Thanks! One more question, though: how are Bards affected when you install both TnB & SoB? Will they get both CHA & INT Bonus spells? Or only CHA, since you said SoB defers to TnB?

I don't know anything about CHA-based bonus spells... all I know is, of SoB finds the TnB bonus spells component, SoB does not install any bonus spells.

Alright, I'll chalk it up to misreading or an old readme. Thanks for the clarification!

Thanks for reply @Aquadrizzt BTW, don't you think Magus should get a higher Thac0? Perhaps with additional penalty to spell number or casting speed. IMO he is a bit useless in melee combat, and it misses the point of having armor.

Seconded. Perhaps even one less spell known? If that is possible. That's a severe penalty.

    @Aquadrizzt
    A few questions:

TnB does not recognize the Pale Master for any of the Tweaks, how is it possible to do so?

SR v14 and TnB do not seem totally compatible with regard to TnB spell tweaks (it does not add the new classified spells as necromancy (blindness for ex.) to the list of necro spells auto learned by a necro(just to test it)

Lastly, TnB seems to leave residual traces after being uninstalled (innate cantrips listed on class descrip- but not usable). Is that able to be resolved?

    Thanks

  • GawainBSGawainBS Member Posts: 523

@Aquadrizzt, thanks i will look into it, actually i wanted to ask something else i know this may not be the right place to ask but frankly i don't know anywhere else to ask it, but do you know about any mod that upgrades katanas to a +5 enchanment level?, i know there is the item upgrade mod that changes celestial fury into a +5 weapon, but for some reason when i try to install it the installer always ends up crashing, i also know there was a mod to upgrade dakkon zerth's blade but i don't know if it was ever finished and the screenshots only show a +3 version, if not a mod could you at least point me to a tool that lets me edit some items to get a +5 katana that way?. Sorry for the wall of text.

@Zaghoul, it looks like it freaks out because sometimes the bard's spell table is missing high level entries. I'll post a fix when I have a moment, should be pretty easy to fix...
  • AquadrizztAquadrizzt Member Posts: 1,069
@marcialhd, there are no mods that do that to my knowledge, but check out Near Infinity. It's a relatively straightforward file editor. Enter NI, find the katanas you're looking for, then change their enchantment level field to 5.

Hmm, before I had CD Tweaks using PnP option for bard spell tables. When I uninstalled that option and just went with the standard RR bard HL spells it worked fine.
Just wanted to make sure the fix would not disturb that and still allow ability score bonuses for a bard using higher than normal spells.
Thinking about it though I don't think a bard could ever reach a permanent 24 lvl CHR in order to receive that bonus 7th lvl spell anyway.

Not sure if that makes a difference for the fix or not.

Huh. I did that on the reinstall of mods, so maybe that played a part.

I downloaded Near infinity but its not working and it doesn't have a readme file or instructions anywhere to check what's wrong, also i'm using the steam version of the game, so i don't know if that could also be a factor?. Again thanks for the help. :)

@marcialhd, check out Might and Guile for the Bladesinger and kjeron's Warlock mod for one version of a warlock.

I checked the "Might and Guile" mod but its not what i was searching for, for some reason most of the bladesinger mods i have found limit the class to only elves when in PnP is available to both elves AND half-elves, also the mod may conflict with other mods that i have already installed, again thanks for the help.

Might & Guile is EXTREMELY modular, so you can install only the Multiclass kits. Also, I've discovered that if you install Tweaks component to remove the racial restrictions on kits, pretty much everyone can become any kit.

BTW, subtledoctor, P&P does indeed offer the Bladesinger to both Elf & Half-Elf.

Hehheh, that's how I play my HE's, not accepted fully by either society, a loner and an outcast in a way, walking both amidst and on the fringes of society at the same time. They can possibly develop into some really disturbed and dangerous characters. Yeah, nowadays it's all horns n tails, haha.

@subtledoctor, while i understand your point of view i have to say i disagree with it, from what i know "The Complete Book of Elves" is just a supplement (keyword here) to help people roleplay an elven character but the book itself and the rules in it are completely optional, also you have to take into consideration that depending the setting things can be different, while in settings like Dragonlance or Greyhawk Half-elves may be treated with disdain by their parent races, that doesn't seem to be the case in the Forgotten Realms or at the very least not that common.

Here are some quotes from the wiki which in turn are taken from player handbooks and sourcebooks: "Though many half-elves are beloved by members of other races, not all half-elves are born to a loving human-elf couple. This troubling past can affect half-elves in many ways, sometimes causing them to become bitter or feel burdened by the past. This leads them into conflict with members of other races (who often expect half-elves to be friendly and joyful), in turn putting undue pressure on troubled members of the race", and "Admired and respected by others of all races, half-elves naturally inspire loyalty and return the fealty with deep friendship and a sense of responsibility".

The fact that this quotes acknowledge that in the Forgotten Realms the half-elves are "beloved by members of other races" and "Admired and respected" or that other races "often expect half-elves to be friendly and joyful" says a lot about how they are look upon as a race, to the point it doesn't looks like they receive the typical discrimination mentioned on "The Complete Book of Elves" or that at the very least the people of the Realms appear to be more tolerant than those of other settings, and yes i know this doesn't applies to everybody and that are groups on the realms that despise half-elves -or other races in general- but for the most part the situation seems to contradict what is established on the aforementioned book.

You just have to take a look to the baldur's gate games every time you play as a half-elf, NOBODY bats an eye, and you could say that this is a case of "Gameplay and Story Segregation" but considering that there has been many novels, games and comics made about the Forgotten Realms -many of which had half-elven characters in them- were that discrimination is not even mentioned, shows that the half-elves of the Realms are at the very least accepted by most of the population.

    Here is the link: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Half-elf

Heck now that i realize it ther is even a Bladesinger novel where one of the protagonists is HALF-ELVEN Bladesinger. http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Bladesinger_(novel)

My Bard has no innate Find Familiar, but Imoen does. Is this intentional?
  • AquadrizztAquadrizzt Member Posts: 1,069
    From the readme:

This component converts Find Familiar from a spell to an innate ability. Familiars can now be summoned by all Mages and Sorcerers via the Special Abilities menu. All Scrolls of Find Familiar have been replaced with Scrolls of Magic Missile.
If installed, this component will render it impossible for Bards to obtain familiars.

Dang. Time to uninstall that part. Sorry for reading over it.

I was messing around with this mod (downloaded via BWS) and noticed two issues with the Specialist Wizard mod:

    - Illusionist wizards don't seem to break invisibility when taking an action

    - It still seems that Abjurers don't auto-cast Spell Shield when casting something like Spell Turning
