I don't disagree, but a Kavanaugh impeachment hearing will (with almost 90% certainty) cost them the house in 2022. He is already a martyr on that side of the aisle. I am not holding out alot of hope they will even expand the court at this point. Dianne Feinstein's performance at the Barrett hearings (treating it like a normal situation) made me want to gouge my eyes out. One of the most "Democrat" things that could happen would be adding 2 seats onto the court and suffering all the political consequences (of which there will be many)... to not have a majority.
The GOP wont come to the table over this, so I think the only reasonable approach is to either add 4 seats or 2 seats and remove Kavanaugh.
If there was good faith for protecting institutional norms, you could imagine a scenario where the GOP agrees to let the Democrats add 2 seat, and add term limits so that they can keep a majority. That wont happen, because it is anathema to the GOP to protect institutional norms these days.
I agree that no legislation will protect the court. The opportunity for good faith negotiations has been shattered. The GOP would repeal any legislation as soon as they deem it advantageous to do so. Among other things, that's why the Democrats also need to aggressively look to add P.R and D.C as states. Those ~3 senate seats will help balance the GOP's advantage (not washing it away, just keeping the senate more in play).
I want term limits. I want 11 justices without Kavanaugh. I want legislation that A - prevents any justice from being nominated or receiving a hearing within 12 months of a presidential election (or during the lame duck period). If a SCOTUS seat opens up in that window, the president can nominate an acting justice to the court for the period in order to keep the number odd. This same legislation should require any appointed justice to recuse themselves if the election is brought before the court.

The GOP wont come to the table over this, so I think the only reasonable approach is to either add 4 seats or 2 seats and remove Kavanaugh.
If there was good faith for protecting institutional norms, you could imagine a scenario where the GOP agrees to let the Democrats add 2 seat, and add term limits so that they can keep a majority. That wont happen, because it is anathema to the GOP to protect institutional norms these days.
I agree that no legislation will protect the court. The opportunity for good faith negotiations has been shattered. The GOP would repeal any legislation as soon as they deem it advantageous to do so. Among other things, that's why the Democrats also need to aggressively look to add P.R and D.C as states. Those ~3 senate seats will help balance the GOP's advantage (not washing it away, just keeping the senate more in play).
I want term limits. I want 11 justices without Kavanaugh. I want legislation that A - prevents any justice from being nominated or receiving a hearing within 12 months of a presidential election (or during the lame duck period). If a SCOTUS seat opens up in that window, the president can nominate an acting justice to the court for the period in order to keep the number odd. This same legislation should require any appointed justice to recuse themselves if the election is brought before the court.

The beginning of the video is an unidentified man making vague claims about a conspiracy to commit attacks of an unspecified nature. There is a sign that says "The National Press Club," but the National Press Club did not host any such event. If you look at the National Press Club's social media profile and website, this event is not mentioned anywhere. The most recent thing on their Facebook page is... a post from three days ago about a pumpkin carving contest.
So, right from the beginning, the video starts off with an unsourced, unidentified man speaking in front of a fake sign. Already, we know for a fact that whoever put together this video is lying about this being some sort of press release instead of random nobodies pretending to hold a real event.
Then, at the end of the video, after the sex tape, there is unsourced text saying that the Chinese Communist Party controls Biden. Most damning of all, it says that this dynamic is responsible for the territorial conflicts in the South China Sea.
As someone who has studied the territorial conflicts in the South China Sea for several years, this is not only false. This is gibberish. The notion doesn't even make sense.
Worst of all, neither the intro speech by the nameless guy in front of a fake sign, nor the unsourced text at the end of the video, even explain how they are related to the sex tape in between.
