Anyone doing NaNoWriMo this year? I think I'm going to give it a shot. If you want to be my writing buddy you can find my profile here. http://nanowrimo.org/participants/medesha

I've never heard of this.
I should do a thing since I didn't do the thing for that one Dirzzt contest.

Give it a try! The great thing about NaNo is that you can't possibly fail. Seriously. Even if you don't make your 50k goal, so long as you've written something, you'll have all of NaNoWriMo at your back. Their weekly pep-talks are some of the most inspirational and supportive emails you'll ever read.
I've never actually finished NaNo and hit the word goal but I've always enjoyed myself. Maybe this'll be my year!
Well.
I'm going to spend the next week doing that. XD
BTW doing the math, 50,000 words = about 120 pages.
You need to write about 4 pages a day in November to hit the 50,000 mark.
If you're going to be taking 2 days off a week, you need to write 6 pages a day.
If you're only going to write 2 days a week (IE weekend) you're gonna have to cram out 15 pages a day.
I like page counting more than word counting because I can time it better. Usually takes me an hour to write a first draft page. If I don't procrastinate (HA!) while writing, I can probably get one page done in a half hour.
We're talking 1.15 spacing, eleven point font.
If we're going with a 12pt times new roman double-spaced
47, 400 = 188 pages. so 50, 000 = 200 pages.
XD
Haunt City
Everyone in the Family is special, but June is...more special. She's got powers no one can duplicate. Father says that means June's destined to do great things in the world. June's not so sure, but when the Family loses their commune and has to live on the streets of drab, dangerous Haunt City, June thinks maybe her powers will be enough to keep the Family together. She just has to find someone who needs what she can do.
In her efforts to find safety and security for the Family, though, June crosses a powerful underworld figure. Vendetta Vox is sleek and rich and ruthless and she wants June to murder someone with her powers. That's farther than June is willing to go, even for the Family. But now June knows too much and she has to untangle the mystery behind Vendetta's murderous orders if she's going to get out of this situation alive.
I like it, @Amber_Scott! Got that urban fantasy mafia thing going on. Are you writing with a YA audience in mind, or an adult audience?
Aaaaannnnndd, I'm in. May we all write amazing novels in twenty days.
Awesome to see so many people eager to participate!
It has been seventy years since the Gods of Light left the sky due to the corruption happening on the island. Without their guidance, the merchant ships were left stranded to fend for themselves against an unruly populace and now hostile creatures called The Fey.
Small communities isolated themselves from the rest of the island, living independently for decades, fearful of what may lie beyond their stone or wooden walls. It was in one such community that The Kid was born. On his birth, a single star named the Eye of Hope reappeared over the village.
Scholars, priests and rulers debated over the meaning of the star's appearance and how it maybe connected to the rumour of the birth of a child. Is it the first sign of Gods returning, and allowing them to leave the island once more?
Twenty years after The Kid's birth, the Eye of Hope still shines, but no other stars have returned. If The Kid is to bring hope to the island, it needs to happen soon, the days are growing shorter, and the sun seems to be fading from the sky.
