@Shandyr, you should ask @Southpaw, he might be willing to share some confidential info with his friends here. @bengoshi, I've often wondered how do you do it? You're a married, big shot property-buying, business starting lawyer and you manage to be literally everywhere on these forums! Ah, and there's also still Yahiko... Do you ever sleep? Anyway, I can only wish for the love that you spread on these forums to be returned to you, it's great to have you here! @everyone, happy holidays!
@bengoshi You are so dear. It has been a privilege getting to know you a bit on this forum. Your positive, encouraging nature never fails to bring a smile to my heart.
In fact nearly all of the people I have had the opportunity to interact with here have been wonderful. This is a very special forum filled with very special people. I am thankful for you all!
as Christmas comes closer I can't help but think of how Santa Claus knows what everyone would like to get as Christmas presents. The notion of him receiving millions of letters of wishlists just seems too absurd to me.
How would he have time to read all the letters? Has anyone ever been able to actually send a letter to "Northpole" ?
Wow @bengoshi we know who is in the pocket of Illithid's for derailing a thread so masterfully and quickly.
BTW, you can send a letter to Santa and he'll respond.
Send it to:
Santa Claus North Pole, H0H 0H0 Canada
Today is the deadline to get a response back though so maybe keep it mind for next year.
@bengoshi Impressive, and merry Christmas to you too. I hope you get everything you wish...except domination over the world. That's what Santa is bringing me.
Even I fail to find the words that can express the love and appreciation I feel for everyone (and @bengoshi for taking the time to write such an impressive post!) on this forum. ^_^
@Shandyr there is some merit in your theory. Of course, we'll never know for sure unless someone takes the risk of infiltrating the ranks of our foe. Thusly, I gift you with this item, to be used by yourself or someone you consider trustworthy (or consider foolish enough to use it).
(from Temple of Elemental Evil) When donned, this garment polymorphs the user into an illithid, with the effects of a polymorph self spell. No command word is used. Items carried are absorbed within the illithid form, unusable. Immunities, psionics, and all other illithid characteristics are bestowed. Armor Class is likewise altered, but is modified by the user's true Dexterity, magical effects, and protective devices worn or carried (but excluding modifications from armor and shield).
The cloak's effects may be produced up to a maximum of three times per day. The Polymorph occurs immediately after the cloak is donned, without the sparkling lights usually accompanying a polymorph. After the first full turn of use, there is a 10% chance per turn (cumulative) of the wearer being mentally changed into an illithid as well. If this occurs, the user either attacks or flees. Only wish or death can then return the victim to normal form.
The cloak is easily damaged by any edged weapon, fire, and other hazards. If the wearer takes 20 or more points of damage from such attacks, consider the cloak destroyed. The cloak may be repaired magically (via limited wish or a similar enchantment) but not by normal means.
As a final note, other cloaks of polymorphing may be found. Each is designed to change the user into one specific creature. Each confers benefits and hazards in the manner given above - a full polymorph self (lacking only the spell's curative effects), with the given chance of permanent mental change as well.
Thanks @bengoshi That was an amazing and thoughtful post. You've been very welcoming to this former lurker turned chatter box and I thank you for that. Here is my gift to you, to aid in your efforts to chop through the many topics growing on these forums, and put out any fires as they spring up:
(from Dragon Magazine 40) Roll randomly for alignment. No Intelligence or Ego, and with an ordinary bonus, this is the best quality katana for a samurai. When the sword is drawn, it automatically casts a continual light and all normal fires within a 10-foot radius go out. Magical fires are treated as though a dispel magic spell were cast by a 12th-level wizard. When the sword is drawn, the user is immune to all forms of flame damage. In addition, the sword does double damage to all vegetation or plant creatures and allows the user to cut through thick brush and tall grass with great ease or chop down trees as if it were a lumber axe. However, the sword was created from a dragon. No one (including the carrier) within a 50-foot radius of the sword can do any damage to dragons, and the sword itself never does damage to dragons.
Also, to the rest of the forum I offer my sincere Merry Christmas wishes and a 5% discount coupon (some restrictions apply) for purchases from Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue (Purveyors of Faerun's Finest Merchandise!).
Welcome to Aurora's Emporium! You are about to embark on the finest shopping experience in all of Faerun. I am pleased to bring you the widest selection of impeccable merchandise available anywhere on the continent. No doubt you've already thumbed through the pages of this catalogue and admired my wide variety of goods and their lavish descriptions and illustrations. My small staff of scribes has spent countless hours preparing this tome for duplication. A second staff of apprentice mages spends its days magically copying and distributing these volumes to my catalogue outlets. I regret that my catalogues cannot leave the outlets, as public distribution has proven too expensive, but be assured that each outlet is furnished with enough copies so there is never a wait to browse.
Merry Christmas, thanks!
