I wish there was a way you could roll the stats first, and then depending on what you rolled, chose the charname class.

It would be fun IMO, to look at a set of stats and then be able to think "ooh, that looks good for a fighter/mage/thief ect".

That would leave Paladibs and Dual classing mostly unused, if rolling 3d6 and keeping abilities.
I wasn't suggesting it would be used all the time, just a feature that could be used when not really finding the inspiration for charname.

Along the lines of Gorion not really knowing which child he picked up, just needed to make do with what he got.
As you can play an evil character, seems like Gorion wasn't too picky either.

I use Excel for that. Then, once I've got my stats, pick a race/class, apply the racial modifier and make the character in BG. I do a best of 10 rolls, so it's easy enough to reroll in the game until I have a high enough total, then move the points around to match my pre-rolled stats.

Yes, paladins are quite rare even though I use the 4d6-drop-lowest method.

I do find that it's much easier to get high rolls on classes like Paladins, Bards and Druids due to their high minimums but at the same time I find it's harder to get "good" rolls where you can get all of the stats you need because of the minimum scores padding the bottom line. A 92 would be fantastic on a fighter or a thief for example, but on a Bard it's not.

If I'm playing a class with high minimums I generally aim for 95+ and on almost everything else I'm happy with 88+.

The main exception is Shadowdancer if you plan on dualling him to mage because you need the normal stats PLUS 17 int and 15 cha. Takes forever to get a good roll.

You just need to put portraits of the proper name and size into the override folder. So if you get a set of alternate pictures of Imoen, make sure they're named IMOENL.bmp, IMOENM.bmp and IMOENS.bmp. You should be able to find all the names with a Google search, or use Near Infinity.

You can also use this link to format any picture to the right filetype and dimensions:

I've been searching the internet for a cool dwarf sorcerer/pyromancer avatar now for two weeks, to no avail. I have this charname made up in my head that i just HAVE TO PLAY, but I need to find the right pic first. This is driving me nuts.

    Yeah, what he said.

The locations of folders in BGEE can differ a lot from the original, so if you have some trouble finding the override folder, well...
