    Excellent @Shandyr! We should test MP some time now that it is working.

    Glad to hear you got it working, although I'm baffled as to why it wasn't running natively.

    MP should work fine in a VM. Not sure what VM you are using, but you may need to use "Bridged" networking (which puts the VM on the local network) instead of "Shared" (which puts the VM behind a firewall on the PC).

    @Shandyr,

    I was actually going to suggest installing VirtualBox and trying with that, but that's not a solution for anyone else having a similar issue in the future. It would be great if we could get to the bottom of this. :-)

    @Shandyr, (reposting in case you didn't see the edit)

    I'm on Linux at the moment so I can't check the installation of the online installer, but I don't suppose you can tell what architecture the VC++Redistributables were? You may need to get the 32-bit/x86 versions even though you're running 64-bit.

    This is really strange. I still think it may be caused by 3rd party software.

    @Shandyr,

    My resolution is 1920x1080. The native one is described as 1280 x 768.
    However in 2014 I played on 1920x1080.

    Two things re-reading over this:
    • Can you try changing the resolution to the native resolution?
    • Can you try windowed mode? SetPrivateProfileString('Window','Full Screen','0')
