What animations did Icewind Dale 2 use? It had dual-wielding and half-orcs and everything.
IWD2 uses BG2 animations. In fact, even the first IWD started using BG2 animations with TotLM for absolutely no reason, since there is no dual-wielding in TotLM and no reason besides dual-wielding to use BG2 animations in the first place.
Speaking of which, I was wondering: who owns the rights to the IWD stuff now? BioWare may have lost the source art assets for Baldur's Gate, but the source art assets for IWD could still be there and they were using the same character models as BG1.
I know @Cuv explained to me that IWD animations are actually more advanced than BG1 animations, but I'm not sure the same applies to character models. Even if it did, they look the same and the monsters from BG1 also looked the same in IWD. So, if the source art assets for IWD were still available... you know...
@TrentOster Very nice Let us assume you get the "happy agreement" and you decide to go that direction. Would fixing dual wielding be something you would work on?
I believe Trent meant they'd be implementing these and possibly this, which are already an improvement over the existing BG2 animations though not as good as BG1 animations. There may be more, but I doubt it would relate to BG1 animations anyway.
They wouldn't really need @erephine to fix dual-wielding in BG1 animations, but it would take a lot of work to also create the missing animation work (unless they were trying to get @erephine on their payroll to do it, which is doubtful).
@TrentOster have you considered upscaling the BG1 character models as well, just as an option for use for those who prefer them? I know they don't support dual wielding but they look soo much cooler
Maybe to be an option for those who don't want to dual wield :]
They could be included in the database and then we could "shadowkeeper" them or something :P
Would be really nice if you were able to do it ^_^
