@meagloth‌ , "mal-" and "cant-" are Latin roots. While "mal-" can mean "bad" or "badly", it can also mean "evil". When you pair the root with a verb that means to say or to sing ("cant-" means "sing" or "chant"), such as "malediction", it refers to curses and cursing.

So, a better translation of "Malcanter" for a mage would be "one who incants curses", or "one who incants bad things (onto enemies)".

I'm guessing whoever created the surname was thinking along those lines. Unless, since they were going for comedy, they really did mean "one who casts spells badly".

Hmm, according to Google translate, "alveus" is Latin for "reservoir, tub, hollow vessel, cavity, hold", but could also refer to a gambling or gaming table.

So "Alveus Malcanter" could mean several things, all appropriate to the character. "Vessel of Bad Spells", "Reservoir of Curses", "Holder of Evil Spells", or even "Gaming Table of Spells".

It's the perfect name for a mage character created as an advertising icon, imo.

I'm loving the spots they've released so far. I hope maybe they'll spread like wildfire over the internet among gamers, or "go viral". I think the creators of these ads ought to be up for some kind of advertising award. Do they have one for game designers?
