I would never make any of them have a kit.

    My list:

Garrick = Jester, he's so bad that at full tilt his songs cause riots
    Kivan = Archer, duh
Faldorn = Avenger, I figure this is pretty obvious, she's a militant force for nature

Everybody else is either ineligible for a kit due to multi-class, or doesn't really stand out as a kit perse.

Should be optional, as of that mod released at PocketPlanegroup.

Or maybe a customization option in the settings menu?

So I hunted around a bit and saw no mention of it, so I will just ask: Will the NPCs be kitted, or just the standard classes they are in the original? Or will there perhaps be an option?

One new NPC is a Blackguard, One a Wild Mage. Monk... isn't really a kit, so at least 2 will be.

I'm sure someone'll come up with a "fix" for it in no time flat. There already is for running BG with Tutu where you can select everyone's kit.

    @Aosaw has it.
  • DawgliciousDawglicious Member Posts: 224
Well that is unfortunate. I guess I will just make two custom NPCs so I can play around with kits a bit more. Thank you for the responses!

You can always use one of the mods that allow you to kit any npc in the game. One of the most well known is the level 1 NPC mod, that allows you to kit the NPCs and change their starting proficiences.

I use this one to make Xan a Kensai, like he's damn well supposed to be.

I'd like to be able to make Kivan an Archer.
  • mlnevesemlnevese Member, Moderator Posts: 10,214
I always play Kivan as an archer. :)

I am aware of all the mods that exist, I just didn't know if they would work with bgee or not, I assumed they wouldn't.

Tiax as a barbarian, Imoen as a Cleric of Talos, and Minsc as a mage. Fun times, <3 the level 1 npc mod.

@Dawglicious To many mods a new version of weidu will be enough. Reading the modding forums in the weeks after release will be a must to me.

Ok I'm not even sure if the devs can do this because of contractual agreements to not change original content BUT...

What do you guys think about giving certain NPC's kits for example the two that spring to mind are Kivan as an Archer and Minsc as a Berserker or Barbarian... Let me know what you think?
  • KortokKortok Member Posts: 165
    as a quick response:

    Kivan: archer
    Minsc: barbarian
    Coran: swashbuckler
    Ajantis: cavalier
    Montaron: assassin
  • CyricSpawnCyricSpawn Member Posts: 74
    Agreed with all but Conran...

His a multi so first off no kits for him but ignoring that he is a premiere bow man with his unnatural *** in bows and 20 Dex sure his womanising and roleplay character are definitely swashbuckler but wouldn't making that change upset many who use him as a sniper?

Do you think the Devs can or will make these changes?

    Sorry to repost :(

No worries, as I said I had to dig through 13 pages to go back to the last 60 response thread and I only knew it was there because I participated in it.

The main view seems to be its impossible due to contractual reasons which is a shame. As ill be playing on IPad I'm not sure I'll be able to mod... But Kivan as an archer we can but dream
  • AmardarialAmardarial Member Posts: 270
Kivan is 100% a Archer kit in all my modded games, no question asked.

The others are more hit and miss.

I always think Duel/Multi-Class should be able to have one kit easily chosen, in case of Duel allow for second class, as you can already start as one.
  • kamuizinkamuizin Member Posts: 3,704
Sure they should. The specific classes if the copyright assignment allow, i let for the devs. to decide.

This isn't an original content, is just an indepth analysis of a content, cos kits didn't existed when the first BG was launched.

The only thing I want to see is Xan as a fighter/mage. It's not even a kit! But man does it automatically turn him into one of the hardest of hardcore badasses.
  • CyricSpawnCyricSpawn Member Posts: 74
Xan would Rock as a kensai/Mage can't work for a hundred reasons but wouldn't it be cool...
  • DragonspearDragonspear Member Posts: 1,838
Xan as a fighter/mage would be such an improvement for him. I'm struggling through a game with him right now and I like his character but its sad watching him swing and miss all the time. Not like Coran and Kivan care much.

Best Longsword in the game and he can't swing it for toffee, I'd be depressed as well
