@Vasculio If they ask me to make some official portraits, I probably wouldn't say no...
I'm finally nearing the end of BG1 EE and will soon start my first playthrough of Siege of Dragonspear before starting BG2. But I also started thinking about which character to play next. I've never made it through the whole series with an evil character, and with Dorn, Baeloth and Hexxat now in the series, it seemed like a good time. The only question was which character to create... If you've seen a lot of my older portraits, you may recognize this face and can probably guess what the BG2 version will look like when I make it.
Since the base elements I used were of a high enough quality, I made this one even larger than usual, though that also means I'll inevitably go back to tweak small things at some point. No, his official name is not Bob. I just couldn't think of one for now!
EDIT: This is an updated version with a few tweaks to add more detail and blend in better with the default portraits.
@Aedan It may not be Bob, but at least it starts with the same letter... I decided to name him Bellum, the Latin word for war. It seemed pretty appropriate given his proclivity for violence. Here's his BG2 portrait. Some forumites here may recognize the expression, as I had made a battlerager using the same base photo a long time ago.
You found a perfect balance in terms of light and shadows - each portrait fits very well with the game style!
I know that you are very busy due to real life, but I was wondering - one day, would you consider the chance to draw a new portrait for Glint? What do you think about his default portrait? I like it, but I am sure you could do even better

I'm still wrapping up BG1, so I still haven't gotten a chance to even try Siege of Dragonspear. All of the new characters will probably be high on the list, though, as it always bothers me when they don't match the original style!
learn more ~ Orc head exercise by jianchao zou That's how an orc nose is done correctly. Very nice nose! Way too many artists give female (half-)orcs mundane human noses. That invokes so many noes in me...
I'm up to the final chapter of Siege of Dragonspear, which I enjoyed much more than I expected given the criticisms many have leveled against it. I'll probably write a quick review of it at some point in a separate thread, but as expected, the portraits bothered me a bit. M'Khiin and Schael actually look okay, excluding not fully matching the original portraits, and I haven't even tried taking Voghiln in my party yet. But Glint was a bit too different for my taste, so he was indeed the first one to get a makeover.
I stuck with the blue hair since that's referenced elsewhere, but changed other elements to better match a follower of Baravar and for my own personal taste. Sorry, but the long hair had to go!
Haven't you looked through the last two pages of the thread?
@Elrandir deserves the credit for getting me to finish a portrait I had put aside for years, and it just snowballed from there. It seems like quite a few others have been absent from the forums for a while as well!
@thespace I unfortunately use my Mac for work and my PC for gaming, so I've never tried using custom portraits on the former.
Hey there, I'm not sure if you remember me and I've changed my username since then anyways but you made me two portraits a few years ago for my NPCs, Gleya and Sirene. I still feel bad that the former's currently in hiatus as it feels a waste not to use the art you made, but I'm hoping to revive her eventually, while the portrait you made for Sirene was a huge motivator for me to get it finished. Glint is probably among the best of the work you've done in my opinion, his original has bugged me ever since the expansion was released. I just wanted to say thanks for the art you made for me in the past and drop an endorsement on your newest art in the process
Could someone link to a tutorial of how to replace a default NPC portrait with a custom one? I'd love to use @Isandir 's Glint next time I play SoD, but I have no idea how to do that.

EDIT: Does it maybe have to be done via Keeper?
As long as they're the same name as the in-game portraits, you just drop them in override. Isandir's naming of "GlintL" and "GlintM" looks right.

Alternatively, you can save it to My Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\portraits
That way, you don't have to replace the file when you start a fresh installation.

No. That way you won't override the portraits of NPCs - that way you can only choose a portrait for your created character.

I'm not 100% sure, I think you'd also need GlintS as well (the portait can be the same, it's the file name that is checked).

You actually WILL overrider NPC portraits that way, as long as you give the files the correct names! Also, you need to have both the L and M versions, otherwise, you'll only overwrite their portrait at some places.

@lefreut and @Thels Sorry. Have just checked in-game. Indeed, only GlintM and GlintL bmp portraits in the Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\portraits folder are enough for this! Thanks for the insight!

I had already spotted you with your new username when I started making my most recent portraits. I was relatively happy with how both Gleya and Sirene had turned out when I made them, as they both fit in so much better with the default BG2 portraits than some others. Of course, I some point I may end up tweaking them a bit as well!
May I use your Glint as avatar picture on this forum?
Feel free. I don't mind people using any of my portraits for personal use. It's only when someone would like to use them for a mod or alter them that I prefer to be asked first.
I've been dragging my feet in getting through BG2:EE, so I tackled a portrait I've been putting off for a long time: the BG2 version of Dorn. To keep it in line with the BG1 portrait I made, he's still bald, though I did make his features appear a bit more orcish. I may go back and tweak the other one to more closely match this, and maybe someday I'll make versions of both in which he still has hair!
If anyone prefers their orcs with the canon color (grey), simply isolate the face and drop the yellow saturation. That should do the trick.
After years of playing BG I got kind of bored by the standart portraits so I tried looking for a new ones. For most of NPCs it is not a problem, but I was not able to find one for Jaheira that fits my taste. The best fitting my feel for the character was this pic of Olivia Wilde, I was able to put some filters on it to make it look picture-like, however I was thinking if someone could try their hand at Baldurizing it even more, like adding some nature-like background etc.

Your Glint is SO COOL! Thank you for this gem!
