The book allows you to summon a group of allies in early BG1. There must be something to tone that huge bonus in power, thus you are not getting XP for those killed by that group.
As for armour: he may use only light armors. Ankheg plate isn't exactly light.
Thanks, but I would never use the book while I can use a wand that does the same without draining my experience. It's already slim in bg1.
By the way, are you supposed to reach a certain point in romance to make it continue in SoD? I've had one last banter where right after the gorion's letter reveal where I had to sleep to get it, then nothing else (I forgot the content of the banter).
Now I found Ver in elfson tavern, but it doesn't seem like we are in a "romance" judging from the dialogues.
The book is not "draining" your XP and it's a game in which you rest outside, get attacked by sirine and get 2000 XP for her, so... Besides, with mods like SotSC you get so much XP that it's rather easy to hit the XP limit. Plus, the book allows you to summon them once per day and the charge is recharged, not like with the wand.
As for the romance: I do not remember. Check the variable - Global("L#1VerrRomanceActive","GLOBAL",2) would mean your romance is in an advanced state.
The letter talk is a scenery talk, not a timered talk, and IIRC it's not exclusive to the romance path.
As I said, I will need the value of the "L#1VerrRomanceActive" variable. That is the best way to make sure what's the current state of the romance.
EDIT:
oh, and I think you'd notice if the two of you romanced, consider the two of you would most likely sleep together, considering he's not really "let's wait with that" type of guy
He's part of his main plot, iirc, and I think there is a talk regarding
Verr's brother, a kid and stuff -- I think there is a talk or two after that, too.
however, I am at work and I don't have the access to my pc to make sure.
Then in SoD
when you are approached by someone in front of the tavernz saying Verr is looking for you, admit the two were together, as that sets variable for those that would like to play SoD only game and try out the romance.

: Is there a command I could use to force sod romance to start?
Sorry, but I don't understand what the problem is. Have you reached Elfsong in SoD? Are they not inside the tavern? Is the character outside, telling you someone is looking for you missing? I really need to know what you did and what point you reached and what you think is wrong. Because it should work pretty normally, my friend finished such run recently. To get what you may be experiencing I need more details.
Also, as I said, you can start romance from AFAIR. You just need to tell the character outside that the two of you were together before.
Okay, I think it all came from a misunderstanding.
- BG:EE: it doesn't seem like I've finished the romance, given that the last banter I was able to get was the one where I fought the mage and no more. I was wondering if you had suggestions on how to see the last three.
- In SoD, I told the kid we were with each other, but I thought that when you said "admit the two were together" you were referring to the kid - so that you could tell Ver that the kid was with Ver (that's why I was asking if there was a third option); instead, with your last post, I realized that with the statement "the two" you were referring about charname.
Also another thing that made me be doubtful is that the romance seems to be inactive by the variable, at least in Sod (see here: https://imgur.com/a/WlByYNv)

If you had all "scenery talks" and did most of the quests up until the final fight with the mage, then there is just one talk, I think -- triggered during your last run after Sarevok, on your way to the Temple of Bhaal. So I think you've seen most of the stuff that's there.

Ok, a little summary:
No matter if you completed BG1 portion of the romance OR started a new SoD game, outside the Elfsong in SoD there will be some kid or someone telling you Verr is looking for you. If you tell him that the two of you - you PC and Verr - were together, that will trigger the romance path for SoD. If you take that path, the variable is set Global("L#1DVerrSiegeSettings","GLOBAL",1). From now on, the romance will become a continuation of your BG1 romance and it won't be just Verr in the Elfsong tavern, but also Phalh, a kid mentioned by Akeriash, Verr's brother kid. He will become an important character in SoD AND BG2EE romance (if you choose to continue SoD romance in BG2EE).
I played and finished Bg1 SoD and I had 0 romance interactions. There is no reference to Phalh when I tell him I'm the companion.
Just to be perfectly sure things are going as intended, I registered a video here that shows how my encounter goes with him: https://streamable.com/vw5ver
Note that I checked the savegame, and the variable you talk about is set to 2.
It's because you are telling the messenger outside you were only companions, and not in a romantic relationship.
You should have said that the two of you were an item (which means you were in a romantic relationship - it's an idiom). So with this response you changed the course of the whole SoD relationship. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/pl/dictionary/english/be-an-item
Oh, I think I see a typo. I may fix that at some point, but for now you can just ignore it. Pretend like he's playing or training somewhere else, away from all those people
Nope, he won't appear on that map, I'm afraid, but it's ok, all the talks with Phalh are somewhat an introduction to BG2 and they are optional, but knowing him, who he is, what he's like is enough to get the BG2 plot
I prepared something for those who believed there are too little evil fighters for BGEE and SoD (well, it was mostly about SoD). So here is Verr'Sza, the evil rakshasa ranger (it has his own kit, as most hunter kits won't work for someone like him).
The mod introduces a new companion for BG1 - Verr'Sza, an evil rakshasa hunter. He may join your group in early BG1EE and stay with the group until the very end of Siege of Dragonspear expansion. He may be recruited in one of the rooms within the Friendly Arm Inn, but you must free him from a certain state first. He starts at 3rd level, so if you prefer having team members on more or less similar levels, it may be a good idea not to recruit him right after leaving Candlekeep.
The mod includes some go-and-kill quests, as well as a romance for both male and female characters (the only condition is not being of Lawful Good alignment). Although it's technically a romance, Verr'Sza isn't a very romantic character. It's more a matter of making him respect you and not trying to bind him in any way. He shouldn't be compared to Dorn, though. He may be protective in his twisted and blunt way.
Note that the mod may include language considered blunt or inappropriate for kids.
Mod was designed to work on EE. Never tried it on Tutu or BGT.
Consider this an open beta. There may still be some bugs.
* additional romantic content available through a 3rd character (available in Bhaalspawn's camps; ~5 talks)
* Thrix the Profane reaction
* few "head string" talks with other NPCs
The mod includes crossmod talks with Sirene, Aura, Drake and White.
NOTE ON THE ROMANCE: If you want to romance Verr'Sza, you must suggest closure on your own. You may do it during one of the friend talks or in a "drunk talk". To trigger a drunk talk, make sure Verr'Sza is really drunk. He will start a talk then in which you may "dare" him.

Right now I had a banter that ended with him

Edit: would it be possible to add in sod a third dialogue response, so one can start the romance from there?

Btw, remember to read through Phalh's dialogue too, then.
BUT
I can't find Phalh in chapter 10- I'm in the coalition camp (https://www.gamebanshee.com/baldursgate/walkthrough/sod-coalitioncamp.php)
Intended?
Should I check
You're welcome and enjoy the rest of the game!
