled...
It depends on which sounds you mean; Abdel's sounds should all be playing, as well as anyone in Candlekeep. The other sound sets may not be working.
Sounds definitely aren't working for me (Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1") just like @Souldancertn the text shows up in the dialogue box, but nothing is audible.... I also hear NPC sounds, but I guess Abdel is a mute...
Latest build on my Nexus 7 (2012) and Samsung Galaxy S3 is the best yet. The magnifying glass and combat works well. The only things that I'm noticing is that I find it difficult to scroll on the item descriptions, and my devices continue to go to sleep if left inactive for too long. Also, after they go to sleep, it usually crashes the app and I have to close it and restart the app.
Latest build works pretty good for me - created custom character for first time! I cannot maintain immersive mode and am still getting a fairly long "freeze" when I first walk near the gate out of the town (3-7 seconds). Sent an email to the devs. Combat, magnifying glass, and dialogue are working good for me.
EDIT: If you zoom in, the room get's bigger and move gradually to the center of the screen and the black border move to the right until dissappear.
If you zoom out, the black border returns.
Same thing on the Nexus 7 2013.
@Troodon80 I experienced this on one play through with the most recent, #19, build, but it only happened on once on my Nexus 7 (2012). I've done 3 or 4 runs since and I haven't had that problem.
Besides what has already been said there is just a couple of things. First if moving when holding down the show hidden items button, the characters names is static and doesn't move with character. Also show hidden button I assume is the same as the Magnifying Glass UI button requiers me to hold it down on my note 10.1 (2014) version, to use it. Is also still doesn't reveal hidden doors like the one to the medical center.
We're doing some additional work based on the excellent feedback we've received. It turns out the character sound sets weren't included in the testing build, which is why you haven't heard them yet.
Probably no updates today, but we're still working hard. Stay tuned--and while you wait, consider the following interesting tidbit (posted last week on our Facebook page):
Specialist mages get more than just a bonus spell per level. They also get a +2 bonus to all saving throws against spells of their chosen school and a +15% bonus chance to learn spells of their chosen school. It's not all sugar and sunshine, though: a specialist mage also suffers a -15% penalty to their chance to learn spells from any other school.

Huh, and here I was always under the impression this wasn't the case. Sounds like something that should be added to the description for specialist mages. So does that mean that wild mages have a 15% fewer chance of learning any spell?

@Dee Is this something that is in the game its just not in the description or is it something that is going to be added? I ask because enemies are also supposed to get a penalty to saving throws vs specialist mage spells of -1 or 2. It would be great if this was put back in the game!

In testflight I can see only update #5 from 20.01.2014.
Is it normal?

That's correct.
@DannyBarkley
Too early to say anything concrete, but every new build has new files included; the build is being expanded every time we update it.
@Mythrialus
It's actually been in the game and working since 1998, just never documented. The penalty to saving throws was never implemented, though.
