Romance is just a way of npc interraction. But I would like to have other options than just romance aswell. For instance, in Planescape: Torment you could join Dak'kon in unlocking the Circles of Zerthimon (if you were wise enough). Just as rewarding as a romance, maybe slightly more interesting.
Even being butt raped by Dorn's sword outside a burning orphanage and screaming in agony while clutching onto the very last moments of my soon to be ended life would seem to be vastly preferable to romancing Anomen.
As my final drops of blood spurt out of my mouth, and I lose my final grip on my remaining sentience, my entire adventure experience flashes before my eyes. I see Anomen, and think ... Well yea, it definitely could have been 10000x worse ... *dead*.
There needs to be more non-elf romance and more gay romance. As it looks to me, Neera is going to be the bisexual of the three. How surprising.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that they introduce a bi romance. But why isn't Dorn bisexual? Rasaad? Why heed the stereotypes so slavishly?
Edit: Including romances, but only within the frames of the "gamer's wet dream" is actually a lot like saying "we want straight male players who have the spoonfed view of the perfect woman. The rest of you can play the game too, but there's no place for your idea of a romance."
Ah, yes I think there is. Can't remember what it is though. Thank you for enlightening me
My apologies to the team working on Baldur's Gate for making assumptions about you. Was uncalled for cynicism on my part I guess. And a thank you for making a bold move.
Yep, for the moment Dorn is it. Rasaad and Neera are straight.
I hear vague rumours there's going to be an f/f romance option in some future DLC - I guess that means that they either plan to update Neera or they're adding another new female character who likes the ladies?
I wish they would have another male romance for good male PC. If I want a gay romance, I have to be evil. If there are at least 1 romance for each alignment then I would be one happy camper.
You don't have to be evil to romance Dorn, but it doesn't really make a lot of sense for a good aligned character to have him in the party. I agree that more same-sex romance options would be a welcome addition.
Typically the Black Isle/Bioware/Obsidian/Overhaul (ugh, they should just put it all under the company "Good RPGs") games have had a decent amount and quality of "romances" and I think the writers/developers should make as few or many as they have to this date. I don't think they should be restricted by what the community wants.
Personally I don't care if they're not in, but will play them if they are and are to my tastes. Picked the hilarious option because none of the other really fit my opinion ^^ Though I guess it sorta ties in with my "lets not restrict the writers" thing, huh.
I personally love the Baldur's Gate has romance in it. Even though I'm in a long-term, healthy, RL relationship, I'd still like to get out and date a whiny cleric once in a while!

Rant over. :P
Nope, wrong. Male character is bi, we dunno which.
Edit: Isn't there a saying in English about assuming?
