The left hear them laughing at him.
The right hear the applause after.

    Both are terrifying.

The grasping at straws is hilarious.

"Look at this calendar, I was never there!"

"I was a virgin well into adulthood!"

    W.T.F.

Honestly, these arguments should disqualify him from any job in the field of law.

The problem now is, even if you DON'T believe either of the charges against him, it is beyond clear that he is going out of his way to lie about being some kind of angelic choir boy in high school which we know from all available evidence and from everyone who has spoken about being around at the time just simply isn't true.

I have been catching up on listening to MSNBC. Also, Minority Report with Sam Seder

Brett Kavanaugh's College Roommate backs up Deborah Ramirez, saying Kavanaugh would come back to their room drunk and combative

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNbgR_bF03A

Rachel Maddow show repeats the line about someone saying, "Hey, Brett Kavanaugh just stuck his d**k in Debbie's face!"

Sam Seder is the best liberal commentator out there, has been for years. He is able instantly break down flaws in arguments on the other side.

We have never worried about before. Yes, it is a good thing that we are worried about it now but it is disingenuous for anyone to claim to have the moral high ground here. If we kicked out every politician who has a history of reprehensible and/or criminal behavior we probably wouldn't have many of them left in office--I could live with that.

As far as my disagreement over the size or scope of potential protests if something like Rosenstein being fired occurs...well, we will never know until something like that actually happens. Given that none of those circumstances seem likely to happen at this time it all winds up being conjecture.

I'm feeling annoyed with the Republicans who seem determined to Ram Kavanaugh's nomination through when he's lied under oath, not just now, but also during his first appointment to the Federal Bench. And why aren't they letting the FBI investigate? You'd think they would want this to be investigated by a neutral third party. Which makes you wonder why they don't want anyone looking into it. And also why so many keep saying that their minds are already made up- before even hearing the evidence.

    That just... makes me sick.

@jjstraka34 And the link I posted was to David Pakman, not Sam Seder. Apologies!

People can dismiss it because of Michael Avenatti or not, but his client just released a sworn affadavit saying Kavanaugh and Judge spiked alcohol to set girls up for gang rapes.

But Kavanaugh's calendar doesn't show that at all on Tuesday July 2nd 1984! /s

    And

She couldn't remember all the details (drugged?) and she "admitted to being drunk" so whatever <- said the Republican pundits, politicians, and President.

Who still has 30 year old calendars laying around anyway? Maybe we'll see him in an episode of Hoarders.

I feel Kavanaugh is lying like a rug, hoping the Republicans can ram him through before his lies come out to sink him.

Hoarding is maybe all well and good but perhaps not a desirable quality for a Supreme Court justice lol.

The calendar looks legitimate enough but is a pointless distraction for all the reasons I mentioned previously.

And if this IS a set-up or smear job, this info would indicate it would have had to have been in the works for YEARS:

    https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/detailed-letters-friends-recall-years-old-conversations-with-blasey-ford-about-alleged-attack

Beyond that, Avenatti may be a media whore, but let's not pretend his claims about Trump and Stormy Daniels weren't proved to be nearly entirely accurate. Michael Cohen and Trump lost that battle, not Avenatti.

People are going to dismiss aspects of this because of Avenatti, even some liberals don't want him involved. I disagree. In Godfather parlance, he is what is known as a "wartime consigliere".

In yet another boneheaded unforced error, the Trump/Kavanaugh camp released the calendar too early. His "Beach Week" now appears to line up with the new accusers accusations.

I would love to be a criminal in Kavanaugh's court:

"As you see, my client's calendar is empty on the day of the murder. Hence, he could not have done it."

"Good enough for me. Next case!"

Some researchers have proven some stuff that we'd probably consider to be common sense: people with more extreme political views are more likely to show bias when reading news articles. Specifically, the researchers had people rate their own political views and ask where they got most of their information, then showed them news articles, but prevented some participants from knowing where the articles came from. Folks who rated themselves as more conservative or more liberals were more likely to base their opinion of an article on the source instead of the article's content.

They broke it down by self-reported political views and each participant's primary source of news information (I'm surprised to see that NYTimes readers show more bias than CNN viewers). Note that "large bias" in this study means "their trust rating of an article diverged from the blind-review group by 1.5 percentage points or more on the 1-to-5-point scale."

The original study can be found in PDF form here.

There is a difference between an elected politican, who is to serve the public on behest of their wishes and a person who is elected for life to a position of power.

If those that elect the person feel that their past misgivings would not interfere with his/her ability to represent them, then they can be elected freely and nobody can do anything about it. It was the will of the people. The people are also allowed to change their mind in 4 years time.

This appointment, for life, not chosen by the people but a person that over half did not choose in the first place, who maybe being placed not to best represent the public’s needs but the needs of one man, should be scrutinized heavily, and everyone should take notice.

I still have all my old Tolkien and Michael Whelan calendars. And like Kavanaugh, I didn't record any of my criminal activities on them.
Hell, I probably had the most boring life in the world. None of my calendars are written on... anywhere. I have some old Hildebrandt Calendars and a very old cat calendar. That's really all I saved. But I don't write on Calendars... what am I doing wrong with my life? ;)

Also, another thing was that Kavanaugh was $60K-to $200K in debt over baseball tickets before he was going to be offered the spot. Just before he had to submit his tax records, those debts were paid off. Kavanaugh's explanation was that he ran up these debts on his credit card buying tickets for others, and that he was eventually paid back.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/07/new-strike-against-kavanaugh-season-tickets/565022/

All this came out before the whole sexual assault thing came up. I'm surprised no one remembers it now.

And Michael Avenatti's client (or one of them) has come forward now, via Avenatti himself.

I really really really want those calendars to be playboy or something, just for the irony.

I'll believe that Kavanaugh was part of a secret roving gang rape squad in DC that was openly abusing and drugging women without anyone ever bringing charges/going to authorities and college age women were hanging out with high school boys there allowing this to happen when there is evidence to support the claim and not a moment before. That is all.

well that is impossible to support isn't it. How can something be both secret and open at the same time?

And once again, this was over 30 years ago. Back when police gave the advice of "don't dress like that if you don't want to be raped," and "if you were intoxicated, how do you know it happened exactly like that?" to anyone who did come forward.

First and second year college students who spend their weekends in their hometown with high school acquaintances isn't even remotely uncommon.

Trump just proved why he never has press conferences, which is because he sounds like a batshit lunatic. He again brought up his own accusers. I will remind everyone again that he stated in no uncertain terms during the campaign that he would sue them. He never did. Because he knows he would be deposed and be caught lying.

Beyond that, just listening to him talk is disturbing. This guy has no tether to reality. He's nuts. I've never seen someone who lives so completely within their own head.

Ha, I just read that Trump is 'leaving the possibility open' of withdrawing Kavanaugh's nomination. This is exactly why I didn't want Trump to pick an 'establishment' type. Draining the swamp should have meant not picking a swamp member to occupy the Supreme Court.
