Knowing as little as we do, which new joinable NPC are you most eager to try?

I suspect it will be the goblin shaman chicka because.... hey, its a goblin shaman chicka, but I'm interested to see what people are excited for

So we got an archer, a drunk dwarven human (sorry) skald, a goblin shaman and a religious gnome thief that is not, in fact, Tiax. Don't know much about alignments as far as I can tell, but we'd assume the Archer is lawful good being that he works for the Flaming Fist (who are apparently not a punk rock band) and if I were to guess the gnome would be good since he worships a NG deity.

Brief Descriptions from www.siegeofdragsonspear.com
-Captain Schael Corwin: A deadshot archer who serves the Flaming Fist, Captain Corwin is ready to take the fight to the Shining Lady to protect the city she loves.
-Voghiln the Vast:A skald from the north who inspires his allies with epic tales--as long as the ale keeps flowing TOTALLY HUMAN
-M’Khiin Grubdoubler:A goblin on her own, determined not to return to her tribe. Her unusual shamanic magic may turn the tide of battle.
-Glint Gardnersonson:The blessings of Baravar Cloakshadow follow this irrepressible gnome, who uses his clerical abilities to support his more subtle talents.

So based on what little we know, what say you folk?

I know one thing... I'ma try dem all

I am interested in the goblin shaman.

If she is related to weenog in anyway and is romancable, I want my nostradamus badge.

A dwarven skald would also seem fun. I can see myself doing a dwarf run with him, Kagain, Yeslick and two PC dwarves of thief and dwarven defender.

    Earliest impressions:

Captain Schael Corwin: Yes. I'm excited at the possibility of doing an almost all-ranger team. Me, Minsc, Kivan and Corwin makes the team 4/6 Ranger!
Voghiln the Vast: No. His portrait doesn't fit into the BG style. The style absolutely needs to be uniform!
M’Khiin Grubdoubler: No. We're talking classic heroic fantasy, unlike drows or even vampires, goblins don't seem to fit into these kind of stories as heroes.
Glint Gardnersonson: Yes. I'm guessing it's an evil gnome?

Hard to pick, and everyone goes for the shaman, I'm sorry for the other characters

I know what you mean, but we only got to pick one. :)

I am also intrigued by our new dwarven friend. I wonder if he might have a romance...

I'm mixed about Glint. We already have a gnome Cleric/Thief in Tiax. I'd rather have Tiax buffed to be more appealing than have a clone of Tiax that is Good aligned instead.
  • billbiscobillbisco Member Posts: 361
You can have more than one, this is merely a sign to me of an abandoned Tiax which disappoints me because a. Tiax needs a buff and b. We still have no Fighter/Mage official NPC.
  • billbiscobillbisco Member Posts: 361
We already have a Cleric/Thief, Tiax. Fighter / Mage is an archetype we do not have. Why are we repeating archetypes we already have and ignoring ones we do not?

You should have added an "all of the above" option since it seems like there is no reason not to take all the new characters with you, particularly if you're starting a new character or if you are using a previous solo run character to check out SoD.

Well, the question isn't "which will you take with you?" but "which are you most excited about?"

Several people seem to have got the idea from somewhere that Voghiln is a Dwarf, but (in both BP2 and BG2ee) Voghiln is a Human. (And he's a big guy, hence "... the Vast", so if he were a Dwarf, then he'd be a Giant Dwarf, which seems rather oxymoronic.)

I voted No Preference, because on the one hand it'll be particularly interesting to try M'Khiin because she's a new class, but on the other hand she's probably the Evil offering and I don't often play Evil, so I'll probably try some of the others before I get around to M'Khiin. Which I get around to trying first will mainly depend upon what characters I've got waiting at the end of BG1ee by the time BG1:SoD is released.

So far, Schael. Also, since there's been a few posts referring to Schael as him- she's female! Her description even mentions protecting the city SHE loves!

Just seems to deviate most from NPC:s available so far; new class and new race.

Being that Tiaxs proficiences of staff*, THF* and sling* are already perfect I can't help but think that Glint can only go backwards with a terrible choice like Club.

The archer might be a really cool companion. Far enough through the trilogy that he doesn't trivialise content but not so far that he gets annoying (through micromanaging to overcome resistances and immunities).

Skald will be awesome, tee up those high APR parties! Hell, if max level is 12 a party sorcerer (Baeloth) can cast IH on a few party members for maximum carnage!

The goblin shaman of course creates the most curiosity. I'd hoped that Shaman would be similar to the Spirit Shaman in NWN2 with spontaneous Druid spells and some interesting abilities but it sounds like it might be different from what this thread suggests so I'm a bit worried.

Figured maybe later on it's revealed that he's got a "Miniature Giant Space Hamster" sort of situation going on. Voghiln the Vast Dwarf, indistinguishable from a normal sized human being.

Maybe he quaffed a bit too much Ent-draught.

    Dwarf Skald!

Combine with Charname Dwarf Defender and Yeslick (dwarf fighter/cleric)

    Yay for dwarfs!

    I dunno

We know nothing except race, class and name.
Right now, I can only say that I do not like Captain Schael Corwin portrait, while M’Khiin Grubdoubler and Glint Gardnersonson seem to have a good potential - I look forward to hear M’Khiin's voice.

Most likely I will vote later when/if Beamdog reveals more details about them :)

Tiny adorable goblin gal is my choice! Going to pick her up and hug/cuddle her until the end time (even if she turns out to be evil and doesn't like cuddles OH WELL).

Setting aside the innovative experience, M'Khiin will also be a useful indicator as to whether Beamdog has gotten better at story/character content. Their last attempt at a monster NPC went rather poorly; if M'Khiin is an improvement, so much the better.

Maybe the devs were just reading the "Complete Book of Dwarves" where the typical dwarf is "42 feet tall": http://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/41708/and-you-thought-dwarves-were-short-a-thread-about-funny-typos

Yeah, that's my bad - I got him mixed up with elminster's character, Daran Highhammer. Voghiln is definitely human.

Got to be the skald. Now to keep my fingers crossed for 1) not bravely running away 2) not being a serious womanizing creep 3) not trying to run of with my gf (I do like Harry though) 4) available early in the game and most important 5) decent stats. I so need this in a bard.

Yes I know I am way to modest...

Least interesting is the goblin. We have already had a tiefling a half orc and a vampire. I don't really need more strange minorities. But of course I will try them all and hopefully be pleasantly surprised that she blend in beautiful with the game (Minsc must have something funny to say about her). And also it will give some more possibilities for the evil runs.
