    O.O

    Is this the same Algeria?

Yeah, but they are just playing the worst team in the tournament

They still only let in 1 goal against Russia.

    Predictions for tonight:

    GROUP B:

Netherlands - Chile: 1-2 (2). Both teams are in the second round but the loser of this match will probably be facing Brazil in the next round, while the winner will meet Croatia or Mexico. Nobody wants a Winner-takes-all match against Brazil; the Netherlands only need a draw to win the group but I expect Chile to outscore them.

Australia - Spain: 2-1 (1). These teams have nothing to play for but honor, but that is also important, especially to the Spaniards! Spain also has the best players, but the "Socceroos" are less disappointed with the early exit - they weren't among the favorites two weeks ago. So, a narrow victory for Australia.

    GROUP A:

Cameroon - Brazil: 0-2 (2). Theoretically, if Brazil loses the match and Mexico doesn't win, Brazil can still end in third place in the group. But I don't see that happening. Cameroon is out of the tournament already and Brazil is a better team. Brazil will be going for the win in order to get the "easier" opponent from Group B.

Croatia - Mexico: 1-1 (x). If Mexico wins, they can still take first place in the group while Croatia has to win to proceed in the tournament. A draw is enough for the Mexicans and I think they'll get just that.

I've updated the OP. Right now the table looks this way:

    1. Pibaro - 21 point
    2. Montersor_SP - 17 points with 4 predicted scores
    3. bengoshi - 17 points with 1 predicted score
    4. Qbert - 9 points
    5. booinyoureyes - 7 points

I think this WC is the finest I've seen since France, 1998. So MANY unexpected results. SO MUCH QUALITY.

It's especially interesting in ght G group. I still believe in Cristiano and now hope Germany won't play at 50% of their power against USA. 3 goals against the Germans for USA and 3 for Portugal against Gana will make it. I'm greatly sorry for USA fans;)

Also, after failing to see the passion into Italian footballers I'm for Uruguay. Suarez seems to be a real spiritual leader of this side. Again, sorry for Italy fans.

This tournament shows those who doesn't have passion don't get anything. Spain, Camerun, England, Russia and now Italy.

Well, I think I won't be able to enter this thread till I watch all the matches of the last day in each group. Spoilers are flying high here.

Australia - Spain 1-3 Although I don't like Spain at all at this tournament, the last match will show there's some light after the darkness.

Netherlands - Chile 2-2 Van Gaal is a winner. He won't let his side slip against the pretty Chile. The quality of both sides will lead to the draw.

Cameroon - Brazil 0-3 No passion from the poor Africans.
Croatia - Mexico 2-1 The attack will defeat the defence. Believe.

Italy - Uruguay 1-2 Suarez is so HUGE
Costa Rica - England 1-1 I like how Costa Rica plays. A red card for Rooney, maybe?

    Japan - Colombia 2-0 BELIEVE
Greece - Côte d'Ivoire 1-0 Help us, please!

Nigeria - Argentina 1-2 ...and Messi has won it (again)
    Bosnia-Herzegovina - Iran 1-0

Honduras - Switzerland Interesting here. 1-4
Ecuador - France 1-3. France is looking good.

USA - Germany 0-3 Their coach was enraged during the last match. He won't let it again.
    Portugal - Ghana 3-1

Korea Republic - Belgium 1-1 A last effort from the poor Asians.
Algeria - Russia 2-2 Algeria has looked solid in both matches. A big surprise.

    predictions:

    Australia - Spain 0 - 2 ( 2 )

    Netherlands - Chile 1 - 2 ( 2 )

    Cameroun - Brasil 0 - 3 ( 2 )

    Croatia - Mexico 1 - 1 ( X )

Spain 3-0 Australia. They need some whipping boys plus Koke will probably play which spells doom for Australia
Dutch win 2-0 Chile. Eh, why not?
Brazil 3-0 Cameroon. This Cameroon team is really a disgrace not only to the competition but to their country with their antics about getting paid and their infighting among themselves. Who punches their own teammate during a game? Brazil will finally entertain
Croatia 1-1 Mexico. Really want Croatia to win, but a draw is the most likely outcome.

Before the game i would have been very pleased with a tie. The way it happened left me very disappointed. Cameron was responsible for both goals that game, i hate to see any player have a bad game, and central def. is usually not the position you want change in, however that performance to me merits a discussion about sitting him the rest of the tournament. The first one was a bad touch, ok can happen to anyone, but the second was a mental error at the most critical time. inexcusable. also have to question if Johnson was communicating effectively. Still our chances are good to get out of the group, which i said before the start would be akin to us winning the world cup, so i am still pleased overall. Jermain jones or clint dempsey is man of the tournament so far for me.

    Spain 1-1 Australia
    2-1 netherlands
    1-1 Brazil/Cameroon
    2-0 croatia

For tomorrow (I still think predicting scores is a worthless endeavor!)

Italy 1 Uruguay 1 (Can't see Italy repeating that performance or Balotelli missing those chances)
England 2 Costa Rica 0 (they gotta have *some* pride, right?)
Ivory Coast 2 Greece 1 (as you can see I'm bullish on the USA but bearish on Greece)
Colombia 2 Japan 0 (Sorry Ben, but Colombia is basically at home and flying high. Even their subs will hopefully do their jobs to help Greece out, though I think it is a lost cause tbh)

@Qbert‌ I agree that Cameron screwed the pooch. People are blaming Bradley for some reason, yet in the first half he was the best player by far. He gave some excellent through balls to Dempsey. Dempsey, Jones and both fullbacks were great (Fabian Johnson has been wonderful overall for us, and Beasley seems to defy father time with reinventing himself) If only we had Altidore.
I'm still disgusted with Subotic and Rossi for spurning us. Notice how neither player is in this World Cup? I call that karma!

    edit 1: update

    hmmm.... watching this Spain game
    Evidence:
So far Koke has set David Villa loose three times
Juanfran just destroyed Australia and assisted a David Villa backheel goal
    Conclusion:
All Spain needed to do to win the tourney was play Atletico players

    edit 2: update

HEY! I got both scores right for today's early matches!

@Aristillius‌ if only it hah more orange...

Oranje! Deep run again maybe? Time will tell... nice to avoid Brazil though.

So, it would appear I got one result right yesterday (win for Brazil), but I missed the score... Let's see if I can do better today:

    Group D:

Italy - Uruguay: 1-2 (2). (Italy only needs a draw but Uruguay needs a victory and gets it.)

Costa Rica - England: 1-2 (2). (Costa Rica has already advanced to 2nd round, England pulls itself together and wins a useless victory.)

    Group C:

Japan - Colombia: 2-2 (x). (Colombia has advanced already and Japan has a theoretical chance with a victory.)

Greece - Côte d'Ivoire: 0-2 (2). (Greece also has a theoretical chance with a victory but Côte d'Ivoire needs at least one point to be sure. So they go for the win.)

Ok, it's getting harder every day.

    Predictions:

    Costa Rica - England 1 - 1 ( X )

    Italy - Uruguay 1 - 1 ( X )

    Greece - Cote d'ivoire 0 - 1 ( 2 )

    Japan - Columbia 1 - 2 ( 2 )

@element that is a pretty funny goof. BO makes a run down the wing, suddenly a drone strike eliminates the defender!

    England 2-1

for pride. rooney gets another goal.

    Uruguay 2-1

Italy plays a careful game but Suarez proves too much

    1-0 Ivory Coast

    Greece: meh. sorry boo.

    2-1 Columbia

    Columbia cleans up the group.

    A surprisingly apt prediction.

    Poor Italy. I expect riots.

    Ciao ciao italia.
    :(
Sadly we have only two really good players, Pirlo and Buffon, and they are old.
I can't imagine how awful our team will be whithout them.
  • booinyoureyesbooinyoureyes Member Posts: 6,164
Suarez was all like mmmm Chiellini Alfredo sounds gooood

    @booinyoureyes‌ Balotelli is a bluff.
De Rossi is a good one, but he isn't a leader, he needs a good team.
