"It is more of a job to interpret the interpretations than to interpret the things, and there are more books about books than about any other subject: we do nothing but write glosses about each other." - Michel de Montaigne
As someone whose day job is in Academia, and in the Humanities in particular, I found that quote by Montaigne to be, not only true, but also especially painful. I have been trained to comment other people's writings, I don't have any training or ability to talk about concrete things. We have the sciences for that. Those of us in the Humanities are doomed to talk about interpretations, not things. And let me assure you that, after a certain number of years, it gets very, very tiresome.
Marilyn Monroe quotes, I looked but didn’t find any here.
"I am good, but not an angel. I do sin, but I am not the devil. I am just a small girl in a big world trying to find someone to love."
“Be real, be yourself, be unique, be true, be honest, be humble, be happy…”
“I don’t forgive people because I’m weak, I forgive them because I am strong enough to know people make mistakes.”
“It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.”
Probably just me but I think that what she had to say was underrated. The last is my favorite and how I live my life, and have before I ever found that quote.
I would rather the whole world knew the real me and hate me than one person to believe a lie and love me.

1) The good path seems more interesting than the evil one... I will try again when I finish the EA with my evil drow follower of the Spider Queen.
2) Why is everyone throwing acid or fire on me? I certainly didn't expect to be hit by acid thrown by a skeleton...
3) The bugs are not that bad considering it's EA... I particularly like the Journal notifications that do not say what is being updated. Well just an excuse for me to check the journal anyway.
Still have fun although I have to dance through fire and acid.

@mlnevese , I think the transmission from Mars got deviated to the wrong thread.

I don't fear death so much as I fear its prologues: loneliness, decrepitude, pain, debilitation, depression, senility. After a few years of those, I imagine death presents like a holiday at the beach.
Whatever games are played with us, we must play no games with ourselves, but deal in our privacy with the last honesty and truth.

Wow, did you actually post a real quote?
"It is by doubting that we come to investigate, and by investigating that we recognize the truth."

"The knowledge of anything, since all things have causes, is not acquired or complete unless it is known by its causes."

"Instead of laughing or smiling at questions like 'Where do we come from?', 'Why do we exist?', we should ponder instead the remarkable fact that the replies 'From nothing. For nothing' really are answers, thereby realizing that these really were questions - and excellent ones at that. There is no longer a mystery, not because there is no longer a problem, but because there is no longer a reason.” -Quentin Meillassoux

I've been suppressing the urge to say that for hours.

I don't get it. Big question mark over my head.
Close! You just got it switched. He wants to be perceived for who he really is, and not the way that he is perceived now.
@Arvia The wordplay works a lot better in song form, rather than straight text.
Took me a while to get the double meaning in written text...
I knew this was gonna trip people up, but its a wordplay I'm very fond of. It's a lot easier to parse in context with the rest of the song.

Maybe so, but when you don't attribute the quote to someone, it comes across as a personal musing which is not a quote.
