This game is fairly deep and complex. If you explain things simply, you run the risk of not doing that complexity justice. Yes it's difficult for beginners, but how else are they gonna stop being beginners if not by delving deeper into the more complicated issues?
I get your point, though. Often a discussion between experienced players has a lot of unspoken assumptions that may not be immediately evident. A fair objection.
Celestial Fury is a strong weapon, but I don't like its name "Celestial Fury" is not a name for a Katana. It should have an oriental name, like Masamune, Kusanagi, Muramasa.
That is the point. I agree whith you that the level of discussion can not be kept artificially low and that the beginners can only benefit from something that refuses utter semplifications or will never grow as players. Just sometime is better to speak about that unspoken assumptions and be clear about the premises we use.

It's been translated for you. I think it's very appropriate, it's quite a common occurance, one word in a different language that everybody who speaks that language understands needs two or more English words to translate accurately.

Would you be happier if it was called Tengeki? ¬_¬
I think giving swords names is cool, but giving them Japanese names is perhaps a bit too much exotism. I'm fine with the translation, though I suppose it doesn't always fit too well. "Kusanagi" has a much more exciting ring to it than "Grass-mower".

Then it probably ought to be Kaminoikari, which I think means roughly the same ... BUT I agree with @Lord_Tansheron, that's just spurious exoticism. After all, everyone in the game is actually meant to be speaking Common, not English (or whichever language we each play in), so everything in the game is already "translated" for our benefit anyway.
That's more "Wrath of the Gods" than "Celestial Fury". Also sounds a bit weird due to the diphthong. If anything, it would be Kami-no-Ikari, following the usual naming conventions of swords with possessive particles (like the Ame-no-Murakumo sword).
And to think they said I would never use my degree for anything!
Celestial Fury is a god tier weapon in SoA. It falls off a bit in ToB because it's only a +3 weapon. It will get the job done with most enemies in ToB, but there are quite a few enemies that require +5 or better to hit. Carsomyr +6 is undeniably the strongest weapon in the game in the hands of a Paladin or dual classed fighter/thief. The thing I actually like about Carsomyr is it isn't actually overpowered. Aside from the vs evil bonuses and dispel on hit it is just a raw damage weapon.
Everyone loves CF. It was my favorite weapon for a long time. But when you take into account weapons like Carsomyr/Purifier, Axe of the Unyielding, Flail of Ages, Ravager, Foebane, Angurvadal, and even Crom Faeyr you'd rather have the raw damage, buffs, and more useful effects from those weapons with your melee.
You can still use the weapon for most of ToB, but you'll likely replace it with one of the weapons above.
I haven't really got anybody yet who can hit anything hard, (sometimes it seems to just hit anything) including Charname. But CF stuns enough to give us a chance. Golems are the worst when you haven't got a good tank for RP reasons. Just did the Planer Sphere, 6 bloody Golems attacking virtually at the same time.
Ran around stunning them in turn while the party vaguely waved weapons at them and slowly managed to do enough damage.

I normally have a real thief, Jan or some multi, and I make good use of him, and I am quite stingy whith espendable items, so usually I end the game whith a lot of potions, enchanted arrows and scrolls (I never use the erase memorize strategy to level up, maybe I can recruit a mage only to let him memorize scrolls at the benefit of party's xp, and then drop him, and I have very rarely done it, but I really feel erase/memorize too cheap).
Every run I remind myself "this time use your potions" but after every "the end" charname starts some business in magic expendable items......
Sanchuudoku is awfully strong. I don't mind using it myself, since the fight with Kuroisan is so absurdly difficult. You have to fight very hard to get that thing, much as you have to do to get the Staff of the Magi, Carsomyr, or Celestial Fury. It seems fitting for a highly challenging encounter to yield a very big reward.
@abazigal5: Kuroisan the Acid Kensai is a Kensai(13)->Mage with massive buffs (including a Potion of Magic Shielding effect with +20 to all his saves), end-game equipment like the Robe of Vecna and Ring of Gaxx (which he won't drop), and the +4 katana Sanchuudoku (which he will drop), notorious for its Acidic Backlash ability that hits enemy attackers, whether they're using a melee or missile weapon or even a hostile spell, with a Melf's Acid Arrow effect that bypasses magic resistance and makes spellcasting nearly impossible. Sanchuudoku also lowers acid resistance on hit, meaning that even immunity to acid won't stop the Acidic Backlash from hurting you.
Kuroison, or Cookies, as I like to call him, regularly deals 40 damage per hit and casts Protection from Magical Weapons via uninterruptible scrolls, making it extremely difficult to harm him (and every hit you make on him will trigger that Acidic Backlash). He ambushes you in Athkatla if you (1) have the Tactics mod or the right component of Sword Coast Stratagems installed, and (2) are carrying either Celestial Fury or Malakar in your inventory. If you run away or don't kill him fast enough (within 60 rounds), he will disappear and come back later, with his potions and scrolls and spells replenished.

That's the scariest single creature I've ever heard of...
He's scary only until you figure out what he does, then he's easily dispatched by several strategies. Sadly enemies of that power level are prone to such approaches, you don't fight through their mechanics as much as you try to circumvent and/or ignore them.
