A bunch of neat baldur.ini options in BG2EE 1.3 that I've noticed (carry overs from IWDEE)

24 INT means 100% chance to scribe any scroll, by anyone (a bard, a specialist mage, a wild mage, a general mage)

Hmmm, apparently tables in manuals are not 100% accurate =P
In game, INT 24 & 25 gives you 150% chance of scribing, so even with 15% penalty it's still well over 100% =]

@Shikao‌ and @elminster‌ (sorry for excessive tagging, I had to this because of your quote above)

Scroll scribing chances has nothing to do with this thread. Can we please stay on topic?

Ooh, I need to try this when I get home.

The max hp has very little impact in BG2 since you only roll HP once. Levels 1-10 with mage/thief and 1-9 with rest.

@Anduin‌ you still need to slide for 100% scroll scribing.

Yes @Pibaro‌ . But Scrolls come round again, plus potions can increase your chances greatly. However the chances of getting max hp cannot be adjusted or effected by spells or potions, plus on failure, you never get another chance. My wizards are squishy... They need that hp.

Not saying I have never touched the difficulty bar on finding a juicy scroll...

This. By default, to hit rolls should to be on and cosmetic attacks should be off.

There won't be any further updates to the game before the holidays; we won't have time to make changes and test them. But these things are on the radar for our next update, which (fingers crossed) won't take a full year to release. ;)

    @Dee‌
Does it mean there is chance for another patch will be released?
Beta testing period was shortened due to incoming Holidays then not all bugs&issues received patches to fix.
Will Developers keep supporting BG2EE ?
BTW, I would like thank you for your steadfast work to continuously improving bg games.

Anyone a master of the infinity engine can tell me what's missing to get the correct text to show up in BG2 for sneak attacks?

I think you'd have to update the class text as well.

My personal favorite is this one:

That is certainly a great feature, however I believe SCS players will particularly enjoy this one:

'Game Options', 'Suppress Extra Difficulty Damage', '0',

NOTE: I did not test it and I have absolutely no idea whether it works in BGII:EE. I've merely noticed it is there.
Do the difficulty options affect SCS? I know that Ascension has AI that scales with difficulty but the SCS readme doesn't mention doing the same.

Actually, SCS only takes Difficulty into account in the Underdark Beholder Hive, because the code is stolen form Ding0's Questpack.
But it's nice for Ascension, I was pretty bored of Yaga-Shura literally chunking my Mage PC with 1 hit.

Wow. Lots of interesting things here. Hopefully, I will get to do a playthrough with some of these options soon and they can roll through to the BGEE even sooner so it will be a continuous trip from beginning to end.

'Game Options', '3E Thief Sneak Attack', '0',

Sneak Attack. Like the others 0 means its not active, 1 means it is. Presumably they follow the IWDEE's progression, though no progression for the ability is listed in any of the class/kit descriptions in game. An in-game option would have been nicer, since you could more easily switch on the fly then, but its still a welcome addition. Default setting is 0.

Edit: Apparently the sneak attack tables aren't in the game yet. So this option won't work at the moment.

This got my hopes up so high and dashed them so expertly that I felt physical pain.

It does work, see my posts last page and the one four posts above yours.

Gah! Again, I fail to read a page and get schooled. One day I'll learn. That's pretty awesome. Although, the text string would probably bug me enough that I'll wait for you or somebody else to figure out how to fix it before I start my new BG2 run. I've got Dragon Age and Diablo 3 to tide me over until then.

cosmetic attacks should really be disabled by default imho

I couldn't disagree more. My character just standing there instead of probing at his opponent's defenses, parrying, etc., would annoy the hell out of me.

Where did you buy each of the games from? Apple has different requirements for where application data can be stored for applications from the App Store.

Just doing some beginner necromancy and summoning ( I summon @elminster but anyone who might have an answer is more than welcome) because I had a question related to baldur.ini
There is an option to enable druid spells up to level 7 to R/C
Another thing that was modified from BG2 to BG2EE was that bards and thieves can no longer equip personnal equipments such as Jan's armor or Valygar's stuff even with UAI, even though they coulf in vanilla. Is there any way to get this back by editing baldur.ini?
  • elminsterelminster Member, Developer Posts: 16,315
Not through the INI file. You can do that through near infinity.

What does disable Cosmetic attacks do exactly?

It makes it so that your characters will only do an attack motion when they are actually making an attack. Baldur's Gate uses cosmetic attacks which otherwise make characters look like they are doing multiple attacks per round even when they only have 1 attack per round (its more noticeable if you only have 1 APR).
