Why would it be in the artwork if it weren't in the game?
Personally, I am likewise rather creeped-out by it, but it's the good sort of ickiness and I'd like to actually see it and do something with it.
I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going.
I think that the only place that octupus-fiend is going is back to the Abyss. KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!!! RAAAAGHH!!!! FOWARD!!!!! ATTAAAAAACK!!!!! T'was a horrible creature. BUT NOW, IT IS DEAD! Now we anburn it and make a party. Until his mother comes. Or we can slay his mother too. Like Beowulf.
@Shandyr what about its grandpa? ITS GRANDFATHER IS BURNING NOW, SLEEP IN PEACE CHILDREN OF FAERUN!!!! LONG LIVE THE KING!!!! LONG LIVE THE PALADINS OF THE ORDER!!!!!

@Shandyr Wow, looks like our Chaotic Commands (after multiple Lower Resistances) worked! @CrevDaak is now a force for Lawful Good!
That... or maybe the creature is so CHAOTIC that it has become Lawful!!??
@Shandyr@Heindrich1988 they payed fine for bein' a paladin, and girls followed me like arrows. That's why. And because I like trains, oh yes I do like trains.
Hnng. That stat sheet. Those clearly stated core stat bonuses. Those simply marked equipment effects. So much good stuff that I wish was in any of the Infinity Engine games.
I'm a bit late to the party on this one. How much do we know about the stats, classes, and mechanics? Any insightful articles or information links?
You know, at first, I thought Project Eternity/Pillars of Eternity was going to be bad, but after seeing the screenshot of the Character Sheet. I've definitely started to think differently.
Perhaps its the IWD like font that brings back memories.
So, Obsidian, when Pillars of Eternity comes out...TAKE MY MONEY!
Regardless of how this game turns out, the art assets and graphics are pretty amazing. Almost exactly like I've imagined a bg3's potential graphics would look like.
"Romances between you and fellow adventurers seem to be a de facto feature of role-playing games today. But Obsidian isn't doing them in Pillars of Eternity.
'We're not doing romances,' said Sawyer, 'but [the other characters] do have pretty detailed stories, they do have their own personal motivations and goals that sometimes align with yours and sometimes they don't. They interject into your conversations, they argue with you, they argue with each other.'"
So, we'll have to wait, what, two weeks for the romance mods to hit. Followed by the sexy MarySue NPC's that romance the main character (and have plots full of tropes)...
I see this as a good thing. Not that I mind if there is a romance, but it's more a side thing than a selling point for me. It avoids a lot of churn about:
>'Why won't this one romance me, instead?' >'Where are the gay relationships?' (which also could lead to the similarly fun 'Why are there gay relationships?') >' Romance is bugged!' (actually, it's usually operator error by the CHARNAME, which, to me, is a sign of game mirroring reality) >'How do I romance both and ?'
Oh, the fun of those discussions! Anyway, I'm feeling super snarky, probably because of how early it is. The truth is, I'm actually looking forward to this game. I didn't support it (or Tides of Num) because I do not buy anything pre-release ever ever everagain (thank you, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter suckage, followed by Master of Orion 3 [oh, the horror!]), but that doesn't mean I can't support it after it's popular. Call me the anti-Hipster!
Not having a romance in an RPG really does not change my opinion on buying it or not. I like romances as I like all NPC interaction. As long as the interactions are well written and the story seems like something I will like, I'll play it.
I've never been one for in-game romances, beyond the extra character depth they provide - as long as there's plenty of development outside of that, this is actually a plus for me.
Druid spirit form cat? That's definitely something I'll be playing. Choosing a class/build for that first run through is going to be tough! I have a feeling I'll play the first act of the game about a dozen times with different classes and builds before I settle on something to finish it with.
That artwork sure does look like Baldur's Gate. I'm starting to get excited about trying this.
Now if only "Winter 2014" meant "sometime by the end of March" instead of "Christmas 2014" like I suspect it does. At least it'll be an exciting Christmas break this year.

I think those are reputations the party has with different organisations/groups. Like in New Vegas.
i feel stupid now

So I'm perfectly fine with this.
