As we know, modding scene is still alive. Modders created many places. Some may know my Deep Gardens or Silent Swamps ruled by The White Queen. I always tried to tell you - Baldur's Gate - fans some new stories, let you help people, see brand new places, fight new enemies.
What would be the next story I may once tell? The story of an isle and a village once seperated from Athkatla, but as the City of Coin, it almost "devoured" the village and its story. Yet it still stands. Its heart - the old Tangled Oak - is still alive, still embracing the land with powerful roots. Will the place remain? According to some legends, yes, as the Oak won't leave its place and it shall protect it, even it the time of great threat.
So, here I prestent you my entry: The Isle of the Tangled Oak - an area I made and I may once turn into a real, playable mod. Well, if I find enought time and energy. I did my best to make this area blend in well with other BG2 areas. For now consider it but a piece of art, created for those who still play the game, enjoy mods and keep visiting the Sword Coast and all nearby lands
(note: I had to scale the picture, as it's huge, the original one is bigger and can be easily used as a working in-game area)
Well I don't know if I'll get the time to create anything "new" for the contest. But the old fanart on the topic has been removed Have fun and best of luck to everybody!
Don't the rules explicitely state that the submissions must be previously unpublished? Cause I already recognise quite a few pieces from tumblr, dA and the forums themself around here.
To enter, all you have to do is draw, sculpt, model, compose, bake, or otherwise create something related to these games and post a picture/photo of it in this thread. From your favorite characters to landscapes, if it appears in an Enhanced Edition, it’s fair game for the contest.
It must be original work (as in, YOU created it, not someone else) and previously never published anywhere. Enter as many times as you’d like, but you’ll only be able to win a single prize. Other community members will vote for your works by giving reactions to your posts.
I kindly ask you to edit your first comments in this contest accordingly, not to confuse forum users and the Beamdog team (as obviously, not everyone knows which of your works exactly have been published before, and which have not been published anywhere.
Your art works are wonderful, and I'll be glad to see your new creations for this contest (if you decide to do so).
hello there, here is my painting. As it's about the Enhanced Edition, I decided to enhance the the picture you have when you visit for the first time the Watcher's Keep area. I'm thinking about turning that autumn mood to a winter day... Maybe in 3 - 4 days hope u like it
It is almost perfect but it lack one thing - when you open this notebook voice of Piotr Fronczewski should read
"Przed wyruszeniem w drogę należy zebrać drużynę."
("You must gather the party before venturing forth." in Polish language).
Sir, how can you know, it does not? Um, wait- I just noticed, it is trying to take off from the shelf and eat my Icewind Dale video game. Jealous monster :<
@seldar That is going to be a very informative piece for me whenever I next visit Watcher's Keep. At this scale, I can imagine the dungeon containing all that it does even better than how it is detailed in the game. The holy symbol of Helm and particularly the autumnal framework of the area is magnificent. That shall have to be my headcanon for Watcher's Keep now.
Do you have other artworks online? Either here on the forum or elsewhere? You have wonderful talent!
and as I said here is the same painting, but in Winter (I notice now we don't have snow area in BG2 right ? ). Well I think snow falls on that tower sometimes.
Not even sure if this will qualify as an entry, but here you go. A re-visitation of the Planescape: Torment soundtrack's main theme. Obviously made with deep, deep inspiration from the original, but arranging, composing and final product is by me.
Made with all love and respect for Mark Morgans stellar work on the OST. That man is a legend.
Comments
this is my entry... I'm absolutely not an artist, then I made it using my favorite 3D game engine, Unity.
Here is a screenshot:
Followed by a movie of it:

Cheers to everyone,
